I went to the dealer and had them get rid of it completely. We in Canada can not survive with a small little bunk heater in -30-40 degrees. Plus it is my Truck I say when it shuts off

I have a 2021 Cascadia its set up in a winch configuration so I have a PTO button i turn it on and then press the minus/set button , on the steering wheel and the truck overrides the engine shut off. I've been dealing with it for months didn't give up and found a way good luck to you.
Hey, bro...what about hooking to a trailer, don’t put air to it and put it into N...? I had my high idle set at the dealer...so you can hit that idle adjust and it will just sit at 900...
Hand warmers and gorilla tape over the temperature sensor on the driver side mirror always works good for me
My company has it set to 96 degrees so the hand warmers only work for about a hour and then it shuts off, tried pulled the temp sensor but that didn’t work either. Idk
Doesn't work, however you have a temp sensor on the drivers mirror and in the bunk... Just a suggestion,,, take a 12 volt bulb, place it near the sensor on the mirror and insulate it, do the same with the bunk heater sensor . Note the temp gauge only reads to 174 on a Cascadia. Heat gun was the test mechanism, MacGyver it if you cant figure it out. Stay cool and drive safe.

Release your tractor brakes if you're connected to a trailer. Take a tennis shoe and wedge it in between your accelerator and brake pedal until it revs to 600 rpm and chill. Any company that let's me sweat after the kind of miles I put up I don't care about their opinion on the temperature of the cell I'm in. 550 - 600 rpm works well with vibration and noise. Hope this helps you out.
Ols swift driver told me to pull a yellow fuse and put it back in in the morning but im here searching through videos to figure out what fuse
Comfort idle guys u gotta go to the little box truck menu 3rd from left bottom bar is comfort idle u gotta set the park function button in between the thermostat knob. And boom! the truck will keep whatever temperature u want in the truck. Regardless of the outside temperature
Doesn't work on mine. It just shuts down and won't even blow. Never turns back on to maintain comfort
Optimized idle only works if the outside temperature gets above or below the set temperatures. I work for Western Express, the OPTi idle does not kick in unless the temperature drops below 35°F. This is also why I’m quitting in two weeks when my contract ends.
That’s what they tell you but it’s bulshit because at below the comfort temperature my truck was still shutting down even when I adjust the idle. I took the truck to Penske and told the company to get their truck from there since it was leased from Penske
@@Thenomadking I’m on my 3rd company 3rd truck. The opti idle has battery mode by default and comfort mode, which makes it turn on to maintain interior comfort. Even without comfort mode, if you have an inverter and you plug in something that takes like 1500 W but put it on low it’ll keep your truck running. Example, my current company has 2,000 watt inverter. When my bunker broke down I plugged in a 1500 watt space heater but put it on low setting so not only did that heat up the truck but it also kept the engine running to keep the batteries charged. That truck I had with Western Express did not have a bunk heater or a power inverter. This comment is from well over a year ago and I didn’t know shit about these trucks back then.
A lot of people will tell you to set the trailer break and release the truck break to keep it running, that doesn’t work anymore. They have these trucks programmed precisely so the only thing you can do is something valid such as a constant high power usage in battery mode.

I have optiidle but what works for me. If I set the cruise it just sets the opti idle doesn’t work. But if I hold my foot on the break and turn the cruise on then idle up. Note the cruise light will not come on but it will idle up it works here
The mechanic at my carrier said they were reprogramming the trucks to idle if its over 80f and if its cold out. I did not think much of it til my alternator on my apu died. It idles for like 30min. And if the temp drops under 80f, its not going to idle anyway.
I read thru the comments and tried the fixes except for messing with the temp sensor. Nothing worked.
I just went through it in my 2019 Cascadia. I did the one you showed to idle the engine up. You can idle it up or down using the arrows on the pad. Also my truck has a pto switch that runs absoloutley nothing and if i turn it on it will idle. I played with both of these and now for some damn reason the truck just idles all by itself without me doing anything. I have no clue wtf i did to make it do this!!!!! Freightliner said it would be a two hour charge ( $250 ) to turn the auto idle shutdown off. By the way i just did my firs night in the truck so i'm still playing with stuff.

Read the drivers manual. It tells you how!! You keep your ac on high and the truck will turn on and off on its own. It will make sure your in cab climate is good, your battery charged and your engine oil and water at a good temp. You turn the key to the left and let it do its job. Right now its 30 F outside so its been running for 3 hours straight right now. It will turn off for like 15 mins then come back on. Can you believe some states and cities have anti-idling laws?! Kids and pets cant be left in a hot or cold car but we have to is BS! Really the laws should make these companies have generators/tripak!!!

