    A close scoreline dont suggest he played bad. Total 84 winners to 31 errors shows high quality of match. Roger scored 56 winners and only 17 unforced errors. He didn't play bad with such positive ratio. Dan was playing really awesome with 28 winners and 14 error. but in key moments Roger pulled through.

    My goodness. 17 UE and 56 winners for Fed. 14 and 28 for Evans. Both 1st serve pct are over 60%. That's some high quality tennis right there. And Evans isn't a serve-volley player (There are usually more winners when the opposition is a S&V player), which makes it even more impressive!

    It’s a great match up. Love watching Dan Evans play..he’s very stylish and inventive and a bit similar to Federer with his slices and single backhand. He’s quite underrated I feel. He’s a beautiful tennis player but margins are so tight as this elite level. He can beat Roger but he really needs a bit of luck and to be playing out of his skin. I could watch these two play each other again and again.

    • @saidmiranda1989
      @saidmiranda1989 5 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Philtrum Phileo You have to struggle when you play someone who is playing high quality tennis. Evans was just amazing, never saw that coming. It was a tough test for Roger that ended in 3 sets, so it’s perfect for his intentions.

    • @saidmiranda1989
      @saidmiranda1989 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @none I agree with the fact that Roger didn't play an impressive match. He's far from his 2017 version or even his 2018 AO version. But Evans was up to the challenge, and at some point (first set tiebreak) he believed in victory. Of course Roger could have ended things much earlier, but Evans came to play, and Roger focused enough to avoid losing a set, which could have been bad. So it was a good challenge for him. He knows that his upcoming rivals are going to be more dangerous and determined, so he better step up his game and sharpen his shots.
      And his rivals have not played some crazy stuff as well. Rafa is playing ok, but his rivals have not been a good parameter. Djokovic is a fucking wall, but he hardly hits a winner nowadays.That's becoming a real problem for him right now. He can be overpowered, something that wasn't possible before. Still, he can win playing like that (USO 2018). So it's been only two rounds, few things to say and it's hard to predict something. Let's wait for the next rounds.

    • @saidmiranda1989
      @saidmiranda1989 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      none Hahaha, sorry, my friend, for my disappointing selection of words:). But seriously, Djokovic sometimes becomes a human wall, testing the patience of his rivals beyond limits. But his lack of aggression may cost him tough, long matches. After Tsonga, he’s more likely to face Shapovalov and Medvedev. Tough tests. And yeah, tennis is now a baseline slugfest, it has its moments but I do prefer some variety, quick points, killing shots. Anyway, we’re in the middle of a GS and things are about to get more exciting. Let’s see.

    Evans sometimes plays exactly like Roger, and served and played well all match. But the maestro's improved his forehand, it's the best I've seen since he switched over to the new racket. Backhand's not 2017 (I don't think it'll ever be that level again), but not far behind. He can battle with it. Everything that was wrong at the end of last year seems fixed.
    I always wonder why Fed's level dips a bit after Wimbledon the last couple of years but gets a boost at the start of the year. He's taking too much time off after Wimby?
