Hey guys - thought I'd give my experience on this. So as a few people have mentioned, it appears to get to about half way (i.e the 4th bar) and not progress further. While it was doing this, I kept refilling the water tank, concerned that it would 'run dry' and damage the machine. It appears, that if you keep refilling it like this - it is an endless loop. Sooo, what you need to do, is actually let it 'run dry'. This seems to signal to the machine that it is half way done. After it has run dry, fill up the tank with regular water, this seems to be just flushing out whatever chemicals were left over from the descaling solution. The second half worked perfectly after letting it run dry, and the frustrating orange light has disappeared! Hooray!
What about rinsing it guys? It will again go down bellow and just finish? My machine also have endless loop when rinsing. Dear god, this engeneers were so lazy.
This is crazy I’ve been at this for 30 mins and the light will just not turn off!!! I let it totally run dry and make a crazy noise and still the descaling light won’t go off

Just to add you will need to fill the water tank twice otherwise the descale light will just keep flashing and the green light will just stay halfway, the green light bar needs to go all the way down the scale and turn off, the descale light should then go out.
Genio S / Genio S Plus / Genio S Touch Genio S Turn the unit off. Empty any water in the tank. Pour the solution into the machine, following the instructions on the descaler packaging. Open the locking handle. Put the rinsing tool into capsule holder. Insert the capsule holder into the machine. Close the locking handle. Place an empty large container under the coffee outlet. To enter descaling mode, select XL and turn the control ring 4 times clockwise until the LED starts blinking. Press the start/stop button. The machine will start descaling and will continue in a start-stop process until the tank is empty. When it is done, you need to wait 2 minutes before taking the next step. The volume display bar will move down during this time and then disappear. The 4th level of the volume bar will start to flash. Empty the container and place it under the outlet again. Empty and rinse the water tank. Refill the tank with fresh water only and place back on the machine. Press the start/stop button to begin the rinse cycle. The rinse cycle will end when the tank is empty. The descaling orange light will turn off. The selection button will blink red, but steady when the machine is ready. Empty and rinse the water tank. Refill the tank with fresh water only and place back on the unit. Rinse both side of the capsule holder. When the tank runs out of water/runs dry it makes a horrid noise. Is that normal? I don’t want to damage the machine! I panicked and switched it off at the point and consequently the orange light is still there when I turn it back on even after flushing more water through! Thanks for your help!
Hi there,we tried as you mentioned, but it stopped on the 4th bar! Kept repeating, but again stopped on 4th bar! I am doing something wrong!? It is a new machine

Yes! I was surprised that I had to keep re-filling it.
How Many times? I had refilled it like.. 5 times and it just stops halfway slways
