While I love Sagamore, not sure I am that excited about Pursuit's results. Too many on the MGP list - not at all excited by Nulu even if one or two turn out. And Fourgate no matter how tasty don't excite at $200 and now $300-$400 a bottle compared to a good Doc Swinsons or even Penelope. Starlight I have mixed feelings which means it doesn't belong on the Exciting list to me. Still Austin excites me more than that.

R.e. Four Roses - they have four expressions available almost all the time. I like two of the four. Otherwise, anything outside of their core goes from very hard to get due to their random appearances, to impossibly overpriced at retail. As time goes on, Four Roses gets further into the back of my mind where I feel less of an urge to get their core bourbons because the stuff I really want is practically unobtainable.
Yep absolutely agree. I am hanging on to 2 bottles of the Single Barrel, Barrel Proof of 2 different recipes of the 10. Some of the most complex bourbon I have ever had. Unfortunately I am in NYS so I know I will never get another bottle unless I go to Kentucky. So those beautiful 2 bottles are just sitting and waiting for a special day
Solid list imo. Barrel King is absolutely crushing it and is the most exciting brand In liquor let alone whiskey. Jarrod just doesn’t miss with what he does. Super excited to see what Jarrod and Matt can do together.

New Riff got snubbed!! They’re doing all kinds of cool shit, namely experimenting with distilling and aging all kinds of heirloom grains, to making a delicious 100% malted rye, and their barrel pick program just expanded to rye barrels alongside their bourbon barrels. They make some of the best 4-5 year old whiskey out there in my opinion
Seems like one obvious choice was missing from the exciting category. Barrell! Lovin' my bottle of 'Blue Run emerald rye and what Jack is doing to shake the old #7 image. Love SBBP, and hoping to get my hands on the 12 year and SBBP Rye.
Hi Matt. You know, I just watched a recent video from SLB Drinks, that did a comparison of Rare Breed US version, vs. an exported (SUPERIOR) version (AND in a liter bottle, for several dollars less too!) The version that Turkey is exporting is a NON chill filtered bourbon that we all know is always better than filtered, and it is a superior flavor profile, mouthfeel and nose (overall experience) and apparently for a much lower cost. So, it looks like Wild Turkey IS doing some exciting things (behind our backs) and just not in the USA, where they are from. What BS. A slap in the face to their main base and fellow Americans. Upsetting. Especially in these times of traitors around every corner. I know it's whiskey, but it's a shame and it makes me tired of giving a sh!t. Just thought I'd say it. Love watching this year's Matt Madness. Have been watching your channel since the beginning. Lookin' gr8 btw. Take care and God bless.

I'm in Ohio and Buffalo Trace is one of the brands that randomly come in and sell out right away! One store by the State Liquer Control warehouse has it all the time but it is an hour and a half drive oneway!
Agree with the Bardstown, Sagamore and now looking to try a Pursuit United, but I think you missed Huling Station aka Dominic Distillery. Alex Castle is doing some interesting stuff. Have you tried their Blue Label?
A distillery that does a few exciting things but always does them in a way that most of their fans either can't find or can't afford -or both (I'm looking at you Buffalo Trace) does nothing of note for most customers. For that reason alone, Maker's Mark and its widely available license plate bottles deserve more respect.
I like Makers and I agree, they need age statements and higher proof! Most people are excited to get anything from Buffalo Trace, the scarcity is ridiculous! I want more EH Taylor!
Message to the big knobs at knob Creek. How’s about releasing that 12 year cask strength with a little more regularity and availability? I mean, the 15 was nice. But the lineup is frankly a little boring. Shine that knob up.

Barrel King...worth the price for that MGP. Nulu..always felt overpriced for their MGP for me. I like starlight as long as they don't go NULU with their prices.
Your first four bourbons are my daily drinkers. But I'm retired now days and can't afford to spend three or four hundred dollars at the liquor store any more. My splurge bottle is Rare Breed. Better than most of the exciting brands I've tried.
Completely agree about Woodford. They do all those special bottle releases (i.e., KY Derby). Would be cool if they turned those into different proofs or finishes to match the bottle theme. Big missed opportunity and seems just like a marketing money grab. On the positive side, 1000% agree about Starlight.
funny. all the avg and boring stuff are the whiskey's Matt and other tubers got me started on my journey with years ago and occupy my bar regularly. now, its craft this and craft that. stuff i've rarely seen if ever in my stores. its obvious they are farther down the road on their journey than me so enjoy! i'll get there someday, maybe. i'm good with what i have.

Rare Breed is awesome! As a mixer. Seriously, it’s the most exciting mixer for Manhattans, Old Fashioneds, or similar, but not so much for sipping. However, RR SB is great stuff. Eagle Rare = sweet and boring. Kentucky Owl, despite the price, is exciting. JD SB Barrel Strength Rye = very exciting! Top tier! Driftless Glen out of Baraboo WI is exciting. Ben Holladay Missouri Straight Bourbon is exciting, especially the Rickhouse Proof. But the most boring of all is Basil Hayden.
