Starting anything indoors in January is wicked therapeutic. I have snake plant and thanksgiving cactus cuttings rooting. Helps me keep my sanity! Thanks for the video Dave.
Thanks as always buddy! Stay warm and grow something
My kalanchoe is fliwering rn and its so nice to see little pink flowers in winter 🥹
I love kalanchoe they bloom during winter when nothing else is.
Beautiful package!
They always do a great job
I love the Baker Creek seed packages......The photos make me happy and excited to try growing them. I am thinking about trying their garden Huckleberrys this year. That showy milk weed is so pretty! I would love some seeds if you thin out your collection. Happy Growing!
Find my contact info and email me. I’ll send you a care package for this year’s growing. Just need to know your zone and climate
Thank you! I will do that. @@DaveTheHillsideGardener
Great haul!! Wow never thought of growing goji berry.
I know!! It’s gonna be a great experiment. Do you buy from baker creek?
I got the Yedikule lettuce also. What have you learned about it or planting it etc. have you planted the seed yet?
I didn’t plant just yet, but I found that it was the local lettuce of Istanbul. It was slightly bitter, not bred for modern bland lettuce, and was traditionally dipped in a plum sauce supposedly to offset the bitterness.
It was hard to germinate milkweed. What worked for me is to put seeds in ziplock bag on a wet towel and place it on a heating mat with light over it.
I will definitely try that method. Thanks
The byzantine lettuce is intriguing. I want to get some now! I have several books on Eastern Roman Empire, i need this lettuce. Lol great seed reveal! I need to put an order in asap.
I’m really excited for the lettuce too! Maybe even more than the seeds I actually ordered. It’s gonna be a great growing season!! Thanks for supporting the channel
Shanny McCabe, back when she was making videos for Baker Creek, pronounced that lettuce "Yeh'-dih-cool." A Google search turned up "Yeh'-dih-kyewl," for the correct pronunciation *in English.* I reckon, take your pick. And somewhere on the internet you can also find a site with the correct pronunciation in Turkish, but hopefully some viewer who knows the language can help you out with that one.
*Loving* that you're planting for the monarchs' larvae! We've got only the red/swamp milkweed seeds, largely (I think) because when I was a kid I'd walk to school past a vacant lot which had red milkweed and in the fall loads and loads of monarch butterflies and as a gardener you know I'm almost bound to be a traditionalist, and I'm also getting to feel a bit nostalgic, these latter years.
We received Landis Winter lettuce as one of our free seeds, too, and I'm looking forward to growing it.
I’m excited to grow all of my new varieties this year as well. I hope my monarch project works out! They loved my zinnias last season but you know they don’t lay eggs on them. This year will be a good one I’m sure of it. Happy growing
@@DaveTheHillsideGardener I do know, yes! 😄 Milkweed is just for the monarch larvae to feed on, once the eggs hatch.
It does strike me that we may never know for sure exactly how helpful we've been to the monarchs, but I'm strongly of the opinion that we ought to do for them all we possibly can and that has to include planting plenty of flowers for the adults to get their sustenance from. *I* hope your monarch project works out, too!
Do you have recommendations for flowers in addition to zinnias for the monarchs? This year the veggie garden will include carnations, zinnias, marigolds, cosmos, honeywort, nasturtium, snapdragons (very selfish, they're there because I adore snapdragons!), coreopsis, calendula, maybe some forget-me-nots, and that's all I can remember, off the top of my head. Oh, and trying some dahlias from seed this year.
Can you think of anything the monarchs especially love that I ought to add?
Where's the tomatoes!! Lol! I have to get some milk weed. Happy growing!
Haha I already have so many varieties and plus I’ve been saving my seeds so I do t need to buy anymore this year. Maybe I’ll do a tomato only seed video? Any interest in that?
@DaveTheHillsideGardener yes. Cause they are my fav !!! I finally have my green house set up and growing. I've got so many seeds and I ordered more!! Tomato seed saving video would be awesome too!
@karmakeefarm2686 will do
I got the yedikule in my seed order too. Just got them in the mail the other day.
