Dr Vandana Saxena: Diversity and Inclusion - Part 3 | Evolving Education Series

Dr. Vandana Saxena is an evolving academician working in the field of Diversity and Inclusion for the last three decades. She is a Professor of Education at CIE, University of Delhi, her alma mater, where she studied for bachelor, master & doctoral programmes in Education after completing her Master in Physics. She taught for four years in a school as a science teacher before joining CIE in November 1997. She was nominated, selected and served as a Fulbright Scholar in Residence for the academic year 2022-23. Placed at the centre of the civil rights movement during the Fulbright fellowship, she is working towards developing deeper theoretical insights to evolve generic conjectures on diversity and inclusion.
In her academic persuasion to cultivate a democratic educational environment, she is engaged with teaching, training, research & consultations focusing upon developing research-based thought-provoking pedagogical designs addressing issues of Diversity and Inclusion across all contexts.
Together with her research scholars, she has explored numerous layers of multidimensional lived realities in diverse contexts located in disability, giftedness, gender, and science education with intersectionality across different school subjects, tribal, urban, rural, hilly as also religious contexts. Most recently, she has been promoting the significance of pedagogical imperatives for teachers in higher education and the idea of the teacher as a researcher. Her professional acumen is enriched during her work on multiple projects & assignments with MHRD (India), World Bank, UGC, NCERT, NCTE, NIOS, RCI, and several civil society initiatives.
She has been diligently promoting the case of equal opportunities for all, symbolised by the conscious use of lowercasing for the writing of her name.
