      Don't really see the point in the blenderized meals. It wastes a lot of time for his family members, he can't taste it anyway, and meanwhile it is imperfect nutrition (as 99% of normal people's diets are) when he could be receiving near perfect nutrition via medical supplements.

    His story resonated a little with me. When I was about 6 years old, about the same age when he suffered his accident, I fell down the stairs, after that I remember waking up in an ambulance taking me to the hospital, but... unlike him, fortunately, I was absolutely fine. No serious injury.
    But I fell down the stairs.. What COULD have happen? It frighten me to think about that. Maybe if I had felt down in a slightly different way I would have broken my neck and become quadriplegic and this would have changed my whole life, I wouldn't be the person I'm today, my life and my family's life would have been waay harder.
    This video just made me to think about this event that happened all those decades ago. I was just lucky, my accident became just some old childhood memory that I sometimes remember it existed just to forget it 5 minutes later.

I have no doubt that his parents love him but what happens when they are gone? Fausto Levantesi - I have a disability, I’m blind and I use a wheelchair full time.
      I cling to the days that I leave the house to go acoustic rifle shooting.
      I don’t get to see people other than the people at the shooting club and my carer.
      I would love to continue my education and get out of the house more.

    I am deeply sorry for Jascha's condition but what's the point of keeping him alive. Where does his life leads to? And those math classes... come on! what a joke! "Jasha learns like the other students do"... then the teacher shows him something, Jasha blinks, done.... what's that good for? you are deluding yourself, all the people around him. You think you are doing good, but you are not.

    • @unknownentity7964
      @unknownentity7964 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I am similar to Jasha. I use my eyes to controll everything I do. They said that mentally he is aware of everything. Just because you aren't aware of what his day to day life experience is, doesn't mean that from that short clip you understand what his entire existence is like. With my eyes and head/mouth I can drive a wheelchair, I'm doing a computer science degree at the moment, I can play video games, chat with friends, browse youtube, make comments like this! It's absolutely a life worth living. It's a big difference to someone able bodied though so I can understand why so many people say they'd rather be dead and once I said the same but you just adjust and move on. There's so much tech to help these days. And living in the UK, I'm not burden on my family. I live in my own flat, I'm not bankrupting them just to live. It's a shame that so much of the discussion I see where people talk about how much of a burden a disabled person is, how when parents die the sibling is stuck with them forever etc but that's not the disabled person's fault, it's the fault of a country that hasn't got enough systems in place that you don't need to sacrafice either your life or your bank balance just to give someone a life. Even with blinks, it's more than enough to communicate when given patience. Look at Stephen Hawking. They clearly described how they knew that he wanted to live, if he didn't it would be easy to have let him go if that's what he desired. Try asking and understanding, not just viewing it through the lens of your own existence

      @@unknownentity7964 Thanks for your comment. I really changed my mind after reading this. In fact I myslef occasionaly meet quadriplegics and similar in train or in the streets and often they have the most genuine smile and radiate positivity whilst common ppl often (here in Eastern Europe where I live) are grumpy by default. I am not sure why it is but my hypothesis is that in our currenty system everything is too easy for ppl so they get bored and are unhappy while for disabled ppl even basic everyday things are challenging and overcomimg these makes them content?

      @@anonymnianonym you're welcome! I do absolutely understand why you'd have that view, as from the outside my life probably looks terrible if you're not aware of all the possibilities these days with assistive technology and such.
      Even people mildly disabled aren't usually aware of the things I use that mean I can have a full functional life. I mean let's face it, plenty of able bodied people haven't even done a lot of the things I have! I think places of work are just starting to be aware of how disabled people can be useful to a company and the particular skills and outlook we bring that other people might not have.
      If I can help even 1 person in my lifetime to understand how people like me and the guy in this video are able to lead a life worth living then I'll be happy!
      I also am very aware that me living in the UK is a blessing that a lot of people don't have. A lot of other countries don't have funding for enough help we need so it's left to a family only. That's not fair for the person or the family, how can anyone live a full life if the constant worry is money and how to manage that long term. Plus having access to the right technology, wheelchairs, that kind of thing isn't standard everywhere and I'm also very grateful that I'm able to access that too. Without it, my life would be a lot worse
      I think everyone has things in their life that could be better if we had that 1 thing we need. Like, stable housing, education, money, people to support them, whether they have a disability or not. But it's a sign that society is evolving for the better that more and more of these people are being supported and allowed to reach their full potential!

      @@anonymnianonym you've got a good point about the success making it a lot easier to be satisfied in life compared to people without as many struggles. I know how much worse my life could be if I was even born just 5 years earlier so a lot of disabled people I know are more aware than most people about how truly lucky they are. They've often had bad times in hospital, in bed etc where they couldn't go out so when we can do those things, it's a lot more significant and worth being happy every day for. Whereas most able bodied people will view work as boring and a bad thing, I'm so excited to be working soon! It's all about perspective :) you're doing an awesome job that you're able to change your mind. A lot of people can't admit that

    Not a comment about the content but the way those documentaries are made. Multiple lectors with thick accents, unable to properly talk are incredibly annoying. You want English speaking people to watch this? Find one lector for all documentaries or even better - include subtitles and the original language will be retained. It will provide realism of what people are watching and serve as a reminder how international those documentaries are.
