Nzioka Waita shares his fascinating transition journey from private sector to public sector to politics. its a story about giving it all you've got against all odds.
I worked with you at Safaricom from whence you joined Safaricom Waita and can attest here and now that you were the best of the best. I haven't worked with anyone so diligent and straight forward individual fellow like you. You are cool, composed, understanding and none-grudging. I salute you my man. I vividly remember as if it's yesterday when I was car jacked and the colleague that called me on his own volition was you, enquired if I was hurt, comforted me and told me if I need any assistance I call you back. You are a rare gem. Be blessed abundantly in your life a head my brother 🙏 Peter
My takeaway is that we cannot continue sitting in the 'back office' of our lives and expect that things will miraculously change in the direction we desire. At some point, like Nzioka did, we must purpose, against all odds, to drive change from the front . We must try
One day i sat beside this Great Gentleman at PCEA Langata and he humbly shared a hymn book with me. Humility, accommodative, passionate for others are just but few words which can expound Sir Waita.
Goodness me! What a personality. Truly, we are our own worst enemies. These are the people who would transform Kenya given the chance. His story is replicated across Kenya, more so in Mt Kenya where I come from. A pity that we deny such brilliant minds the opportunities to steer this nation. One day, many moons ago, way back in the eighties, I came across an old international magazine that my dad had; an old edition of the late sixties. It could have been ''Newsweek''. It predicted that one day Tom Mboya or Mwai Kibaki would rise to the top. Politics aside, this is an exceptional individual. We are staring at the Tom Mboya or Mwai Kibaki of the sixties. Kenya needs him like yesterday.
I have never waited for an Engage like this. Waita, you were worth the wait... And in due time, Machakos people will give you an opportunity to count their vote. It will be worth the wait. Great story! Thank you for trying so that some of us can be inspired
Nzioka Waita, exudes confidence, the right temperament, charisma, self-assurance and leadership qualities unparalleled. Kenyans should elect such leaders as their Governors, custodians of devolution. Not your everday politicain but managers who are tried and tested. Leaders who are empathetic of the Mwananchi's plight and have integrity to safeguard the people's interest and wealth. Nzioka's networks, connections, exposure, and experience at Statehouse would have brought a lot of value and development to Machakos County. Aluta Continua.
The fact that you admitted defeat to your competitor in such an honorable and respectable way speaks volume about your character. Your conscience will be at peace because you tried, and gave it your all. Hats off Sir.
What a storyteller. ''The inequities that come with a community being away from the center of power may sometimes last for generations''. What a powerful testimony from one of Kenya's greatest brains
I supported Mr. Waita and cast my vote in his favor due to my alignment with his visionary outlook. His unwavering commitment to elevate the landscape of Kamba politics was palpable, reflected in his earnest desire to serve the community. Looking ahead to the year 2027, I hope he tries again. There is nothing so potent like the power of good influence.
Nzioka is a leader, not a politician, now in Kenya nobody votes for leaders... though You all deserve the leadership of the day...now please upload the whole version.
I personally campaigned and for the first time in my life at 35years voted just because of you, my best friend Kyalo Ndambuki didn't talk for a week after we lost, but in my heart of hearts you are my Governor, please just try again mweshimiwa.Godspeed
The beauty of this beautiful part of the Globe known as Kenya, is that it keeps reinventing itself by producing capable and authentic leaders and Waita is one of them. I see a possible president
His sense of humour waa put I love that part he said his path to self actualisation wouldn't be fulfilled without standing. He has spoken and showed Kenya bado hatuna heshima how do you call someone shoga in public meeting waaa he is made of strong stuff. I don't know much but I see a future leader huyu he won't be out of long. He is what Kenya needs
Mr Waita, Ahsante for telling this story. By most accounts, and by your own telling, you're a honorable man, and you have your heart in the right place. We have been with Hon. Wavinya in the community for a long time. She has been to our functions, speaks broken English like us - we identify with her. It's your task to familiarize yourself with the community more. To take advantage of Gov. Wavinya's failings as an incumbent. Be visible Sir! Don't give up yet. We need to see more of you, even in these early days. You stand out by your 'differentness', and likely will win the next round.
Spoken like a father with a vision for a dignified and equitable society and future for Kenya. You are truly a blessing and an inspiration, the best is yet to come. Thank you Kiongozi! 🇰🇪🦅🙏
