I have a question, do you exprienced the virtual keyboard issue? Even if the setting for show virtual keyboad is on, it does not appear at all?? They cannot type on the matepad without the physical keyboard. 🤔

Would actually love to see tablets support tri/quad window multi tasking in landscape. So much screen but limited functionality. The new Kirin processors are more than capable of running more than 2 apps simultaneously. :’) imagine watching a webcast lecture, referencing lecture slides, and making your own notes all at once on a single screen.

My personal experience:
I truly loved the matepad pro when I bought it, coz it has amazing hardware, but I got frustrated initially as there were no Google services bcoz I use adobe reader, gmail n google drive a lot. And I was looking for youtube videos on how to install Google services on huawei devices most of which didn't really work out. AND I didn't want to root the device . However ultimately it turns out I can still manage with my routine work without real google apps.
How did I do that?
1.I installed Adobe reader via an apk (shared via shareit from my mobile phone) and I logged in adobe using my facebook account n it automatically detected my google account n Now I can use Adobe with my google account as I used to do with access to all my previous documents.
2.I logged with my gmail account to the provided email app in matepad and it works perfectly fine.
3.I can use web version of Google drive too.
4.You can google at the same time use you tube on browser.
5.Still I couldn't find any good way to replace google maps though.
So yeah I'm a Happy user of Huawei Matepad Pro 😍

Just download petals search, then you can get most the apps you need
No. Petal Search is horrendous and it backfires most of the time, downloading XAPK files that doesn't work with the system's app installer system.
Well but I got almost all the all I need and the work perfectly fine. It is just Gmail and Google core apps that doesn't work.

It can be wireless charged on those huawei/iphone compatible wireless charging phones which is a good feature as hotspot the whole day your huawei phone might running out of juice. This function helps a lot in charging your phone especially when u forgot to bring powerbank at outside and continue to provide Internet to your Matepad Pro.
Yea, that's a lifesaver when we done have a power bank within reach.
I found one keyborad shortcut written on the plastic in the keyboard's box. ‘+1 conpensates for the lack of an escape key. On Android this basically means that when you press those keys yoy go back, but on youtube or netflix it is very natural to press "escape" when you are watching something in fullscreen.
Perfect review 👌. Love it when you went details on keyboard for day to day job. Nearly perfect substitute instead of a heavy brick laptop. The downs for me are lack of shortcut key for spreadsheet and docs.. I'm gonna wait until huawei makes it perfect or some other companies doing it perfectly.

The keyboard shortcuts are dependent on the app itself - so it truly depends if your docs and spreadsheet app support keyboard shortcuts on its own.

This is the first review that is objective, not still comparing with the iPad Pro that costs the double. I am an engineering student too and I am considering to buy it.

@@NasiLemakTech Exactly! I share your thoughts. Having something to write on and bring everyday with you is always a good idea. Of course with some limitations at the moment. Android tablet are still behind iOS and i can say also respect to MS store in terms of note application. Although I still believe in their diffusion so that developers can start compiling their app also for this platform.
I share the same consensus too when it comes to Android tablets. They're not as good as iOS in terms of app support but still - better than Microsoft and the best in terms of price.
And TBH, I tried using an iPad during my engineering student days - didn't like it, went back to pen and paper instead.

Hi. I am a teacher, and with the online teaching that we are doing now, i am getting a tablet with a stylus and keyboard/keypad. Planning it as a replacement for my notebook, mainly using the microsoft office documents (writing/editing) in word, excel as well as powerpoint. i was looking at Samsung S6 / S6 lite. Then i saw your video. Do you think for my application/use, the MatePad Pro is a good choice compared to Samsung S6/S6 Lite? Thanks in advance. Btw, good review.

if you can the tab s6 (not the lite version) is great, the chip is very powerful, the screen is SuperAmoled and the free stylus is amazing, i'm using one and anything i can think of (photo edit, video edit, note taking, media, drawing...) the Tab S6 can all do very very well !!! the Lite screen is not in the same league as the S6, and that's what you look at all the time, the chip is another reason, invest in the S6 and you will not regret !
Why not go for a surface go?better operating system for productivity.

I got my Matepad Pro and I love it! I have one question though. Does it need a screen protector? If yes, is there one you would recommend?
For that, it depends on your personal preference. I'd say a screen protector really accentuates the punch-hole selfie camera.
Either way, just don't buy cheap China screen protectors. I got one and... it's not flat.
Did you suffer from no google services? Do you recommend it for a student?
@@shahdm.7359 For google services, it's not really an issue. I can access all of them through the browser, and I added my gmail account to the email app. I would recommend it for a student, as it can handle all basic functions but then the keyboard is essential.

