Oh sweet! A nice early one, getting to be a very rare variant nowadays! Did yours have the US style headlights? We own 3 of them, all saved from being scrapped and you're right, they're so lovely; at one point this old girl and my (also alpine white) Scirocco GT2 were the only cars my wife and I had, they make for a surprisingly versatile daily driver too! (They're also one of the few classic VWs that aren't commanding stupid money so hopefully a few more will be out on the road when people cotton on!) Thank you very much for watching :)
@@skyrocketautomotive I had to scrap mine back in the late 90s as it failed its mot on the whòe rear end wish I still had it today they are worth some money now mine only had 1 wiper on it from factory
@@allancatterall4746 Ah, that's a shame! Not an uncommon story though, a major weakness of the A1 platform is rotting to a fine powder around where the rear axle mounts, particularly on earlier cars! Hopefully you'll get a chance to take one for a rip again some time!
Good to see my dad back on TH-cam ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Keeping my fingers crossed for the MOT
I had a "F" plate 1800 gti in white lowered springs uprated wheels and tyres strut brace lovely and 40 mpg
That's something people don't give these cars enough credit for: they're REALLY good on fuel for what they are! Especially with the 4+E gearbox
Lovely cars they are I had one back in the early 90s 1.8GTI mine was a y reg

I would love to know what happened to my GTX (B64CHJ). All I know is it hasn't been MOT'd for a number of years.
Fingers crossed it's still out there somewhere! Thank you for watching :)
BLACK ICE!!!
The only logical choice
@@skyrocketautomotive not just logically. It’s the ONLY choice.
Its from a time when you could really rely on a VW
Couldn't agree more, truly dependable old things!
