    Thanks as always Arti --I have a bunch of the same vintage computers that you have, i think. A TRS-80 Model 1 and 3. I've also got an Apple ][e, i should dig it out and try writing a few discs. I only have one drive, but pretty sure it is in working condition.
    My other vintage machines are: a Timex-Sinclair 1000 & 2068, 2 Commodore 64s and a 128, TI 99/4a, Atari 600XL and a few 90s Apples. Love these old machines. But for me, it all stated with the TRS-80 Model 1 in 1978, and it's still my favorite today.

    I suggest downloading a better disk test program that checks speed and alignment. Both are easily adjusted on these drives, and they drift. If one drive is way out of spec, it will still be able to read disks it creates, but they may not work in another drive that IS in spec. Since you have two drives, one quick and dirty test is to make a make a disk on one drive then put it in the other drive to make sure it's bootable/readable.
