@@peachkracka Ah I see what you mean, normally I place regular shims between the bearing and the pinion to close the gap on the ring gear, what is different about a clutch bell shim, does it have a spring load effect to it? I also apply a thin coat of white lithium grease on these gears which also make it more quiet and help take up some of the slop.
I currently race a PR 401R and really like the platform will all the aluminum bits, I see a lot of similarities with the S14, since you have a PR too, have taken the chance to compare parts to see if the aluminum C hubs and spindles are compatible?
Great video, it's fun to watch you guys. What is the best choice for durability and ride, regardless of price in 1/10 in your opinion? .....S14-3.....st4 2.0.....PRSB 401RT.....
My pr truggy is very nice especially for the price…but if sworkz made a 1/10 truggy I’d get that instead… I now have a sworkz 1/8 buggy, 1/8 truggy, and now the 1/10 buggy… I love their kits…I’ve never broke one thing on either of my 1/8th scale kits and that’s with over thirty packs through both of them. On my s14-3 I’ve broke a couple things… I’d recommend aluminum rear hubs, but that goes for any 1/10th kit…overall the s14-3 would be my choice over anything else out there… rc1-racing has sworkz and now beach rc has sworkz too…
Tip I got from Joe Bornhorst: Use nitro clutch bell shims on the diff pinions to push them closer to the diff and the car will be much more quiet.
are you referring to the planetary gears inside each of the 3 diffs? Which gear, the larger "Sun" gears or the smaller "Planet" gears?
@@billdelong Not the internal spider gears or the ring “sun” gear, the pinion gear that attaches to the center shaft.

@@billdelong the clutch bell shim is the shims I had that fit.
@@peachkracka got it, thanks!
you made it sound like clutch bell shims were something different than an ordinary shim, ha!
