    Rust treated & sealed properly 👍 Love the HR (classic 😊 ) Ive watched all the American Car build shows on Foxtel for many years & love the Resto work they do ! BUT to see an Australian Fella showing his work shop & all the processes of restorations / paint is fantastic hey 👍 You have a very professional team there brother ! Great quality of panel work & love seeing how its all done ! Brilliant viewing 😜 Cheers from bundy Qld 🍺🕺

      @@stevewilson8752 thank you very much mate. I totally agree that’s it’s about time we see more Aussie’s giving it a crack and showing what we can do with our classic history. I’ll keep doing this for this reason so than you for the support.

    I am impressed by the panel gaps you have achieved given these cars came from the factory with far from perfect panel alignments. If only I kept the HR that I owned many years ago, it is so hard to find a shell worthy of investing this much money on these days.

    Fantastic work. A credit to all your team. They only thing that disappoint s me is seeing the engine bay in gloss and by memory the firewall in colour as when I used to paint them when smashed we could get a perfect factory match engine bay by using black dulon tint and mixing acrylic primer to the black tint . The result being a slightly semi gloss the boot areas were also the same. Anyway thats just me as I like the factory look. I am a retired painter it was called coach painting when I did my apprenticeship at a large inner Sydney Holden dealer smash repair shop. I retired almost 6 years ago after almost 50 years painting.

    I love old Holden's I've owned at least 1 of every model except FJ or FX, and VF i think its great guys bringing them back to life and its important for our motoring history and Australia's home made from the engine to the body and we did it better than any other country for 70 years
    you've done a killa job except the firewall should be Black as it was from new

      @@stevewilson8752 hay mate,
      All
      The body restoration work that was done at Reid’s came in at $60,000. With approximately 500 hours of Labour put in.
      $120 P/H with restoration work is the average in the industry. This was a big resto though so not all take this long .
      Thanks you for the support.

    The workmanship is fantastic but sadly people have no idea the time and work that goes into a project like this and the cost at the end. I had my fathers HR Special that I wanted restored and was advised that the starting price was $35,000 so guess by the time it was finished this could have ended up in $70,000 price range these days. In the 80's I had a HR Ute resprayed twice at a cost of $5,000 a time, how times have changed.

    • @reidcustomgarage
      @reidcustomgarage  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ashleyflint3501 your absolutely right. This one finished at a humble $60k for the body work only . Although it sounds overzealous I can honestly say it just covered costs with very little profit. I do these restos for the love of it I suppose.

      @@reidcustomgarage Thank you for your reply. As a young lad i hung around the local crash repairers shop, to me it was an art seeing the owner bring cars back to life or even giving them a change of life. He once painted a S series valiant Burgandy , which was originally White, man that car looked fantastic with all the lines of the body work. It was great watching that HR come back to life. As we both know , Money is not everything in life, just ask a truck driver !

    Doesn’t the deoxidine affect the epoxy? Or did you strip it off after?

    • @reidcustomgarage
      @reidcustomgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No , in my experience, as long as you do it properly sand the epoxy surface’s , clean the deoxidin residue off and blow dry, then re coat primer immediately you should not have a problem.

      I used to also spray the deoxidiser with a bottle and scotch brite then wash off with water and a spray bottle. Then blow dry. Any trace of deoxidiser residue the primer wont adhere to.
