Been playing music sense 1967 . Play 6 instruments + . And a music instructor . Played in Big Bands ,Country Bands , Show Bands . Trios . Single act + Played with friends and myself with several national acts . Gave lessons to others who have played with national acts . Done TV , radio concerts .... + To me this is the one single most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard .
One of the most beautiful renditions on this "celestial" song I have ever heard. And of course, only Luke Goetze can do this. For he is innately talented from Heaven for sure. Thanks kind Sir for sharing this beauty with us.
The ten seconds of video after you stop at the end...required for most of us to just sit and shake our heads in disbelief at what we’ve just heard. Superb and very tasteful cover. Well done.
"I think if Nick Drake was (NOT were) alive to hear this, he would be blown away!". I believe that MOST musicians and many that are not musicians, would be blown away at the talents of Luke Goetze. I have been playing and taught the steel guitar for over 70 yrs; and he is one of THE greatest players I have ever seen. He has a "touch and tone", that few will ever have. Awesome! It has to be innate, for that can not be learned IHMO.
@@MrPatdeeee When you correct someone only to find out that you are the one who is wrong... "Were" is correct. Reminds me of the English teacher who tried to tell me that "They" is not a personal pronoun for gender neutral context. smdh
I've had this on repeat for about half an hour now!! I've always liked this song, but it lends it self SO well to this instrument. And you play it beautifully.
Absolutely love this. My favorite cover was Lee Ritenour. But this. Wow. Phenomenal. I’m guessing you are playing the guitar on the backtrack (?). Well done!
I live just south of Nashville. I wish you could visit sometime . You could play both these classics and your own compositions. The quality of musicians is awesome, but you would be unique in this Guitar town. You could play some outstanding venues and be appreciated by Music lovers and meet some very supportive peers!
I have no words to comment all your performance. I'm speacheless. Just wish you all the best and thank you for your time shared with us. With love greetings from Rome@Italy
I convert many of his videos to mp3s . . . love it when they come up in my playlist! I also use an adblocker so my veiws don't pay : ( So, I was real grateful to find the Tip Jar a while back! (It's in the description below the video).

I just realize this is how I learned about Nick Drake. Thank you sir!
Christ, man, I keep coming back to listen to this. Beautiful.
Good call. Christ was a man but God at the same time. So hard to fathom for sure.
@@GTRalso Sure he was, champ.
I just listened to this with headphones and was transported to another dimension of existence.
Nick Drake used so many alternate tunings that he can be difficult to figure out sometimes. Picked this out right away, very well done.
Yes, and I was almost shocked when I found that this one is in standard tuning!
I'm dumbfounded, spellbound, speechless. This is heavenly and brain-tickling for someone with extreme sound sensitivity
What you've done with the panned acoustic guitars needs to be mentioned as well, that in itself is really rewarding to listen to!
Thanks! Nylon on the left and steel string on the right.
a Nick Drake cover on lapsteel. that is awesome
I believe if old Nick was still around, he would love this! :)
Most excellent cover!
Your Arrangement and production are Outstanding. Hauntingly Beautiful. 😎
Nick Drake's music is haunting special and River Man one his best..Your interpretation capytures the melancholy and is simply gorgeous!

Stunning and hauntingly beautiful treatment of a classic Drake tune. I'm still mesmerized....
What a lovely interpretation of a song from the great Nick Drake. Heavenly.
Breathtaking. Flawless technique, but one doesn't even care about that as much as the soaring places this takes you.
I have listened to this countless times. It is so comforting, calming, and peaceful. It's almost putting me to sleep now.
a real poem and 4 minutes of fulness between the disasters. Thank's Luke!
Beautiful cover version of a great song. This is why I love TH-cam.

You had me floating along a slow moving river and dreaming.
Apparently, this song was made for steel. Incredible. Thanks.
I think I’ve listened to this five times today. Utterly mesmerizing. Thank you, Luke, and thank you, Nick Drake!
You have put some really nice renditions but man, this one is beautiful.

A pillow full of hauntingly beautiful sounds to rest my tired ears against
Love these recordings. They're just ahhhhhh...Thank you sir.
I love the slide twang it brings to a totally non-country song. Opposites do attract. Incredible skills, I pull my hat.
This is an instrument mastered, and what an inspiration. Unique. Just fabulous.
WOW !!! Breathtakingly beautiful
Amazing! I'm going through your videos the all day.
Hauntingly beautiful
Hauntingly beautiful...lyrically executed with finesse.
Wow! I was completely transported somewhere else while listening to this. Amazing.
What a beautiful performance; Brilliant
Your playing and tone are incredible. But the backing tracks are the unsung hero here! Such tasteful strumming and "string" parts. So good!
I got lost listening to this. In a good way. just...compelled to listen for what would come next.
Man this lap steel adds so much to this tune! Well done Luke!
Gorgeous
Some hints of Jeff Beck's phrasing there ❤️
Have it on loop .All day .
Put a smile on my face this morning. Thanks Luke.