Keyboard has been great for me though. No disconnection issue.
1. Is it possible to connect to an external monitor, and using bt mouse and external bigger bt keyboard? 2. How about the processing speed? I m using Surface with M3 processor but getting slow in Windows. 3. Could I download Google suite to use use gmail apps, google map and TH-cam? 4. I like a bunch of questions. I hope I answered them properly.
1. Yes you can, just get a dongle and it'll work.
2. Not really a fair comparison since they're both using different OS and have totally different capabilities.
3. Unfortunately, no. Not officially, at least. We tried adding them ourselves - but it's wonky and started having error messages after some time. So, it's unreliable.
4. Have to explore your options. The built-in email app supports multiple emails but your satisfaction may vary.
5. We have the WiFi version, so the slot only takes in another NM card. Presumably, the 5G version takes in a nano SIM card + NM card.
6. Yes it does!

Great review. I am just browsing for a tablet replacement for mine. I had my huawei t10 for a few years now and I need a new one. Huawei media pad pro is over the top for me though, I don't really need a too high tech a tab for my zoom meetings/worship. Good that I found that out. Thanks!

Keep in mind that without Google Mobile Services now, many apps don't work. Like Google Classroom and TH-cam.

Hi! , Can you play video in high quality on netflix or amazon prime? Becuase I cant and on the app settings of netflix says the high resolution is SD, I can see the diference between mi celphone and this tablet. For example play video in Full HD and when is possible in HDR, but in this tablet no. Excellent video.
Hey there! From what I can find out now, the MatePad Pro supports only Widevine L3 DRM, which means SD resolution. However, I downloaded the video to watch on the tablet - and it appears to be in higher resolution.

Yes, both 5G and WiFi model will perform the same. As for using office apps, your mileage may vary depending on what app you want to use since this tablet does not have Google Mobile Services.
When editing word files? Can i use all the short-cut like Control+C=copy?

Yes, definitely! Ultimately, it boils down to what sort of apps you're using the most. Not having Google services is a dealbreaker for some.

As for Netflix... I'm not sure what happened but the latest update doesn't show the Widevine DRM anymore. But my Netflix still works... 🤔
Either way, it's quite risky, honestly. I can't guarantee Netflix will work all the time as Huawei doesn't officially state that they're supporting Netflix.

I never tried TH-cam Vanced. That app is considered piracy in my books, so I end up only using the browser to watch TH-cam.

For the SIM Card slot version, you'll need to get the 5G variant.
As for mobile phone... I've never tested it out. In theory, you can since there is a "call" in the tablet.

Nope - the desktop view is just... resizing the app into a full-screen app and have them opened in windows like a PC/Mac. Those Adobe apps are very watered down compared to the laptop versions.

Surprisingly, the palm rejection is good - given that the pen isn't lifted far off the screen.

I'd say it's still unfair to compare iPads and Android tablets - especially with Huawei's lack of Google support. The software makes the biggest difference.

Not sure about the UK. All the information that we have is based in Malaysia.
However, do take note that without Google Mobile Services, many apps are essentially crippled.

Definitely not. Many applications still run better and more powerful on a laptop.

Do you use the note taking feature and if yess what apps do you use? I desperately searching for good note taking apps but the ones I would love to use are just for ios and google android and are not available in the HUWAIE App Gallery
There are several note-taking apps - ranging from drawing only to text only. for me, Huawei does have the built-in ones which are decent enough - but generally I stick to Google Keep and that's it.

Can you review the Nebo apps on the MatePad Pro please.
Sure, I can give you a short review of the app here.
That app works okay. It converts writings into texts quite accurately - if I write properly (I have bad handwriting). Not sure if you like writing on glass, because hitting the stylus on the glass creates a rather loud tap.
The Nebo app is also suitable if you want to draw diagrams or equations. Undoing accidental strokes is difficult since the M-Pencil does not have any buttons.

@@huzaifaabdulrab4458 MatePad Pro has palm rejection for pretty much most (if not all) of the handwriting apps I've tried.
For me, the cons about using Nebo is that I keep "writing" above my words (pop-up for word conversion preview), and when I write on the pop-up above my handwritten words, the words will not register, and you have to write again, below the pop-up. Another thing is that you cannot insert a PDF file into Nebo.
But I have to say, Nebo is a very good note-taking app, but I think it will be better if they allow us to turn off the word conversion preview pop-up.

I love Huawei, but the issues with the matepad pro for me were the size of the screen is only 10.8, the keyboard is also small, latency with the pen, having to install GMS ,also replacement parts for Huawei devices are had to find especially anywhere in north America,

Unfortunately, the multi-screen functionality is only for Huawei or HONOR devices for now. So now, iPhones can't use it.

why u are not trying to install gms on your matepad pro? and then sharing the experience with us.
Because there are a few reasons.
1. I don't condone piracy.
2. I review the devices as is and I don't want customers to think it's feasible to buy the MatePad Pro and install GMS later on.
3. Continuing from #2, GMS installations change between versions of firmware. And sometimes, it just stops working outright.
4. If GMS is important to you, then the MatePad Pro isn't for you.

Have you aligned the keyboard's groove with the tablet? It could be a faulty keyboard too, btw.

I have not tried the Surface Go before so I can't say anything for sure. Personally, using Windows as a tablet is kinda bad.
This Huawei MatePad Pro can't use Google Chrome since it will flicker quite badly.

