TRUCK DRIVER HITS TREE? Or TREE FALLS ON TRUCK?
มุมมอง 1764 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
At first I thought bad driver collected a tree branch. But looking at how the top of the door has buckled down and taken out the side mirror . I’d say a tree fell on it . Storm? Tree Lopper ? Who cares , we get it patched up.

Like ya work👍 Would luv to see the finished hr holden you did in silver mink.
I’ve had word from the owner the car is complete . But he had a problem with the motor . So once it’s fixed he’s bringing it back in to show me. I’ll post a video walk around. Not sure when this will be . Thanks mate .
😄👍🕺🍹
Awesome work that VN now looks mint👌
@@michaelsimovic7400 thank you for the comment and watching mate
Beautiful. What brand 2K paint do you use?
or was it acrylic?
Back in the early 70's went around aussie in a HD panel van - same colour grey. She was 149 manual & we got around 28 mpg in that old girl. Paid $350 for it, was a bit ruff body wise but mechanically very sound. That old girl never missed a beat the whole trip & we went over some pretty shit roads. Thems were the days. Great job ps I'd put the chrome strip back on the roof line where the white meets the grey just to finish it off. From memory they all had that chrome strip even it the car was a single colour.
I’d love to restore the HD panel van some day. Hope there’s still a few left out there . Yes the owner has the chrome strip but we left it off at his request as he was unsure . Thanks for sharing and supporting mate.
Great job Glenn. How long do you wait after painting the body before painting the roof when doing 2 tone colours?
I believe it was 3 days after Main body colour that I masked off to do the roof. I dont bake my paint so With standard hardener I recon this should be minimum cure time . Slow hardener possibly 5 days . I also had it out in the sun cooking the day after it went down . Thank for sharing and commenting mate .
Looks a million bucks. Well done! Is that clear over base or is it not needed with solid color? Cheers.
I did this one in a solid direct gloss mate. My colour system only gave me the direct gloss option . I’m sure other systems would have the COB option but I like the way Protect direct gloss lays down and the customer was happy to use it. Thanks for your question.
@@reidcustomgarageThanks!
good episode mate, im enjoying your resto videos. what high build product do you guys use? im at the high build stage of my WB resto also. there's so many products on the market now. you got my sub 👍
Thank very much mate . I use Carmaster High build primer . It’s a PPG mid range primer . And my paint system for base coat and direct gloss is Protec Paraglaze. Another mid range PPG product. Thank you for supporting me mate .
@@reidcustomgarage thanks for the details mate, appreciate it
So i did i just watch them sand down the body and put new bog over old bog . Jeeeeezzzzz
Yes mate , not a bare metal job as I said in the beginning of the video. Just a straighten up , some rust sections repaired and a paint job. Not everyone wants to spend the big bucks mate . Thanks for watching .
Great job, owner should be stoked
Cheers mate, he is very happy with it!
What a job! Looks brilliant - well done!
Thank you so much 😀
My holden hr 66 prem doesn't need resto its fantastic as it is. the hd shown is my equal favourite holden this one is going to turn heads once on public roads and for everyone's viewing cheers
Thanks for that mate. Yeh it sure will. Thanks for watching.
Absolutely smick they were a great old bus. I owned a red and white one many years ago. You do great work.
Appreciate the feedback mate.
