Second aria of the Fauno from Mozart's 'Ascanio in Alba'. Cutest thingie on Earth ^^ Weird production, as all the Salzburger Festspiele's, but Diana saves the show lol This one's from 2006.
An extraordinary timbre with the full tone I find most pleasant in the coloratura repertoire. That, added to Damrau's great sense of style and phrasing, turns her interpretation not only technically impressive, but also most agreeable to the ears. The fioriture is sung with clear and rounded notes and there are always distinctive inflections and shadings. And she can also captivate an audience!
OH DEAR LORD...I just about lost it when she handed him those 3D glasses, I was laughing so hard. As if this wasn't random enough...no, he's gotta have himself some 3D glasses.
Well, this particular opera is not so often performed. It was the first time she could 'perform' the role instead of just sing the arias. Actually, I find the swing quite amusing :D The rest of the opera sucks (I'm talking about the production, obviously, the music is amazing), but Diana's bits are not that terrible. And she just SO cute! lol
You know what makes sense? Those fridges in the background. I mean...why shouldn't they be there? Nothing is out of place here....least of all her feet. Those are what a shepard's feet look like! Duh! :-D

I just bought this horrendous DVD just for her two scenes...

Yep! It was one of the 22 Mozart operas that were filmed in last year's Salzburger Festspiele.
Brilliant as usual. *dreamy sigh*
The castrato in the first performance was called Adamo Solzi
4:50 a 3D glasses? Why?
best of best ...
PHENOMENAL!!!!
i love her song! she is the best!
She added a high F# in the final cadenza :)

it is an F isn't it??! the piece is in Bb-Major- so an F# wouldn't make sense. and my piano tells me it's an F too^^
lovely
Oh, yes, you may be right. I think I was 'tuned' a bit higher that day :)
@anyany He is not a singer, he is a narrator. Diana does NOT have a microphone.
I'm really proud of you :D
You're right. Well, most Salzburger Festspiele's productions are similar. The only one I like is 'Le Nozze di Figaro'.

You're very welcome, as always ;)
Dessay sings the whole aria in her "Mozart Heroines" cd :)
Apparently there was...
She added it, so it wasn't originally written in the score. I guess you're right, then :)
Oh my, that was hilarious ROFL
@LeCoconut It's Salzburg! That's what you get xD
Did she give him a pair of polarized lenses and then told everyone in the audience to put theirs on? Is there a 3D part of the show?
but we all know that she has an F# too, even a high G!
Why thay has a mic??
Weeeeeeeeell, if you have to siiiiiing, maybe it is a bit scary xD
XDDD
Wonderful singing, but(in the case of the director) the lunatics have finally taken over the asylum!
wtf is up with the 3D glasses....these productions r MAD weird lmaooo!!! Damrau is amazing though!! :)
@Lilith89ibz she//
No tengo ninguna intención, no te preocupes XD Y eso que Sonia Prina canta bien... Pero la producción apesta.
