If they don't change their sound they will not be something great that's for sure. I wish they could bring back rock to the popular scene but it is not by doing basically the same thing someone else did 50 years ago that this will happen. GVF are very talented and should use this to sound like GVF. Also on a side note I think that Zeppelin had more depth in their song like how Jimmy Page involved the occult in his song writting and his live performances. Also if you play guitar just to show off in front of people well it's useless. Play guitar because you like it, not because it is something trendy

Hunterend07 this is very true. And they aren’t “the start” there are other Rock N Roll bands out there, people just aren’t looking for it. Slash Le Pew well, we have others like The Rival Sons (been going for a while now), Sweden has a whole crap ton of Rock N Roll going on and has for a while too. I could make a list here, but my point is these guys are VERY talented and I think as long as they push more into what they have brewing on a track like black smoke rising which pushes off the Zep vibe a bit more, they will carve out their special place. But I want to make sure he other great RockN Roll musicians get attention! Long live Rock!

Similar to Led Zeppelins rise, bands are gonna be influenced and sound like other bands. It is how it works. GVF is most definitely developing a unique sound. Can tell as more and more music comes out. Get off your high horse and start appreciating the music being made.

    • @GoldberryVideos
      @GoldberryVideos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

So if people don't agree with your taste in music they are suddenly 'wrong' and 'on a high horse'? Led Zeppelin rose to fame because they did not sound like anything that came before! Play some of the old blues records that Page and Plant loved to listen too and see if you can find any of them that sound as similar to Zep as GvF does to Zep. They sound a lot like Led Zeppelin and you know it. I don't say that there is anything wrong with that, i'm merely stating that that is the reason for a lot of people (including me) to not find them as special as people are saying they are. And thats just an opinion, so please explain to everyone why we are all on 'high horses' for disliking GvF because they (in our eyes) don't bring anything new to the table.

    • @ChaseMeTV

Led Zeppelin did sound like bands that came before. They were heavily influenced and were constantly called for "ripping off" others in the beginning. Such as Janis Joplin. Plant was very obviously heavily influenced by her stage mannerisms. Point is influences aren't a bad thing, and shit, Zeppelin is a damn good thing to sound like. They are still young and developing, yet to even release an album. They are extremely talented and are making great music and are still young. If you find them far less special because they sound like Zeppelin, that's a bit confusing to me. All bands sound similar to another band somewhere. In a lot of the music GVF sounds like Rush and many others. People over-analyze shit too much, if it's good music, it's good fucking music.
Also, to say they aren't bringing anything new to the table.....who else is making this kind of music in today's world? No one. They are making new god damn music.
People are on their high horses for hating on GVF only for sounding like Zep, because Zep DID THE SAME THING. Very simple. Just appreciate good music when it finally comes around.

Yeah.... it's the blues connection helping drive this thing. In the tradition of Zeppelin here - they're recapturing the classic hard rock and metal sound - with its blues roots - and its grabbing people. Plus a lot of that mystical prose and poetry from the classic bands. And yeah, the hair and the duds and the minimalist stage presence are cool. I saw many of the classic 60s and 70s groups in live concert - and these guys bring back the joy for me. No frills and no BS..... just very very good musicianship and real chemistry between them. And the drummer reminds me a lot of Bonham, BTW.

It's because the comedian isn't trying to be that actor...it's just a comedic bit. thats cool. but these guys are just imitating zep and trying to take credit for being just as naturally talented.
also, any music similarities with zep's past were obviously coincidence since they wrote a bazillion other gnarly original tunes. this bad doesn't deserve notoriety on talent.

Yes but the Weeknd is not being made to suffer for the fact he sounds like Michael Jackson, but these guys are getting 'called out' for sounding like LZ and the term 'called out' carries a negative connotation and is associated with negative criticism. That is the very first thing you see with this TH-cam video are those words 'called out' in large letters, which then serves to influence the viewer, at the very outset in a negative way towards GVF. Just remember a lot of people will only look at that headline and nothing else. You have to be very careful how things are phrased because the world is watching and making decisions and it has impact on this highly talented young band. The thought that went into that headline was machiavellian as in the actual interview the guy says they should 'embrace it'. when referring to the fact they sound like LZ.

