- June 24th would have been Jeff Beck’s 80th birthday. To honour and celebrate the world’s greatest guitarist, myself and some amazing musicians have put together our own version of ‘Cause We’ve Ended as Lovers’. This was a very special project to put together and wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the many involved, so thank you to Jennifer Batten, Dudley Ross and Greg Koch for recording guitars, Alex Bennett for recording keys, and Grace Lamb for recording bass, as well as Charlotte Noakes for editing the video. When I was a boy in rural upstate NY, I had cassettes of Blow by Blow and Wired, my first guitar, and the biggest admiration for Jeff...
20 years later I'm no longer a boy, no longer live in New York, no longer have a cassette player, or that original red squire strat. But the admiration for that man's talent has never left. The word "great" is tossed around daily but that guy was a "great" that exists only a handful of times in the history of music.
Happy birthday, Jeff. My finger calluses would not be the same without you.

All those times through the years i was always blown away that Jeff would play this song better than the time before, and he kept doing it! How!?!
Beck was the only one ftom his era to keep getting better and better.
He never stopped advancing his technique, one of a kind genius wizard of the six string.
Jeff wasn’t flash, he was soul. Doing shit at slow speed that other guitarists couldn’t quite replicate is what made him so special in my opinion. Beautiful tribute and RIP Jeff.

Jennifer, I was at one of your clinics in Atlanta around 90 or 91. I didn't know that much about Jeff but you talked about how awesome he was and how big an influence he was on you so I went out and bought 'Blow by Blow' and was instantly hooked. You also showed us the EVH legato harmonic thing, which blew my mind! Thank you, I'll be forever grateful for those things.

Strolling about TH-cam this night, I crossed all kinds of delightful guitar hero alleys and got stuck here with this wonderful hommage to Jeff Beck. It brings me back to the first time I got to experience his music. Still to this day I remember I was blasted away listening to Wired. What was this? Where did this come from? What had just happened? Sheer genius, musicality & joy. Thank you for your hommage to JB and for bringing me back.

Beck was the too level guitarist. For years and most of the other top 20 guitarist leveled out. But then beck comes out with” where were you “ and that s another 3 levels above last spot.

Beautiful version , thank you to all involved… Jeff is my all time favorite and I was fortunate to see him perform 3 times and met him with a photo one of those times,once with Jennifer Batten and it was easy to see why he would choose for the tour, she was a show by herself and a huge inspiration for female players.. Sultry… Bohemian… Echoing… what was once lived. Honest. Superbly done… Jeff Beck was and is “The” guitar player of the ages… his music and sound says so…a very fine and due Tribute. Jeff Beck is not easy to play… never was. Great … great effort and very well defined with elegance. Wow!
Excellent tribute. I'm sure you perhaps know JB's version of this song originally was itself a tribute to Roy Buchanan's melodic efforts on his telecaster. The volume swells and melodic touch are quite similar to what Buchanan could do (when he wasn't shredding).
