I'm not sure what they're doing to help the penguins thrive. Are they getting rid of invasive species that are killing them?

yes, so they are trapping the introduced species (ferrets, stoats, possums etc.)

The girl putting out the trappings did not have to dangle the deceased stoat's body like that, She acts like she's enjoys the killing too much. The stoats are doing what they need to do to survive and to feed their babies. They were brought there by careless people. i hope they're humane when the animals are put down and are not made to suffer slow painful death from ingesting poison.

I wish they wouldn't kill the animals to get rid of them. That's why it's very important to spay and neuter your pets and don't let them roam around outdoors. I'm lucky to have organizations nearby that fix ferals for little to no price. These people should invest in live traps, maybe get the animals fixed and relocated or put into a shelter.