They both come separately. As far as we know, only the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite comes with the pen.

Hi just wanted to know, do u think it's a nice replacement for a laptop? i mean im an incoming college student and im planning to get this, thinking this could be a nice since it's like a tablet and laptop in one. would u suggest students to get this instead of any other laptops for studying?
As a complimentary device yes, as a full-fledged laptop replacement for universities - I'd say no.
I should've made it clearer too. For me is because I have a super powerful desktop (which is behind me in the video) and I just need a simple device on the go to take notes and read some stuff. Instead of getting a laptop, the MatePad Pro is perfect for my use case. If you don't have a laptop or a desktop, then getting only the Huawei MatePad Pro for study and whatnot might be an issue.
I'm a university student and I just want to let you know that a tablet can never replace a laptop (maybe in the future). Normally the apps in a tablet are the "lighter" version with fewer features, like Microsoft Office and Photoshop. However, for note-taking and studying (and of course watching videos), a tablet is a fantastic device, just not for doing assignments.

That's a good question. It truly depends on what your use case is.
For reading PDFs and notes - yes it is great.
If you want to take notes and start drawing on it, then it'll be a completely different experience. Some may prefer pen and paper instead.
Which do you prefer? Ipad pro or huawei matepad?
If you're comparing these two, I'll go for the iPad. Better software support overall.

So I'm planning to buy a tablet for university, still going to enter university tho. Anyways so I'm really hesitant, all I wanted was a multi-tasking tablet with Microsoft, Google drive, fast efficient and a pen to take notes, I was gonna buy the s6 or wait for the 2020 Samsung new tablet release but then saw this n thought it was nice too, plus if I pre-order it I get to have the keyboard and pen with it for free while the s6 doesn't have that kind of offer, the point is that if there are any other options to keep in mind, and would it be much of a struggle to download things as apk?, (love the details u mentioned in ur vid I wouldn't even know about the keyword shortcuts without u mentioning it)

I'd say if you're unfamiliar with 3rd party app stores, stay away from this tablet. There are reliability issues and getting updates for the apps you use is an issue too.
Also, the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite does have a promotion - but not for the Tab S6 though.
But if you don't have a laptop, I highly suggest you to get a laptop instead of a tablet. You'll need a laptop to do assignments, word documents, etc.
@@NasiLemakTech I do have a laptop and I just discovered that it's a touchscreen laptop too but the problem is that its screen not detachable nor bendable plus it's inconvenient to write notes on because I have to rotate the screen and write on it while holding the keyboard case which is pretty heavy, in addition to that I cannot find any information about my laptop nor if it has a stylus or anything like that since it stopped being produced..
To be honest I still don't know whether I'll need sth to take notes on or it'll be all assignments which needs Microsofts only..
I understand your predicament here. I'd say enter university and try using only your laptop first. If everything works fine, then forgo the idea of getting a tablet.
I used to be an engineering student but I still prefer using pen and paper alongside my laptop rather than getting a tablet.

But from what you were saying, am I right to say that each time there is a new version, the apk app won't renew by itself, and we probably have to download and run the apk app again? Also, if I am not wrong also, MatePad runs WPS Office. Would this be perfectly compatible with Microsoft environment if we send files from MatePad to other devices with MS office environment? I'd say depends on your needs. Samsung does have Google, which makes it easier to use. The MatePad Pro is a bit more... advanced.

It's decent enough, but you're locked with all the Huawei apps only. If the apps don't suit you, then there's nothing that can be done.

No TH-cam, Play Store, or any apps by Google. You can use the web version of those apps through the browser instead. Facebook app is available for download via the Huawei App Gallery.
Downloading games and whatnot is a bit of a touchy subject since you'll have to visit 3rd party app stores to download them. It might be filled with malware, though.

That's a good question - and the short answer is no.
I can download Google Chrome, but it will flicker non-stop.
I really want to get this tablet, it's perfect but can you get it in 4g, can you get netflix without emui 10.1 and does it have google services
This laptop is only available in 5G or WiFi variant.
Netflix only works after updated to EMUI 10.1

Don't. It's always best to still have a laptop. This tablet is not a direct laptop replacement but a good complementary device.

Not that I know of. I used to use Estrong but that app developer had been blacklisted. So I use CX File Manager now. It works but not exactly the best.

APK Pure. As the time I was filming this review, only certain versions of Netflix app worked. Not sure if the situation has changed now or not though.

APK Mirror most of the time. However, TH-cam app doesn't work - so we use the browser to watch TH-cam instead - like on a laptop/desktop.

Typing Chinese... Not familiar with that. I think you need to add languages to the keyboard.
As for the 2 screen view, you'll need either Huawei or HONOR laptop to use the Huawei Share feature.

From when I tested the MatePad Pro, it can't. Not sure if it's possible now.

Not for this variant. There's another version with SIM card called the MatePad Pro 5G.

It depends on which version you're getting. The one we have here is the WiFi version only. It's available in another version with SIM card support

As your auxiliary device yes. I still recommend getting a laptop/desktop as your main device.
