These were HUGE at my school when I was in elementary in the early 90s. I wasn't into pogs back in the day, but I did like some of the graphics on them. I would collect them if there was something I liked. The only pog collecting I came close to was when they had the little caps that came from the fast food restaurants for The Phantom Menace. Thanks for the video
It's unusual, these are some of those rare things I have no memory of, like I was in a coma through the fad. I seem to remember having "little art circles" maybe of Star Wars. My coworker had a sticker machine business and would be passing out the goods.
@@shanester1832 I didn't dabble in any fads but one, I was a really into the little Tech Deck finger boards in the late 90s. I was pretty good with it, actually. :) [skateboard emoji]
In my late teens, I had a few that I bought from a comic store individually, including a few O.J. Simpson POGs with a cheap jail cell image. I never played with them, though. Now I want to find them to reminisce.
@@tperson8347, they're pretty good, but I haven't seen them in years. My parents' house was inundated by 15 inches of water thanks to Hurricane Helene north of Tampa (I'm in Miami), Florida. I hope they have my POGs and they didn't get water-logged, but it isn't that important in context.
It was cheap with just cardboard, so highly profitable. Judging by the looks of things, it'll take a while for them to secure licensed properties to make into pogs.
Seems like it was kinda like flipping quarters or shooting marbles, I remember when that was cool back in 1879. But I remember when they tried to force these on us as the next hot collectible, nobody cared unless you lived in Hawaii or something.
I didn't collect pogs. I had some with my star trek figures and a few here or there that came with something as a promotion, like wizzard magazine. I was never a fan of these. I wasn't aware it was supposed to be a game. My friends who collected them didn't seem to know either. I actually disliked these because I was very into collecting Marvel cards and some others. Once pogs came out, it seemed like all the card companies quit making cards. But for better or worse, I guess pogs are back in pog form 😂😂😂
Pogs were cool for about 5 minutes in my corner of the 90's. Their popularity ended when the mall kiosk packed up and left. I like to think the reason that kiosk closed up was because someone was secretly selling weed out of it.
Pogs are back!....in Pog form!
😁😂😂😂
I had thousands of them. My favorite was my a bomb slammer
That gold slammer looks to be strictly limited edition. I think you got very lucky there JM.
remember ALF? he's back! in pog form!

@@Sci-Fi-Mike
Haha :) Yes!
I would definitely go for an OJ pog, that would be worth collecting.
That's childhood memories right there. :)

I'm picturing Eric Stoltz in his Pulp Fiction bathrobe, "Pogs are back in a big f'n way!"
Haha :) Yes :)
I use to have those, they were fun.

I would've bought an ALF POG!
😂😂😂
He actually is back today.... They're writing a reboot
@@Sammy_Boy_Smith ooooh i hope it's one of those gritty reboots like "Bel Air" or "Wednesday"
I was too young to get into Pogs when they first came out, might try and get into it once I learn how to play.
That Wicket Ewoks one looks good 😊
I collected the Spogs. Spawn Pogs! Only because they were Spawn...
I had a few too I seen around yard sales
The only Pogs I had were the ones that came with the Star Trek TNG figures.
I'm jealous that you got the gold slammer Junkman but dang now i want to play with pogs bad

You could say the same with trading cards, I think, right?
“Remember the new non-legacy licensed generic Whammy from Press Your Luck looking caveman Pog mascot Bart? He’s back….in Pog form!”
Nice!
😂😂😂
No whamnies no whamnies no ..... DAMN!
I have some star wars Spogs.
I am truly surprised that I never bought any Star Wars pogs.
I used to love the ones that came with Doritoz.

Where I live some stores still sold bags of marbles up until the 90s.
I was a bit obsessed with these for a little while, back in the day...🤘🏼💯✔️
I collected those then I realized how stupid it was. 😂

Poggers.. Sorry I had to lol

That was some good wampa weed 😋
I was an adult before those came out. Thanks for explaining them to me!
I remember fights breaking out on the playground over these damn things
then pokemon came around and again, fights.
Poggers for pog.
I think the only ones I had were ones that came with stuff, like those ones from the Star Trek figures that you showed.
I think the real reason for this video was to see how many times you could say POG and see if we noticed. I counted 145 POGS 😂😂
Good counting :)
You're starting to phone it in.
Starting??
I think they were cool but I never collected them . Never knew how to play either.
Pogs are gay ya pogo
