Just bought a new but discounted 2019 Ransom 720 and added some carbon 29’s with a DT Swiss 54t hub and some Cushcores. Can’t wait until the snow melts to feel what you’re talking about.
Thanks for the review! Gets me closer to the decision of actually getting this bike for 2019. That seat post hung up must be annoying. I'm curious what rear hub and brakes would you reccoment on this bike. So you approached about 35% sag in the rear? How did the fork feel without the spacer? Did it dive significantly? Did you feel the BB too high on the steeps? Was the middle twin lock setting detrimental for traction on more techy climbs/ did the rear have any tendency to hang up? Thanks again, really appreciate the content you're putting out, keep up the good work, have a great 2019 season and Merry Christmas in advance! Cheers!
And you could definitely run it with a 27,5 in the back, all the way from a normal 2,3 to a fat 2,8 inch version. You might like that. I have a friend who used to run a similar setup on a Specialized Enduro 2015 29er in order to get the BB lower and avoid assrub
Live Aeons I’d run xt 4piston brakes with better rotors, stans flow wheelset with their 72poe hubs. The bb felt spot on when run at 34/35% sag. Traction was never an issue on the climbs, even in full lockout the tyres are so big that its not even a thought. The fork was divey without a spacer, but not unbearable, just needed high pressure to counter it
11:21 a chain guide like Absolute black bash guide, which has the 77 Designz guide, which does that, it's made for oval chainrings, so it goes down enough, and does not sit as far back. I think that's a nice design, but I think the design which Scott uses is silly, also it moves with the chain stay, which is silly. I prefer Iscg 05 mounts, which the absolute black chain guide uses.
Another wicked review mate, I demo d a slash yesterday and it felt amazing, although I really love the look and the specs of the 2019 commencal AM 29ers, yes they are more expensive but do you think it would be worth the risk of pulling the trigger on one? Cheers
tompee552 I’m real keen to ride a Meta but I don’t know enough about them to say go or no. Meta will be a little heavier but I’m sure it absolutely slay descents. Slash will be more of an all rounder with excellent speed both ways.
Cheer mate, I’m keen for a bike that will really smash the downs and just do enough to get back up the hill without a heart attack. At 4k the slash is superb bang for buck though. Have a great Xmas mate
I guess a fix for the problem with the chain guide is to get clamp on Iscg 05 mount, if there is enough room for it, and mount a Iscg 05 chain guide, I think Absolute black bash guide is a good bet. but iot's a shame Scott did not make a proper solution, or allow easy solution to be mounted.
Was hoping you'd test it on 27.5's too to really show the versatility of this thing. Any idea what the Remedy would be like on 29s and what the Slash would be like on 27.5s? :P haha
LetsTestDrive I didn’t really have the bike long enough to give both wheel sizes a go but that would be a good addition to the test. Maybe something I’ll do in the future 👌🏽👌🏽
jim_ morrison I’m hoping some time mid January I can give that another crack. I’ve got the bar and stem combo now so just have to set up a time I can have the bike.

Johannes Nilsen yep I agree, if you build a bike designed to charge hard down hills it needs mounting for a bashy and chainguide

Wicked review
Cheers
Man you were shredding in the intro.
Jason Wako thanks man ✌🏼this was fun to make, the 2.6 dhf 29er is a whole lot of tyre on the ground

tompee552 try the trek remedy, it’s great downhill and climbs great, I love mine

Say the word and we'll make it happen :)@@mtbtelly5522
Ive heard that the rear shock on this bike doesnt have adjustable rebound? is that true?
JoelCrocWrangler yeah its got rebound, but no compression fine tune. And I’m not sure if youcan adjust air volume
@@mtbtelly5522 thanks
Great review! How tall are you? I'm in between on deciding small or medium.
Linus Qvarnström thanks bud. I’m 174 cm and medium felt good
Nice review bro. Where were you riding?
Richie M8 thanks man, at Morialta
Thanks man
What percent sag were you running front and rear?
ross_ rusher02 would’ve been just under 20 at the front and 30 at the back
Would you prefer the Scott ransom 920 or trek slash 8
Dylan Walton definitely the slash, faster up and down 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
MTB Telly
Thanks mate, is there any other 2019 Enduro bikes that I should look at. 👍
Dylan Walton Giant Reign with rockshox rear, Orbea Rallon I’ve heard is an excellent bike. If I didn’t have my Patrol I’d get a Reign in a heartbeat
MTB Telly
Thanks heaps 👍
Dylan Walton 2019/20 commencal meta am 29er
Any thoughts about swapping the patrol?
roi k. Nah, I’m starting to get the Patrol how I want it so shes definitely staying for now.
Will this frame accept a bash guard?
Mr. D you’d have to look it up I don’t remember
Nice trail, nice bike, great review!
would you rather scott to the patrol?
Gareth Davies nah I prefer the smaller wheels overall. If I was to get a 29er i reckon the Slash would be my pick so far
have you still got the patrol
Gareth Davies yep, the Patrols not going anywhere
When do you continue with the Banshee Rune? Please make a new video about that bike.. Cheers
jim_ morrison I’m hoping some time mid January I can give that another crack. I’ve got the bar and stem combo now so just have to set up a time I can have the bike.
@@mtbtelly5522 thank you for your answer. I'm really looking forward on this video because my next bike will be a Rune.
jim_ morrison sweet! Stay tuned man 🤘🏽🤘🏽
@@mtbtelly5522 oh I will for sure. Would you recommend a coil damper for this bike?
jim_ morrison for the Ransom, yes it would be a better bike with a good coil on the back
Nice 👍👍👍
I don't think this bike is for me.
