This proves that tennis IQ is so important in tennis. Alex clearly much fitter and athletic, but still gets beaten by a more clever player
this had nothing to do with IQ. he aso isnt ceary fitter. this had a to do with FH and BH and serve.

I'm kind of glad that Evans beat De Minaur because if he didn't, we would not have got the following Kyrgios/De Minaur doubles match and that one was equally as amazing if not more
Surprisingly great match. Evans is a bit of a black horse; his physical stature underwhelming, yet has a high tennis IQ. It shines brightly when going up someone as athletic as De Minaur

@Jcorb in this match he recognised the fact that Alex is a counter punching defensive baseliner, who is also significantly younger than Dan and hasn't fully grown into his frame. This means Alex has trouble generating his own pace of shot on a no-pace ball, in this case that's Dan Evans' slice backhand. Dan continued to play the slice backhand which forced Alex to hit up on the ball, thus allowing Dan to attack on the next ball and put Alex in a defensive position. Also remember that every singles rubber that Alex played prior to this one went three sets, so fatigue did play its part.
Evans is a Tactical Beast! He knows exactly when to attack or when to hold back, watch him play Backhand rallies and it will be Exemplary! 🔥

Like he was a "tactical beast" in his match vs khachanov? Sometimes he shows very poor sportsmanship.
How evans managed to pull this one out with that crowd and the level de minaur was playing at is beyond me

Forget about Alcaraz, Daniil etc - Alex is the fastest man I've ever seen watching lots of tennis over nearly 40 years. There have been others close - Chang, Rafa, Novak, Edberg, Kriek, Monsfils - but no one *_quite as quick_* about the court...
