This is a great time of year to get outside and spot insects enjoying the flowers! If you're inspired to start painting, get all you need in my art supplies store on my website dewintonpaperco.com/shop/
I learned so much more, today, about detail and how important it is to get them accurate. And I loved the subject- the Monarch! They are becoming endangered and I have had the privilege of getting ahold of a few eggs and watching every step of their growth and development. I learned that a black spot in the centers of the lower winds indicates a male. So as you were painting I thought to myself 'she's painting a girl's! Thanks for your teaching!
Being a beginner beginner, and doing it slightly smaller than your beautiful example, I did find it a little more difficult than I expected. But I’m happy with my results. 😁I painted two for birthday cards. I enjoy your videos very much. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Harriet, this painting is so delicate and sweet. There are also many lessons and tips within this tutorial (at least for a "forever" beginner like me! Thank you for the beauty, the teaching, and the subject of this tutorial. I think I'm a bit on Ant's side as far as difficulty goes.🙃 Guess that means I need to give it a try. Then, we'll see if I have the courage to share it🤣
Well, watching you paint it makes me want to do it even more than before. I must remember all the prep and planning and experience that you bring to the tutorial as my result aren’t quite as perfectly executed and yet ii always end up with a good outcome in spite of my non-preparedness, planning or experience. Your way teaching is very effective!! Thank you again!!! 🥰🥰
I’m so excited to paint the butterfly! It reminds me of a bee tutorial by you I painted last year. The delicate and stained-glass look of the wings is so beautiful!
Finally finished. Also Ant is not wrong, or right, haha. I'd call it Intermediate at the very least. It's not *hard* but time consuming I suppose, and a test of the agility of ones hand muscles with those butterfly lines. Great tutorial though, Harriet, once again.

Thank you so much! Yes Ant is rather pleased with himself but it's all about trying new things so good for you!

Ah yes that's true! Loved painting those bees and this butterfly is surprisingly simple!
Lovely as always, Harriet. I've just got my first layers down now!

Ha, Ant is feeling smug! The rigger brush is definitely a help to keep a steady line/
Amazing!
Thanks so much!
Who was that friendly hand? Lol. Just lovely work as usual!
That's my husband and cameraman Ant!
And Ant might just be right ☺️
Haha! Don’t tell him that!
Love this Harriet! Would it work if I put a pale blue loose wash in behind first?
If it was very pale that should be fine
🦋🌺💖
Thanks Oksana!
Beautiful!
Thanks for watching!
So beautiful! And you make it look do-able for beginners. Excited to try it! 😊
