►This is the second, improved version of my first katana build ever. This version is way more sturdier and is capable of beeing used in an training ( or pre-arranged ) battle.

Tip: use silver and grey paint on the blade with some black shadows to make it look real and The tsabu red if you gonna use black color for the tsaku maki.. Because red and black is a perfect match... So you will make it 100 times more realistic.

2. using black and red doesnt make it more realistic. most katanas are made with a non dyed samegawa
even if you wanted to make it look realistic, this is as realistic as a bokken can get

I wanted to learn how to make katana and this guy made the katana so easily
We made a katana out of a thich branch few years ago and it turned out wonderful! The hilt is a ring of bark that we didnt strip off and the katana has an arc to it cus of the natural bend of the original branch
Same. I painted it so you could hardly tell it was ever a branch

This is amazing. I think you can make a katana as how real katanas are made. Because you made it as a whole and divided the guards into 2, thats my only concern.

I'm doing a custom template, I don't want that tsuba design.
Also, I want the "blade" a little longer (that meaning i'm going to measure one of my katanas which one is made out of foam).
Wish me luck, my dad says it's impossible... A slight chance of probably turning out right.

The more straightblade is a Ninja sword feature. Katanas are more curved😁. But its beautiful. Normally blade and handle are connected by a peg(bamboo pin).

Wow- that really looks AWESOME! How many hours did you put into it? I wish i had those kinds of tools also, then I'd probably be making all kinds of stuff. A while ago- I was making all sorts of things, including brass knuckles (made from wood, so i guess they were just knuckles- but MAN those things were SO COOL!) and that was when all i had was just a jigsaw, a drill, and a dremel (with a very small assortment of bits that came along with it).
I made some pretty sick inosuke blades and all I have is just a jigsaw and drill

just a suggestion you coukd get a soldering iron and maybe right your name in japanese writing on the blade and tge soldering sort of burns the wood but disent set it on fire then polish it the make it look really nice

The disadvantage to using ply wood is that it could fray at any time causing it to fall apart.

First attempt, I messed up. I took way too much off the blade to where it wobbled when I held it. I'm not giving up though, I really want to make Ichigo's Tensa Zangetsu.

If you have no wood to make the Katana's handle, you can use 3 JENGA BLOCKS and super glue them top of each other. You can buy them in like Pound Land or like a normal shop!
