depends on the voltage and amps that the battery can supply

Thank you! ♥️ that is correct! A lot of people won't know this.

I did the exact same thing car started, but now the battery won’t take a charge for my Dewalt battery

Used a rigid battery last night.

Don't do this with modern cars max the car is supposed to receive is about 14 volts but i don't think the voltage regulator is supposed to go that high. My point is you may try some modules or the computer costing you thousands.

There is a 12v slot on the drill battery

This isn’t anything new I’ve been jump starting quads, trucks, SxSs, and cars for ever with these types of batteries

And if ya drill battery's are dead flat be very careful and reverse the wire so negative from the car battery goes to the plus sign on your drill and the plus sign from the car battery goes to the negative side on the drill battery do it very quickly job done:-)be safe:-))

It might put enough juice into the car battery to start it. If your car battery is dead flat though? not a chance.
To start a car you need easily 10x the amount of current a powertool uses.

That depends on way too many factors, but in most cases it should start (unless battery is dead as you said). Modern 5S2P powertool battery can supply more that 70A. It's not enough to start engine, but it's more than enough to help.

Have seen an electrician start his diesel van like this, he did the battery bit, i turned the key. You get a couple of seconds on the crank and then the battery is toast. But it definitely works

Try it before you comment. My 18v makita battery turned over my gmc truck just like that. The first one i tried only had 1 of 5 lights lit and it turnrd my truck over a couple times so i grabbed a charged battery and it fired right up with #12 romex. I had to flatten the wire so it could fit through the plastic on the battery. Tied the hot into my stereo distribition block and clamped the other wire to my alterator bracket with vice grips. When igot home i listened to the stereo long enough to kill the battery. Grabbed a lipo battery pack from fpv quadcopter it also started my truck instantly. Yes if the battery has shorted cells you probably cant start it but neither will jumper cables.