It may still shut off 2 or 3 more times after that but after 3rd time it will idle all night
I just used a seal I got of trailer door to slide in where you put key at. It's not to thick and gets it to RPM 6.5 x100 .. perfect !!! so 650 RPM !!!
Take to mechanic and have the cruise control deactivate to work/ bypass n let u idle truck its in the computer settings we have same issue with our trucks
Or you can try to get dddl software at dealer or regular shop to turn off for you the sutdown.
I talked to a Swift team driver he said they take turns one guy sleeps for 4 hrs while the other guy pushes up and down on the accelerator for 4 hrs to keep it idealing. Glad I don't work for Swift😀

It's one-degree weather in Wyoming. Truck won't idle. It shouldn't be this hard to stay warm!
The only solution I’ve found online is take it to a dealer to have the idle shutdown deactivated. I’m going to do that as soon as I BUY A TRUCK 🤦🏽♂️ The stupidest part is it shuts down if I’m at a long light, waiting for a train, or even in bad traffic. Great “feature” #sarcasm
Press both top and bottom arrow at the same time press the cruise control button press accelerate it should stay on it works on my fleet trucks a green then red display will happen on the dash then you just accelerate at that screen

I just wedged a cigarette lighter on the accelerator to get the rpm up and left tractor brake in and so far it's working hopefully I don't start rolling anywhere

There is a temp sensor switch on the frame rail hear the rear . It looks like one of those connector plugs were the two plastic pieces plugged together but this one only has one plastic connector and is capped off. That is your temperature sensor if you unplug it from the end or just unplug it from the wiring harness the truck won't recognize the outside temperature and therefore will show a warning light on your dash and run basically forever

j moore they address that fix in some models around 2016, but you can run a marker light next to the temp sensor and make it think you are in 100 degree weather constantly.
I tried that as well my truck still shutdown...I don't know what to do...these company owners don't care about us as employees...only their wallets!

Try to start the cruise control at the same time you push yellow valve couple milímeters keep pushing their cruise control, release valve then cruise control.

You have to find the weather sensor under the driver side mirror or in back off truck on left. Disconnect it. Works every time bro🙃
John Cameron yep, I had to do that with my company truck. They won’t shut off the idle shut down. We have new ‘19 cascadias here. Disconnecting the sensor in the mirror is the only way to get comfortable sleep at night. My panel flew off in the wind. I guess I didn’t put it back on quite right, but whatever.
How to disconnect it
cali-truckdriver it’s under the driver’s side mirror. It sticks out like a little nub. In order to disconnect it, you have to remove the bottom mirror panel and unplug it. I just ended up telling my company something on the road hit the panel and the wind popped it off. Ez.
It is not right that companies do this to drivers while they are sitting comfortably at home in their air conditioning and heating at home. We have to live in these tin cans throughout the week. The least they could do is allow us the same comfort while we’re driving their freight everywhere.
Hey there's an update out now that let's it run n cool the truck then it shuts off for about 15-20min then cuts back on your company mechanic should know about it (October,05,2017)
The break method works for mine
Having a trailer hooked up, you should be able to release tractor brakes with trailers brakes set. I’ve been able to idle 2 whole nights in New Mexico using that trick. I’m not sure why that works with some models but different in other models.

I figured out how to do it, it's simple just stay in areas were the temperature is always over 70° and it will not shut down. Mine has it set to the outside temperature so if it is over 70° or under 30° it will stay on.
Chris Smith mine is set the same way but in Canada when the temp is in the negatives this POS shuts off. Freezing my balls over here lol

I found out how to do it press the 2 page button it's gon say rpm then on the left steering wheel press the direction up and it idles it

Yeah, it is ridiculous. I work in Florida. There is one thing you can do. The service guys can change it if they have permission. At least that's what my Ryder techs told me.
Go to the Engine Idle Adjust mode. Rise your RPM above 600 and put it between 600 and 700. This one worked on my truck. 2018 Freightliner

I can release the truck brakes in my 587 Peterbilt while hooked to a trailer and it will stay running. Scared to do that though if you get a trailer with weak brake hold on the trailer and the thing starts rolling while sleeping

I'm about 3 years late but I just started working for this company and they have the auto shut down on this truck and I found out that the only thing that works for me is setting the trailer brakes and releasing parking brakes then put the truck to idle around 8-9 rpm. Also I have the seat belt hooked up as well I don't know if that does anything but it works for now. It kept trying to shutdown every couple minutes and it's extremely hot making me lose sleep. Btw it's a 2020 freightliner cascadia.

I have a 2018 base model with a 10 speed. I do not have that digital screen. My truck will not high idle. I watched a video on TH-cam on how to do it doesn’t work wtf. Anybody have any ideas?

The 2018s are set that only Freightliner can change the idle settings. Your mechanic has to call to get a code.
The computer has the settings, yes. But, the computer reads a temp gauge to know when to shut down the engine. Find and disconnect the temp gauge. Some models have two guages, so watch out for that!
2018 Freightliner Cascadia you pull The trailer brakes out and Push the parking brake in and then go to engine idle adjust, 3/3, press ⬆️ to 7 or 8 rpm and It will idol indefinitely

They usually put that on there because it has high miles. I do have the remedy though……. Pull out both of your knobs, push your foot on the clutch while you’re foots on the clutch hit the PTO button by the hazard lights then reach over to your right of your seat and hit the yellow PTO switch onto in position and then push in your yellow tractor brakes knob and release your foot off the clutch RPMs should go up to 900 and it will stay running

switch the key on but leave the engine off, then go to vehicle settings, then Optimize setting click ok, then go to interior comfort then click ok, your truck should start automatic by itself and go to comfort idle to run all night.. this works 100%

If you have a battery powered APU (park smart models) it works, but does not blow air conditioned air if you don’t have a APU.

Yea that button only functions when you have a red stop engine light so your truck doesn't shut down in the middle of a highway where you can safely get it atleast to the next ramp AND it only overrides in 2 minute increments.. smh
