- This is the James Logan High School Marching Band and Color Guard performing "Snakes, Lizards, and Dragons" at the WBA Championships in Clovis, CA. The group won with a score of 95.55. November 19, 2006.
this show is so much tighter than last year's as in 2005. D: i wish i was a part of it. :(
i'm so proud of my freshmen! :D

Had a fun freshman year.
I just watched wind dances from 2004...compared to this, that was godly. Makes you wonder...
Awesome job, seriously. I had a LOT fo fun watching you guys perform at finals ... Can't wait to see you again next year :3

This year over 290.
Well for the woodwinds and brass it's a 4 hour practice on tuesday and an 8 hour practice on saturday plus two school periods of practice for most of the musicians - M-F.
For the percussion and guard, they also have an additional practice on thursday for 4 hours (I think).
This is during the school year... Prior to the school year there's the usual 8 hour a day, about two week band camp.
All in all, the time commitment is great.

This year was a transition year. New brass teacher, less than ten seniors in the brass section, frosh who sucked but came around in MY section, tougher show.

PS if you look closely in the beginning, I am the trombone between the second and third tubas in the front row from the right. =P

Ha! In terms of design, I think this show blows the other ones out of the water. Now, if only the overall ability to get along on this site were just as classy.
umm... i'm pretty sure music arrangement is done by vince oliver with the band director, ramiro barerra. the drill is first done by scott chandler and then it's edited sometimes by the band director, ken karlin. all of these men work closely together. there could be a few more who help out (possibly a lot?) but these are definitely the main players.

Yes, but it seems that this musical package is also more demanding than pretty much any other show I have watched on here with the exception of 1999. The visual demands also seem more complex. I think a show like this would contend better on a national level.
they couldnt do better than fourth, lol, no seniors on it, best person was a junior, and only one good person too...
...and you guys will get there in terms of execution. However, the individual and ensembles demands in this show both visually and musically blow anything prior to it out of the water. Once you gain the consistency and same level of execution that you were achieving on your slightly easier shows then, watch out.
I'd say this was a down year. Others think otherwise, but it's hard for me to connect. We lost a lot of people after last year, Secret Garden.
Our guard competes against other guards around the country. I believe they have like a 10 year winning streak after their last winning performance?

Honestly, I think the reason why this was kind of a shaky season, like said above, the new staff, PLUS just the way Glyde writes, real good music, but far more demanding in my opinion than past years. I'm sure next year, if people realise what is expected of them, will be a lot better. Go drumline haha.

Has nothing to do with how old you are...It's with your smarts and technique. Almost no one on the snare line knew how to play traditional correctly. Maybe this year will be better...maybe
