No. Your proposal is a non-starter. Mass Effect doesn't have the kind of immediate recognition Star Wars has to stand ANY chance of doing some kind of original story "set within the Universe." Mass Effect isn't Fallout, which was able to have a show like that BECAUSE every Fallout game features a different region and protagonist. The Halo show was based on a script that had nothing to do with Halo, and focused unfortunately on 117's backstory and took him out of the suit all the time. Yes, it would be a bad idea to focus on Shepard's childhood or something in the same way, since the Universe and ensemble cast are the real stars of the series. But Mass Effect is also chiefly Shepard's story. The Reaper war is Shepard's story. Shepard is the defining catalyst to all the major events of the games. Adapting the story is the only thing worth doing as things stand. The kind of series you're proposing would be entirely overlooked and flop. Also, a space series like this wouldn't be that hard to pull off with modern TV budgets. Static sets with green screen windows, cgi ships. Space rendering has always been notoriously easy given the lack of light bounces needed. The hard thing would be the aliens. Costumes, cg, puppets... Regardless of the route taken, those would be the expensive parts. Everything else could be relatively straightforward. You wouldn't really need to worry about the scale of production until the events of ME3 just because of the emphasis on war.
@@JJMDude I disagree make the show about Shepherd and it won’t live up to expectations, make the show about something in the universe (like the first contact war) and now you have an interesting angle that hasn’t been explored before that also builds upon the lore. Also, Mass Effect has enough core fans for this show to be a hit doesn’t have to be as big as Star Wars

I'm a huge fan, and I'd be twice as disappointed in an "okay" irrelevant Disney-plus spinoff than an outright bad or middling attempt of the core story like the Netflix Witcher series. Again, Fallout worked because non-fans could hop on with no prior knowledge and missed nothing. Mass Effect doesn't work that way. If it was "Mass Effect: Subtitles of Omega" or some shit, it would be ignored mainstream as clearly a smaller part of something they already don't know.
