I'm curious why some people are reporting that it takes 2.5 hours to charge this phone? I have this phone, and it charges in about 1 hour 20 mins tops...hmmm

Take two...the first upload had a mistake in it and so I pulled it. I mistakenly said it had a mono speaker which is not the case. It has stereo speakers, one on the earpiece and one on the bottom. BTW some really great speakers. Here is the correct version.
Always get the new Nexus every year and did not get the Pixel this time and probably won't. This may be it. No waterproof not a big deal. I don't go deep sea diving. I have the 6P now and it's still a very good device but the Mate 9 seems to have it all even with the lower resolution. The verdict from several reviews is that the screen is gorgeous. Camera also looks at least as good as the 6P but I bet it's better.
centfla I'm coming from the Nexus 6p. the last update caused poor battery life. I went to get the Mate 9. I just turned it on, build quality is 10 x better than Nexus 6p. I don't believe that's a 1080p screen, it looks like a 2k screen. I'm actually surprised.

I just got this phone and wow amazing ive had them all gs7 gs7 edge nexus 6p and every iPhone up to the 7 as I need headphone jack .. so far this is the best one yet I had the axon 7 too but there is a major issue with the newest play store update and it wont download apps had to return it got this instead amazing phone !!!! great review !!!
I am using this phone for one year , it is awesome. Battery comes for 2 full days or 1.5 days even with extensive use. Fast charge is perfect. The zoom works like a optical zoom (trust me, it is the magic of dual lens) Excellent picture quality. The scheduled power off and on was my long wish and this phone surprised me. The two full day battery is due to this option :-) No cons so far. Gesture options, screen capture , photo or video are very easy to use Never experienced a lag. I have installed more than 300 apps.
I'm not to thrilled with the stereo speakers. Although the sound is great, the balance is about 80/20 rather than 50/50. I'm looking for a "media" control panel. but haven't found one yet.
got myself a mate 9. switched from IPhone 7 plus and I must say I'm very impressed. even compared to the s8 and s8 plus, I prefer the screen on the mate 9, not because of resolution because obviously quad HD blows it away, but rather for the dimensions, mate 9 has a gorgeous 5.9 inch with perfect dimensions. don't like the thin long displays on the samsungs. mate 9 manages to maintain a large screen while preserving the 16:9 ratio which is amazing !!!
Got one from Bestbuy just before Christmas for 399.99. For this price it is the best phone so far. One can spend 900 dollars on iphone7 or samsung S8 just to get the same or less as Huawei mate 9. I decided to try Huawei mate 9 for a change and save
I was very glad about how good the case fits. My previous phone, a Moto X Style/Pure, had a complementary bumper but it wiggled around on the device making it just unusable.

Love Huawei/Honor phones, but, no Verizon support is a deal breaker. In my area, Verizon is the only carrier, even then, I have to use a network extender to get a signal in my home. Come on Huawei, show us CDMA users some love!
I think you should lobby Verizon and Sprint to get with the GSM world standard instead. There are a lot of us who travel and base our decisions on the larger GSM smartphone offerings and therefore rule out CDMA carriers.
Last month I bought the v20 I should have waited for this phone, looks nice, I checked it out a couple days ago and looks nice, I don't know if I should wait or drop $600 now.

Well...there wasn't any phone case in my first nor second purchase(I've "killed" my first Mate 9 and bought the second). But although the Mate 20 Pro has come to market, I'm super happy with my Mate 9. Well, for now...don't want to jinx anything. Oh, and I didn't get any microUsb(maybe that's for the States- I'm from Europe...). And just to mention...those earphones are for real masochists- they hurt as hell after a short period of having them in your ears...anyone else?! Thank you for amazing video!

Andrew they definitely got it right and I hope the Big Companies are taking Note I know Google is just by the way they are coming out with all the new products.Like operating system they are trying.The Battery is the best.Awesome processor.Quality build. I think in this phone they are trying to get the best of Both Worlds.Now is it perfect no but it can definitely hold it's own and absolutely going in the right Direction. Lisa Allen not true... Battery lasts twice as long as any other phone. I'd rather have a phone I could use than one with some goody retina scanner but needed to be plugged in constantly.
Snapdragon definitely has a monopoly at least here in the U.S. But I think that is slowly changing with the release of the Mate 9 and the likes of Huawei as they make their own silicon.
I'm going to give Huawei a good job on this one it's a legitimate phablet only because the Note7 isn't present. No doubt the Note7 is the best phablet period Samsung is the phablet game period. Great job on the video.
You can tell when someone WANTS to give a positive review to a product. Every negative is followed buy a "but" and a justification. A 1080p display on a flagship phone is unacceptable, no matter how you slice it.
If you know my channel you know I love a hi res display. After using this device in person, the 1080p panel is excellent. I am not the only one who feels this way. In addition, the battery life is off the charts as a result (in addition to the 4000 mAh battery). Either way, I will not ding a company for using a 1080p panel just because there are higher resolution displays out there that they could have chosen to use. A good screen is a good screen. Thanks for the input.
AMDtech Yeah , battery life. the usual excuse for cutting cost with a much cheaper display. why not have both, a high res screen plus excellent battery life? Like the Pixels or Galaxy Edge, for example.

centfla Nexus 6p still amazing, will root mine. as for power use after the update, battery dies by 200pm which never occurred before.

actually it's more of surround system. bottom speaker gives you mids and low, and earpiece gives you the highs....

great review, whats the audio (through headphones) performance compared to something like the HTC 10 which is my current phone.
I haven't tested the audio in the HTC 10 but I hear it is excellent. The Mate 9 sounds great with headphones and I have had no issues. thanks!

The Mate 9 is a great smartphone, but there are always new devices being released. However if you need a smartphone now, its a great choice.

GSM only. AT&T and T-Mobile. I was able to use it with Project Fi (works on the T-Mobile part).
In order to use it on Project Fi, you must first activate the sim card on an approved device such as the Nexus 6P.
