When I was young I struggled as a working player with only a Rhodes and Minimoog, when the DX1 came out it was unobtainium, now it’s so cool I can get the same sounds on my phone with apps like Dexed and KQ Dixie, times are good for modern players.
It's a shame poly aftertouch keybeds were abandoned, it would have been a nice opportunity to put one on the white Montage.. (Yamaha already have one on the top of the range Electone?)
It should be a standard in all professional keyboards. But is because they know there are many not very expressive keyboardists, but there are many technically limited keyboardists who are consumers of products. So they cut costs and corners for manufacturing because they know that the true players are a much more limited audience than the masses, which even includes people who cannot actually play the instruments.

In this comment I was talking about Yamaha putting poly-at keybeds in modern synths mostly (as we're in their house) - but the CS-80 and CS-60 and possibly DX1 each used different methods of polyphonic aftertouch anyway..and it's not like it disappeared with Yamaha synths.. Ensoniq.. Gem S2.. Kurzweil MIDIboard.. Sequential Circuits T8.. etc.. all had polyphonic aftertouch keybeds afterwards The ironic thing is since my comment ASM have come out with the Hydrasynth sporting poly-at keybeds.. Fatar have (finally!!!!) started making a 49 key poly-at keybed.. used in Waldorf Iridium Keys and forthcoming Aodyo Anyme Omega.. It's time for Yamaha to wake up and deliver the synths they used to do :) It's been 5 years since they opened the IdeaScale site.. we need fruit

Aye, it's a crying shame. They should release a reface version at least so the tech doesn't disappear. Might be tricky without the old DSPs though, maybe we'll get old DSPs rebuilt as FPGA cores at some point so old code can be ported easily. Same dead end the Virus is stuck in

当時DX1に憧れて妥協してDX5を買ったけど音はそこまで違わないんだね。回路が違うからもっと違うと思ってたけどこの程度だったんだと分かって納得。タッチがいいのはすごく有名だったな。値段は確か195万円のはず。