The day that the people of machakos, elect this guy they'll acquire one of the sharpest brains and we'll mannered gentlemen... Government funds Looting will stop
Really inspiring stuff from Nzioka Waita. Real courage in the face of intimidating opposition. I pray that the electorate of this country will one day vote for this breed of leaders.
I am impressed. Although I supported the opposing coalition, KK, the hustlers, I like this fellow. He has it, no doubt at all. I am glad that he garnered 130K votes in Ukambani, Machakos against all odds. I am still a KK diehard, I support my guy President WSR 100%. I does not in any way delete or negate my appreciation and respect for this good guy, he has the brains, he has the charisma, he has the humility, he has the discipline....Machakos county could have benefited more without doubt. Overall, it means that this country Kenya still has a deep well of human capital. We should not entertain the thought of giving up, not yet. Kudos, Waita Nzioka, keep that spirit burning. Incidentally, or ironically, I liked Afred Mutua, a very different personality from Waita, a chance acquaintance but a good person regardless.
Nzioka Waita, you would have made a great Governor for Machakos County, you would have set a good example of what being a Governor means, usikufe moyo simama tena with the lessons learnt, we will vote again, however, remember, the masses don't vote for you as a person, they vote for the loudest mouth, the one who doesn't know how to measure the lies, you will have to set the conscious mind aside on this one
I followed Machakos politics very closely in the last elections and I couldn't help but shed a tear watching and reflecting through this recollection by Waita. From those insults in social media and campaign rallies. But as he said, Just Try. That was a good trial despite the challenges. I've learnt a lot from this journey
I totally defer to this great man, who in the set up we have may never get to a position to transform our society along his principles. Blessings man, you are a great!!!
Thank you for providing a behind-the-scenes look at the intricacies of competitive politics in your personal life. Your genuine dedication to making your community and our nation a better place in public office is admirable. May your earnest desire translate into a tangible reality in the near future. Maximum respect, Mr. Waita.
I am among those who gave you a chance. I was not disappointed when you didn't get the seat in the first time of asking. But I'll be disappointed if you give up and never ask again. Coz in the trying lies results
This is great! The kind of leaders we need in this country. Those driven by a strong desire to serve their communities and Kenya as a whole and not to enrich themselves. You will get there someday soon Waita. Don't give up. Keep trying..at the right time..
Wow excellent! Deep rooted truths delivered with a rich sprinkle of humour. Enjoyable! Just try! We live to fight another day. I relate with the desire to get more out of life than just hitting targets. We must give back to the community we live in.
You let no one down. You did great! It is encouraging to know there are such kind and humane leaders. God bless and increases you more and more, you and your children.
You might have missed the big seat but I surely miss a heart so good, warm and holds no grudge like yours. I wish you well and hope a day will come when we can give our positions to leaders of your calibre!
I admire the character and precision of Nzioka. It's a missed opportunity! It's a missed opportunity for Machakos people! The sun will still shine. Hopefully some day.
Phenomenal. Been waiting for this for a looong time. Hii Kenya, ina wenyewe but hopefully, one day, we will turn things around and vote integrity in leadership. Like Moses, I pray that you will lead your people to the promised land one day💪
I can only continue praying to the God I believe in who I trust listens and has the power to change everything even storms, winds,to river courses that very soon our constitution as our vision, mission & core values as a people shall eventually form the conversation of all our endeavours to His Glory in Jesus name I pray.

I wish machakos voted for this guy. This right here is a leader.
My Governor!!! I voted for him and will do it again and again. Whenever he speaks, I'm gutted because this is what we're missing out on.
#mygovernormks
I voted for you Waita simply on the basis of your track record at Safaricom and at the PDU.. Don't dare give up on that dream coz I'm waiting in 2027
One day i sat beside this Great Gentleman at PCEA Langata and he humbly shared a hymn book with me. Humility, accommodative, passionate for others are just but few words which can expound Sir Waita.
Very smart guy, i wish the people of Machakos can understand
Waita you are not Moses but Joshua….when the time is right you will lead. Guard your heart and stay Humble. Much love and respect🙏🏾

You are really an inspiration Waita .May God use you according to His will🙏🏻
Your hunger to bring down the poverty at the ground is such an inspiration. Ipo siku.

I hope you’ll be back in 2027, we need pure-hearted leaders like yourself.
Politics will humble you! We are such short sighted people and nowander we get the leaders we have 😢😢😢