I'm 65 and I've seen and painted and customized more old holdens than most I've never seen a HD that didn't have major rust its the worse holden for rust, HR's don't rust to death its a HD thing is why you don't see many around anymore which is a shame as I love the HD rear with a HR front on them, I'm a hardcore EH lover, think I would of put a little something in the paint to give a bit of ummff, you've done a beautiful job on him man 👍its interesting to watch other painters they way they paint your not wrong about the Iwata, myself I like something a bit faster my main go to is a DV1 but I've got over 30 guns of every make can't believe you only have 1 and yep if I had a $ every time I've forgot to clean out a gun I'd be rich got a giggle over that I'm currently doing a S2 VE HDT and yep I got a run on the number plate recess I bloody did it twice lol
Haha thanks for that mate. I also have used and carry just about every gun worth having . I go through stages of having a favourite. Thanks for your insight and support
Nice sculpture work 🤮 look at that job on the rear window sill well done 🤢 🤮 why remove the lead? Just for the fun of it ? Hope the customer didn't pay anymore than 5k for that job
Haha thanks mate. 5k was around the cost of the materials . Thanks for watching
Lead was the 60s till the early 70s, (actually from the start of the motor industry )after that bog and putty thick as
A bodyworks in hobart in the late 80s put the bog on thicker than that , west end it was called, it was their tow truck though , it would crack constantly
Yeh for sure . If I’m not payed to do a bare metal job I don’t offer warranty as I cant know how think the bog might be In Some areas or what’s underneath. When I do bare metal restos I make sure any bog work of where required is just a light skim . Thanks for watching mate .
All the little dents reminds me of my mums car
nice job glen , i'd be stoked to be picking that up after all the work you and the team done
Appreciate the feedback mate.
it is a really nice fresh cream colour white on the roof
yep as soon as you pulled the mixing stick out of the grey i went yep thats it !
Great to see another HD getting some love good work m8
Appreciate the support mate.
From memory the HD and HR were Lismore grey and the EJ and EH were Koala grey, slighly lighter shade. Also is lead wiping a lost art these days or just plain illegal to apply now? I knew a couple of old guys back in the 80s that were masters with lead
Check me if I’m wrong , but I think due to it’s toxicity the industry legally can’t sell it any more . Same as leaded petrol im guessing. Thanks for watching and sharing.
Just to help us understand the work involved what would the cost of a job like that be. I understand it can very a lot from car to car but a round about figure and even the hours involved in a job like that. Great outcome and now a very neat old holden. Thanks for the Video
@@PaulWalsh-e2m hay mate , happy to answer this. There was 170 labour hours and plus materials and outsourced work the entire job came to $25k This was not a full nut and bolt resto but a partial one . Had it of been a start from sand blast rotisserie job it would have likely been 2-3 times more . Thank you for watching and sharing .
Excellent work but I did see a dent next to the driver’s door lock
@@RyanGuy-y1w I think I know what you’re talking about. Thanks for watching .
Great work 👏 👍 👌
Cheers mate, thanks for watching!
HD hastily designed. Worst Holden ever except for the Camira lol. Great work guys well done. My dad bought one brand new. Traded mums EH and his FC ute. He kept telling me for 40 years that it was his worst mistake.
I guess a lot of the next gen would not have know this like myself. I look at these old cars and feel only happy . But owning one back when they came out I guess was different. Thanks for sharing and commenting mate .
Yes, they also had rust issues under warranty!
saw a loaf of bread as body filler a hk monaro back pillar back in the day.
@@gazza116 that’s a crack up .😂
Eh doors filled with loaves to bog up against.
all it needs now is a x2 engine.
i think fowlers ivory came out in 1964.from my memory of my 1966 trade
@@gazza116 and a great memory you have mate. Cheers to you 🍻
hi gazza , did holden use Ermin white on the roofs before fowlers ivory ?
@@BCBtrucks64 not sure.
Awesome work reidy
Thanks Mate, I appreciate your support!
I My self want to knew more about the new car painting process and is to learn how to paint
@@PaulHaymanHayman noted Paul. I’m currently filming a HX Body Restoration that I will pay more attention to the painting process. Thanks for the feedback .
So this is 2k single stage?
@@stevo184 yes 2k direct gloss.
@reidcustomgarage 👍.. Thanks, does it hold up ok with UV light?
Great job guys , car looks amazing
@@peterhoulis1184 thank you for watching mate.
Very nice, I would have been interested to see the repair process on the C pillar though 😊
I appreciate the feed back. I’ll try to get some of that in the next video . Thanks for watching.
You just don't know what you are buying when purchasing a classic car... I take a magnet with me when looking at cars for mates along with other tools of course, the look of horror on people faces when I pull the magnet out... As soon as I see their face drop I know...
