Nearly $4k in alimony is absurd, no wonder why Alan was trying to save the wedding lmao
Thanks to Charlie, who slept with and then broke up with Alan's lawyer, who took out her anger on him by promising the ridiculously large amount of money to Judith.
Considering that they're in California not really
Plus over 3k in child support
@@thecommonsenseconservative5576 What do you need 4 thousand dollars a month for to raise a child?!

“The Spanish inquisition was a bad time, this is hell.” That’s such a great line 😂
I have to give praise to Marin Hinkle the actress who play Judith. She played her part absolutely perfect as a miserable, horrible woman.
I remember reading that she didn't liked playing her because she was terrible, absolutely no redeeming qualities.
I mean, her only likeable trait was her love for Jake but even she started hating him as the seasons went on.
I've heard she hated her character and disagreed with how she treated Alan. I think she was brilliant as Judith, you couldn't help but not like her
She is as hot as any of the gals on this show
She did a fantastic job in the role. But I can see her point as Judith is a horrible person. Perhaps if they had some of the writers who created Peg Bundy or Marcy D’arcy it would’ve worked better?
She was earning $500k per episode. I'd play the devil for half of that.
"You got a sister?"
"Down Charlie!" 😆😆😆
In the end Charlie's karma came fill circle 🔵 when he slept with Herb's sister.
$3875 no wonder Alan was so cheap and broke he had to make sure he always had nearly $4,000 to give to Judith
Given that he hardly ever seemed to be at work, how much did he charge for his osteopathy that he had $4,000 to give her?
A chiropractor who lives in California could've earned at least 5-6 grand easily. Depends where do you live.
@@ArcadeArea $4k leaves him with $1k-$2k which isn't that much to live off of in California tho. They're in Malibu/SoCal area so we can assume the $6k. He also has to pay for child support in one form or another. The fact that he lives with Charlie saves him a lot tho. Doesn't have to pay for housing or home utilities.
What about the child support? Over 2k and she still made him buy expensive shoes and crap, then threatened him with the lawyer he would have to pay for. Looking back, Judith was the biggest leech, Alan came in 2nd because he had to
That was just alimony. Can you imagine the child support? Lol. Charlie screwed him good.
Can't blame Alan in the slightest for trying to salvage the wedding. Paying $46.5K a year (half the average Chiropractor's salary in 2007) to someone who hates you is a straight-up prison sentence.
$46.5k and the house 😢
Don't forget child support!
@@DavidSmith-pg1obWas going to say this. He is prob paying like 5K total
You're leaving out the fact that he has to pay his taxes before paying alimony
@@DavidSmith-pg1obhe was also paying alimony to Candy too

Judy Greer was low key hot 🔥
I liked Myra because she put Judith on her place!!!😂
The actress who was Myra was also Bridget later.
I also love the natural chemistry she had with Charlie, sucks she was getting engaged.

Since when is alimony a real thing?
for the last 50 years

I would have gone with... "It only seems ten years longer."

Hahaha Spanish inquisition was a bad time, this is Hell.... let's get one with the big check hahah classic
Alimony shouldn't exist. she's adult enough to provide for herself.
She was clearly a strong and independent woman
She was doing this to make Alan suffer.
@@BillyButcher90 - To be fair, we all wanted to see Alan suffer.
Alimony should exist. They just shouldn't give it out so freely. My neighbor did not work for 25 years and stayed home with the kids because her husband refused to let her work. He use to hit her. When he decided he was through with her because he found a 20 year girl to replace her, he tried to throw her out of the house with their 2, 14, and 17 year old (and they had a 24 year old). She had only minimal work experience when she was a teenager. The judge gave her the house because he "didn't want the kids" and gave her minimal child support ($100 a kid). The judge gave her no alimony even though he made over $250k a year. A year later she was losing the house because she couldn't pay the remaining mortgage. Fortunately, one of her family members bailed her out. He got a promotion at work and she took him back to court. This time the family member helped pay for a lawyer. She got alimony and they hugely increased child support to $500/kid per month plus a lump sum of $25k, and ordered him to pay for college for the 17 year old and set up college savings for the other two. No one should have to suffer from excessive alimony, but the kids and spouse that got mistreated shouldn't lose their entire lives due to their selfishness. She did try to work at the best jobs she could get!
Palimony (paid to a stay at home or lesser earner husband) also exists.
No wonder Alan never wanted to move out of Charlie's house, he probably couldn't afford a home or apartment in California while paying nearly $4k in alimony.
Plus child support.
In 2007 money
Holy crrappp. Even in 2024 that is a lot of alimony per month.
Let alone mid 2000’s pre financial crisis
The fact that it still even exists in this "everyone's equal" world is one of the most fckn ridiculous things in this country. That's why the equality catch phrase garbage is BS.
California
From what I remember I think Charlie slept with Alan's lawyer who then screwed him in the divorce.
@@jayare1338 its fuckin hollywood not real life on tv
Judith really showed what modern relationships are
Women have such high ground now. Not even worth it, unless she’s friend from childhood or high school.
Pfft if you choose to subject yourself to that then sure...otherwise find somebody that mesyes well with you. Otherwise youll have to look at that pile of miserable human until you seperate
Chuck Lorre, story-telling genius. The writing's superb, and the actors supported it perfectly.
One of my favorite scenes of this part of the show’s run, and that’s saying something.
Jake with the big check in particular.
*cheque
"What if they don't want to" 😂😂😂😂
The older I get the more funny this really is!! 😂

And to think he was paying that ON TOP of child support, 🙄
He's paying her $3800 in alimony??
No wonder he's living with Charlie. Damn!
But yet he still pays child support 😂😂😂😂
Fun fact, the address on the check is actually wrong. It's way out in Sycamore Cove Beach, pretty far from the Malibu Pier they always refer to as being "right down the beach" from the house. Their address would most likely be (considering the cuts during the show) right on Malibu Beach, somewhere along Malibu Rd or Malibu Colony Rd. I thought it was a fun fact.
Definitely a top comedy tv show.
13 seasons prove that!
The ABSOLUTE funniest episode ever. Judy Greer was a knockout.
"Can i wear my pretty new dress"?
This show was top tier
From the writing to the suble nuances of the acting and line delivery, facial expressions, Berta's deadpan, etc etc... it's truly a work of art.

