Thanks for the detail explanation. Please review my understanding is correct 1. S11 S22 S33 is for X Y Z directional stress by default 2. In order to see Hoop stress, I need 1) to create Local coordinate system by "Tool - Coordinate system - Create - Cylindrical" 2) to change result - option - Transformation - User specified" and choose the name of the Cylindrical one then click ok. Then the result contours are changed as shown in 4:17 3. The dropdown menus of S11 S22 S33 don't get changed. 1) S11 = Radial (thickness direction, from inside to outside) 2) S22 = Hoop 3) S33 = Axial ? (there is no mention in this vid)
@@gam2109yamaha 5 years late... but this isn't correct. The model uses 2D plane strain elements. This assumes that there is no axial strain. However, there will be constant axial stress due to Poisson's effect.
hello sir Mohammed Saber ,thank you for this video, i have one question , i have modeled hollow sphere in abaqus , ihave applied radial displacement at inner surface , but when i have run my job ,i get error,
thank you for this video sir, read sir, how can a hollow sphere under internal pressure be modeled with zero displacement on the outer surface with abaqus
If you look on the U1 and U2 on this work, you can see the deformation is not uniform in 360 deg. One location it will be maximum and opposite site will be the minimum. In reality it is not like this. Deformation will be uniform all 360 deg as the load is symmetric. Can you please tell me why simulations show such a wrong result.
Dear M Saber I want to obtain the hoop and radial stress in 3D tube, i have a question,.i define the coordinate system by the same manner or there is an other method? thank you
There is another method in which you define the cylinderical coordinate system in the .CAE file ask ABAQUS to pass this coordinate system to the .odb file. I may record a video on this method and publish it soon.
thank you but i need to know define the cylindrical coordinate system in the .CAE file ask ABAQUS to pass this coordinate system to the .odb file, because i have a lot of jobs based on this information. please if you have any data about this problem please send it to me abdelrahman.essa.ali@gmail.com Research assiastant at faculty of engineering, Alexandria University
Dear M Saber This is kindly remember to send to me how to define the cylindrical coordinate system in the .CAE file ask ABAQUS to pass this coordinate system to the .odb file. Thanks in advance
Passing the local coordinate system (cylindrical in your case) from .CAE to the .odb is available when the load is concentrated force or moment. It is not available when the load is pressure. What is the type of loading do you use?
For calculating thickness of pipe, i needed value of Circumferential Stress of ASTM a106 gr b, Can anyone help me out with the value? I could not find it on google

Axial stresses are along the length as their is no part in Z direction or along the length so there is no axial stress

i applied displacement BCs,
in this case did i have problem with passing the local coordinate ??
Don't you have to constrain it somehow ?