I am 56 and I woke up for work this morning with the highway
song buzzing in my head from the night before, funny how music can do that, I
think the most notable trait of these young guys and their music is their
ability to rekindle a long dwindled adrenal rush music used to give me.
Consider I lived through the British invasion and listened to the birth and
development of the biggest bands ever to blaze trails into all our lives. What
is cool is that Led Zeppelin rose to fame at a time when the world was ready
for them and they were not hindered with familiarity and saturation of the
genera they would eventually posses , in other words they were not hindered by
some of the hurdles GVF has had to overcome , all this music has been done
before and done to death for decades , the fact that these guys are catching on
so quickly despite that, is testament to just how talented they are , the
cohesiveness of their sound the lyrics melodies tempo timing beat inflections
and blazing stunningly unique vocals by Josh are what make GVF able to bulldoze
through a jaded audience deadened by decades of musical mediocrity and ignite
the excitement in people garnishing reactions such as the ones on this blog, to
simply say as some have that GVF is reminiscent of Led Zeppelin and that is
their appeal is crushingly marginalizing , my God listen to the acoustic
version of Black Smoke Rising, Edge of Darkness OMG these are genuinely
masterful songwriters singers and musicians. These guys are on fire and I can’t
wait to hear what comes next. I still remember how it felt when I got my first
Zeppelin, Stones , Floyd LP and so many other monster talents, the only reason
I can remember , and I am being completely sincere in saying this , is that
after listening to this entire track , for the first time in decades I felt it
again I want to have all my friends over and crank this cool new album buy this
new band Greta Van Fleet in its unstoppable infancy and we will all play air
guitar and get buzzed laugh and not give a fuck about anything because the
music is doing the talking and pulled us all out of our heads to let us live in
the moment, that's some serious spiritual currency . Peace Everybody,,,,,, Darren.

Always intriguing how people find it necessary to say they don't like something. If you don't like it then don't listen. Why spend your time and energy? You could spend that same time commenting on something you like and supporting it.

Need more throwback bands like this! As far as them using Zepplin as a model or a template of course they did, doubt it was a plan from the start though. I think more it seems more likely that they tend to fall toward the rock n roll and folk n blues grooves from a lot of bands and it just so happens to materialize in an earls court kinda way!

They don’t sound like Zeppelin anyway they sound like a blues based classic rock outfit. Now I like rock so I welcome Greta van Fleet’s contribution.

So happy rock is coming back!! I was a teenager in the 70s and miss the music from that decade. GVF writes amazing songs. Josh's voice is amazing and totally his own. Comparisons to Zep, yeah I get it but GVF really have their own sound. I went to a Foo Fighter concert and the opening band is great too. The Struts, check out the song Kiss This. GVF thank you for being such an amazing band, this hippie is very happy.😊😊

I know these guys sound like Zeppelin, however, i dont think its intentional....i think the singer just moves and sings what he feels...these guys are just awesome!!!

Delimama the band has said and especially the guitarist in multiple interviews they studied all things zeppelin.
The guitarist has said multiple times he intentionally tried to emulate Paige's sound.
So it's just coincidence that they sound like the band they tried to sound like?
      Oooooo k.

Phil Lop yup. How can someone look at their singer on stage and see that he wears lowrider bell bottoms, with a large belt and buckle, shirtless with a leather vest and a beaded necklace. While literally poorly copying all of Robert Plant's stage mannerisms and say its coincidence?

They same angle was labeled on The TeaParty back in the day. "Oh he sounds like Jim Morrison".
Its so genuine with Greta and frankly I hear AC/DC vocals and Rush Geddy Lee in there too. Let these young guys shine...and as the commentator said they will bridge the generation and probably cause a boom in Classic Rock and the likes of our beloved Led Zeppelin. The originals are all retiring...peace on