Perfect example, that good comedy is a blend of controversy characters, subtle punch lines and ... really good timing (supported by camera work)
2:41 you just got burned Judith 🤣😂😅😆
No wonder Alan was always broke as shit. Paying Judith $3800 a month is absolutely insane.
Most people complain about paying $500-1000 a month.
Actually the check was for alimony. Child support is separate. This America marriage/ divorce laws. As Herbert would say "Welcome to Hell"
I took my 23 year-old girlfriend to my 15th high school reunion.
Everyone else was married and hanging out by the bar.
I took my gf to the secret make out place over the stage and we had sex three times on the infamous red couch.
My married friends could hardly look at me through their jealousy and shame. Still no alimony for me. I win. 😘
Big check is hilarious
Judith - i'm not yelling, THIS IS YELLING 😂
Alan had to pay alimony (almost 4k a month) than he also had to pay for her house and bills/utilities (therapy and medical included) than child support. 99% of that mans paycheck was given to her.
A glorious and not so at the same time moment
This whole clip is so funny!
Great writers for this show!
Best TV serie ever.
Ryan Stiles was great! 😂
"Sugar Coating Hell" what a Line.
3875 thousand per month? WTF??? Of course Alan is broke 😂😂
Should've still done the big check🤣💯👍
The problem I have with many sitcoms is they seem to focus more and more on the negative aspects of each character,as the show goes on, I mean in the first couple of seasons Judith was mostly harsh but as soon as she married Herb she became straight up horrible towards Alan just for simply being her ex husband
Judith started to hate Alan after he dated Kandy. Because she was younger and prettier and much better with Alan.
Ye cause thats what's funny soy boy
Modern American sitcoms are all about disfunctional relationships.
@@1drink2drink-ty4fjseems like modern American sitcoms tend to either purposely choose to have their characters shown to be unabashedly horrible people (I call it “the Seinfeld effect”, but a more recent/current example would probably be “it’s always sunny in Philadelphia” as well as arguably shows such as “married with children”, the American version of “the office”, etc) or tend to try to be “award winning” types (which I guess could be called the “modern family” effect). Long gone it seems are the type of shows that for the most part are supposed to just make you feel good while watching and at least in the time they were made, have characters that would be considered likable (like for example, “friends” or I suppose the older, if more corny by todays standards “the Brady bunch”)
The end of the episode where the vanity card was just the full-screen of Charlie's picture in this scene.
Mic drop.
Boy Alan was taken to the cleaners.
2:17 that's so the truth Charlie 🤣😅😂
The timing is absolutely spot on brilliant as usual xxxxxxxxxx🏆🏆🏆🏆
Jake was the perfect straight man. “Hey look what I found in the bushes.” Cracks me up every time.
This is most funniest scenes Alan finally getting his revenge on Judith
3000 dollars for some W to get for doing literally nothing but divorcing you, F society
Ähm, that money is actually payed so the woman can be a mom and raise the child, witch is also the man's child!!! No good for children if moms have to work fulltime and can't be there.
But the amount here might be pretty high, yes
@@baumwolke2078There's a difference between alimony and child support. There should be no such thing as alimony.
@@toddgaak422 oh really?? Okey then I agree with you. Sorry, in Switzerland both is called alemony.
@@baumwolke2078 In the US there is Child Support and Spousal Support (also known as Alimony). Child support covers living expenses for the child and the cost of medical and this typically lasts until the child turns 18. Spousal Support is payments directly to the spouse to allow them to maintain the same lifestyle they had when married. Spousal Support in many States lasts basically forever and only stops if the receiving spouse remarries (like in the show) or one of them dies. Men get taken to the cleaners in Divorce Court in the US. I saw a case where the Wife cheated, got pregnant with another mans child, filed for divorce to be with her lover, and still got the house, the car, child support, spousal support, half his retirement, half his investments, and half of his Social Security when he hit 62yo. The Ex-Wife never remarried and the Ex-Husband paid 50% of his income in Spousal Support for 51 years before he died.
@@baumwolke2078women aren't very good at raising children alone, they usually turn them into criminals or drug addicts.

3,875 a month for alimony? I'm 57 and became disabled 4 and 1/2 years ago and I only get $1,841. And I'm slowly going into credit card debt. And I'm going through a divorce. That's the difference between California and small towns in Northwest Ohio

I recognized Judy Greer even from that small view on the thumbnail
Alimony + child support = a wife that didn't have to do anything to support herself. The courts make it seem like women are incapable of learning after they marry a man, but they do learn how to take advantage of them legally.

There should be no such thing as alimony.

what funny is if you watcht he first few ep alan was a hard working man taht paid for the house, but working for year to pay almoney and child support and save for his kid college bit by bit he started to get jaded and lazy
I think the alimony included the child support, $4k 15 years ago is approximately $10k now, and nobody can survive after paying $10k/month. Child support only paid until the kids turn to 18, but alimony is for life. That's horrible. Smart men shall not get marriage, it's too much risk and little reward.
nearly $4k in alimony. Now add in the child support!!!
I'm surprised after all these years Alan never snapped and went on a killing spree Judith, Charlie, and the divorce lawyer would be at the top of Alan's revenge list.