Yep, it's amazing what you can find under the surface of a classic.
Two tone looks great the car is the same age as me. Did a fantastic job. I did spray painting and panelbeating at Sydney technical college we worked on cars like this. Had to spray a bonnet in 3 different paint air dry enamel baked on,and acrylic. 3 section was taped off. I remember we had a tub to put the spray gun and bottle. To clean the gun the things that you had to do as a apprentice.
It sounds like you had some great training back in the day and great memories to look back on! Thanks for sharing.
Did you pull and repair the pillar or welding patch panel. All looked smooth and true with final paint- just curious
@@BillVanKesteren my panel beater pulled the meat of it out and got it to a point where only a skim of bog was needed. He did weld in a small section where you can see the rust hole in the video. Sorry I didn’t get much footage of the C Pillar actually being repaired . Learning with every video. Thanks for watching mate.
So how was the C pillar repaired. Looks nice the car.
@@howardwilliams7399 my panel beater pulled the meat of the dent out . Welded in a small section where you may have seen the rust hole. It did require a skim of body filler over the top. The bog that came out as you could see was an inch and a half thick in the middle . Apparently 2 cans of bog was used in that C pillar and quarter panel . We took most of it out .
Absolute magic mate lovely work 👍👌
@@doctormengele961 thank you very much mate .
Looks great. Really enjoying the videos!
Cheers for the support mate.
That off white almost looks like the grey green colour some epoxys are when it gets sprayed out but looks a decent amount of white in the sun good job all round that roof turett is bog city haha 🤣🤣 seen plenty like that if not worse in my 30 years of life haha especially any old Holden or valiant we done a Resto on a wog farmers old val not long ago and literally the amount of bog fiberglass and flyscreen aluminium VB cansand pop rivits haha wild the things some people do to hide rust instead of just cutting it out treating it and welding fresh sheet it
Well said mate. Thanks for watching.
Another Beautiful Glassy Paint Job Glen 😊👍🍹
Cheers Mate, thanks for watching!
Thank to Glen and the team at completion and paint beyond my expectations. Would recommend Reid for all you paint and restoration.
The team do good work hey 😄👍 Some Peanut the other day wrote some real negative shit about Glen & i told him to piss off from the comments column platform ! Ive been checking this shops work for 12 months now & never seen a average job yet ! Glen puts it all out there on video along with his reputation ! He wouldn't do that if he & his team were doing crap jobs ! Im in Bundaberg Qld & My mate will be taking his 2004 Holden Statesman down to Glen later this year for full body paint 👍😊
I Really appreciate you saying that . Thank you Glen.
You never told me you clown i did the body work on this only car came out far an you must be blind if you say his work is far you must be a back yarder aswell happy to meet you at this shot an see how far you get to sayin piss off glen has no clue about panel he did not even have a panel hammer in the shop or welder hmmmmm back yard much an if it is there its stolen ....@@stevewilson8752
@@RayBel-vw6bc mate, you should probably learn how to read and write before posting. Your comment makes no sense whatsoever. 🤦♂️
looks good hope you pulled some of that dent out on the pillar that was a bad bog job from before
Thanks , yes got it to a point where it only needed a shallow skim over . Thanks for watching .
Nice work to all involved,i have a HR Wagon im building and you have given me tips on what to do with cleaning,i will have to go back around it to do that over all my welds
Cheers Mate, I hope my video helps with your build .
I owned a HR Premier, White in Color with Black upholstery, unbeknown to me, I didnt know how special it actually was, as it came from the factory with a 186 motor, 4 speed Opel Gearbox and Limited Slip Diff, apparently only 200 Premiers were made like that as a pre cursor to the base HK Monaro.
@@jamesmatheson5115 the one that got away. Thanks for sharing mate .
That front clip looked a lot like a subframe. Those A pillars looked a lot like B pillars.
Uummm, that's a HD sedan at 2:24 not a HR sedan. This HR was an automatic.
You guys have done a a amazing job and taken the element of doubt out of it for the owner well done
