I grew Marketmore cucumbers last year and sowed WAY too early for our Scottish climate. As a result I ended up growing them in my full length, south facing living room window with them strung up to my curtain pole 🤣. 18lbs of cucumbers from a couple of plants. My husband thought I was crazy, and we couldn’t shut the curtains for about 5 months 😂🌱

Eyes wide when I saw Astronomy Domine! I know this video is two and a half years old but I'll be checking out other videos and hoping to see how it went. Sadly I cannot get seeds for that in the UK, a shame as I would have *loved* to try and grow some not-yellow sweetcorn (and with all the colour options, you can select for specific variations you want). I also love how you have some straightforward varieties among some other more unusual options - always makes sense to have your standard options and then branch out

TatSoi is my new favorite vegetable. Tastes delicious, and I can use it in any of my recipes that call for spinach, cabbage, or kale. It provides my daily vitamins, more calcium than milk, more vitamin C than orange juice. It grew all winter through the snow and gave me fresh greens every day. It even survived our worst ice storm in 11 years. In the spring, it surprised me with bright yellow flowers even before the daffodils bloomed.

I also ordered the Mexican Sour Gherkins and Mountain Mint from Bakers Creek this year. My gherkins had a 100 percent germination rate (started indoors) and now I have too many plants. I’m going to have to give some away. Looking forward to harvesting the Mountain Mint for iced tea. It’s similar to the wild mint tea my Nan would make growing up. Looking forward to seeing the product of the remainder of your seeds.

MelanieLauree mint is great ants 🐜 repellent
They grow very fast and well in good condition however in windy 🌬 and freezing 🥶 Long Island 🌴 area of north even mint can’t grow well
Sometimes in the winter ❄️ when everything is dead 💀 and nothing grows, saw a tiny bush of mint still green and growing it warms my heart ❤️
I put my mint in pot in the backyard so does oregano 🌿 because I don’t have much spaces and I want to give different variety of plants equal chance to grow
I put mint pot next to entrance so ants 🐜 don’t come in the house 🏡 :)
Lavender is great masquito repellent, it’s not summer time yet but lavender works amazing on the masquito repel than any other plants 🌱

Seeds!!! From Baker Creek I would add purple lady baby bok choi. Gorgeous color and grew well in my zone 10a of Bonsall (north county San Diego) area. Also mizuna. Those were probably my favorite cool season this year as they were beautiful and easy to grow. Also add tatsoi to that list. And parris island romaine from San Diego Seed Company. For warm season I am going to grow a ton of summer and winter squash as well as a huge variety of tomatoes. I discovered Johnnys Seeds and they have been germinating beautifully and better than Baker Creek in the same seed trays (same conditions). Johnny’s dunja zucchini are also growing like mad already even though it’s early March. If you care about aesthetics in the garden, which I do, I’d suggest staying away from Brad’s atomic grape tomato (Baker Creek). Vines are scraggly and sad even when producing. Have fun with your seeds! I’m going to go online and buy even more seeds now!

I love bakercreekseeds! I've also got the dazzling blue kale, candy cane zinnias, & cucuamelons. Plus, I'm going to try luffa this year since I didn't try last year! And you know... a million other seeds that won't all fit in the garden. I'm also excited to test out some stuff from Sundial seeds. They're dry-farmed and so better able to tolerate drought. Baker Creek is my absolute fav. I love reading about plants' history and origins. Its my first year trying to garden again (helllo CVD) after taking a few years off because Im fairly lazy. I already have some adorable squash seedlings, some tomato seedlings and an established grow box of strawberries. I could have saved myself time and trouble by buying seedlings instead of seeds....but I went to the BC website and could not resist.

Those little cuke melons have a very fine vine and leaf. Somewhat like a bind weed or morning glory. It wont shade out anything. We are growing some of the same varieties this year... I am also doing the Black Corn, and Desiree Peas...I will have a challenge ahead of me as I live in Scottsdale. However, I am trying to create a microclimate in my side yard right now with shade cloth (40%), Misters, and Irrigation. I'm also planting some citrus trees as shade trees for future years. I don't expect the peas to do well at all... I'm going to try one this summer which is almost guaranteed to fail (but I had some extra space), but I will try a serious run in winter. The Corn has been doing well so far and we passed 100 this weekend. Impressed with the healthy and rapid growth so far.

Nice collection of seeds! Good luck with them all! For rare/interesting varieties this year, I'm trying: Fuzzy tomatoes (Apricot and Red Boar) - I don't know what benefit hairy skin provides to a tomato, but I couldn't resist!; Heatless Habaneros (Habanada and Zavory varieties); and MOST interestingly the chili peppers sent to space by China. There are 10 varieties, I ordered the Solar Eclipse and will probably try 1-2 others as well. Thanks to this video, I may also try the cucamelon and peanuts for the first time. :)

Black corn is grown near the Andes mountains in South America. In Peru they make some sweet treat with it. I believe that all varieties of corn originated in diverse regions of America, south, central and north.
Potatos as well come from South America, from mainly Bolivia. At first Europeans did not know what part of the plants to eat, and over time it became part of their culture. Tomatos and avocados come from the Americas. Watermelons come from Africa, as slaves brought seeds in their hair styles. As new lands were discovered and conquered around the globe, some 500 years ago, many native plants were also taken back home with the conquerors. Among plenty of other things and even some people.

Hello from Wisconsin...I have placed a couple orders from Baker Creek so far this season and may have to again after watching your video. I am growing Brad's Atomic Grape tomato, Paul Robeson tomato. Salsify( which I saw on a Charles Dowding's video and I am totally jealous you went to visit him by the way ) Mountain mint , King of the north and Poblano peppers, Rocky top lettuce, Aunt Molly's ground cherries Scarlett Runner beans and variety of radishes after I heard they are delicious roasted :0 ( who knew? ) and more I am sure I have forgotten. This is my 2nd year growing food on a larger scale. I learned to can last year as well and I am hooked. I am developing a edible landscape on my urban setting and am really enjoying the process. The rabbits are a problem so I have lost a few fruit trees this winter because the snow got so deep they got inside my fencing around the trees and chewed the bark off . That was an expensive lesson :( I have my seeds all organized in the case you showed on a past video. Thank your friend for me that was an awesome idea. I have 2 for veggies and one for flowers....is there a support group ??? Tee hee ...Love your videos

I feel your pain, I can never control my seed purchasing, it usually goes like, I'm not going to buy any seed's thus year, oh actually I'm out of my favourite pea variety, I better order them, oh I might as well check to see what else they have new on here, twenty packets later 🤣 it's so funny I'm watching this in Ireland and a lot of the things you're growing I grow as well, the same varieties, been growing cucamelons since 2014 though 😉

German striped tomato - a beefsteak - the best ever, in my opinion. It gets huge but not mealy as so many beefsteaks tend to get. Dazzling purple kale I've grown for the first time, and it is beautiful. Did you try Atomic Grape tomato last year? I seem to remember it was one of the seeds in your video. I tried it and it did really poorly, all of the seedlings died, and none of my other ones did, but still gonna try again as it's so pretty.

The scarring on peppers is called corking. Some people say corked peppers have a better flavor and/or are hotter (probably an old wives' tale).
