    Improve your listening with the story "A Hair On My Plate". In this story, Pedro goes to a restaurant and finds a hair on his plate. He speaks to an employee and to the manager, but they won't give him another plate. Pedro keeps trying to get some kind of compensation, until finally he receives it.
    This story was carefully written using only words from the Spanish Input list. This list contains the 5,000 most common words in spoken Spanish. This story is free of useless words.
    This video was designed to help you improve your listening in Spanish. The recording of the story is clear but natural, using a neutral accent. The captions were manually typed and manually syncrhronized to the video.
    The Transcription Technique is a super effective way to work on your listening. The core idea is: First listen without any text, and type what you hear. After you've transcribed a few lines, go back and listen again with subtitles on. Mark all your mistakes on your transcript. This is by far the best language learning exercise I know. It helps you improve your listening, speaking, writing, grammar, vocabulary, etc.
    You can do Transcription exercises with pen and paper, or with a document on your computer. But the most straightforward way are the ear-training Anki flashcards I'm creating. You can find the flashcards for this story here. The deck is just $5:

    I bought your Anki cards for "Un Pelo en mi Plato" using your half price code and i thought you did a darn great EXCELLENT job, i really enjoyed them!!! The main reason i bought them was to see how you set them up, so that i could create my own story cards to improve my subjunctive and condicional in a large story that i created with Chat GPT (and used a mexican ai talent voice to create an audio story for me). I was able to understand everything you said already, but if you get any stories that are more difficult i will definitely be willing to purchase more to support your channel while keeping myself entertained. Keep up the great work amigo, you're amazing!!!!

    As a Spanish teacher I found this story also very interesting to learn the language. It would be great to have more dynanism in the illustrartions. I personally love creating stories on my channel with real comprehensible input and other techniques, but I also appreciate all of your work. Un saludo!

      Hi! Stress in Spanish is not the same as in English. In English the stressed syllable tends to have an obvious lengthening and an obvious change in pitch. In Spanish it's mostly a change in volume. It's just relatively louder. Relatively is the keyword here. I guess I need an entire video to explain it.

    I bought your MP4 package which includes the MP4 video with subtitles. Of course, I can turn the subtitles on and off on the TH-cam video. I have played the video I purchased with the Media Player and with PowerDVD. I can find no way to turn on the subtitles. There is no point in buying the MP4 if I cannot use the subtitles. Can you help me?

    • @spanishinput
      @spanishinput  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi. Are you on Windows or macOS?
      If you use Windows, the default Media Player is garbage. The only media player worth using is VLC: www.videolan.org/vlc/
      Open the video with VLC, and click on the "subtitle" icon in the left right corner. You'll see two options: Spanish and English. If you're using VLC in "classic mode" then you'll have a Subtitles menu on the bar on top.
      If you're using macOS, then you don't need to install anything. The default QuickTime player will show you a subtitle button.

    My issue is that I can transcribe this video completely and understand everything, but I can't understand everyday native speakers. I keep doing exercises such as these, but it seems like listening and transcribing neutral Spanish isn't helping me because nobody talks like this. Any suggestions?

    • @spanishinput
      @spanishinput  26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Of course. It seems you're up to a new challenge: Transcribing Radio Ambulante. It's a popular podcast with episodes from all Spanish America. If you're on Windows you can open the mp3 with Work Audio Book. If you use a mac, Work Audio Book is worth installing Parallels for.

    Gracias. Tengo mucha problemas para entender lo que otra personas estan deciendo 😢. Solo yo quiero escuchar a español por un mes. No inglés, solo español. Yo se mucha palabras, más o menos 2,750 palabras. Pero cuando escucho a español me toma demasiado tiempo para entender lo que oí. Y incluso más tiempo para responder. Me di cuanta que no puedo mantenerles el ritmo y me vuelve loco 😡😞. Todo los días escucho a español y no mejoré. Por dios, la música que me gusta es reggaeton y todavía no puedo entender todo lo que dicen en las canciones. Ha pasado 4 años y aun así tengo la misma problema. No debería tener esta problema. Cuando las personas en mi trabajo me hablen no les entendí la mayoría de las veces. Pero Les prometí a ellos y me prometí que algún día hablaré con fluidez y tener el poder de entender todo, pero me siento cómo un fracaso 😞. Ayer, yo veía una película se llama “No Manches Frida” sin subtítulos y solo entendí 20% de lo que oí. Hace 40 minutos yo terminé viendo una otra película se llama “Super Papa” y este vez con subtítulos pero todavía apenas podía entender. No puedo traducir las palabras en mi mente con suficiente velocidad 😞😞😞😞. No me quedan mucho tiempo por que tengo que regresar a la escuela el mes que viene. Me siento que rendirme pero se que las personas que rendirse, nunca van a aprenderlo. Así que nunca puedo rendirme. Ahora si, como lo hago 😢😢??? Al fin del día yo creo que la única manera que voy a aprender este idioma es si me mudo a un otro país donde TENGO QUE hablar solo español y no otro idioma. Es la única manera.
