That's exactly why you don't do frontals over 15 yds. Even if it had been only 20 yds his shoulder would have been in the way.

Frontal shots with a bow are kind of a gamble, should've backed out and came back in the morning. May have been laying dead where you saw that he bedded down.🤷‍♂️
