    I am building a sine inverter 5KW-48V, First, I need to build the transformer, Transformer must be big enough. I use 16 Kg toroidal iron core, Copper wire for 220V is 3.14mm2, Copper wire for primary is 12mm2. Because I use EGS002 module. I need a 28V for pre and 220V secondary. Once completed, the transformer weighs 20 Kg.

    The wire going to overheat at 5kw you should use 5 layer of thick wire to allow the current bigger space to flow stoping heating

    I have to say you most certainly are not skimping on material mass. Nicely done. Am not sure but there must be an easier way to wind this transformer. Using a spool bobbin with wire on the outside sliding inside the triodial donut rubbing the wire against itself can cause problems with thinned de-electric insulation from my experience. Look forward to more great videos from you Sir. VF

    My 5kva transformer is 16kg core 114mm inner diameter 223mm outer and 80mm high, 40cm2 core running flux at 1.406T 1.25V/Turn at 50Hz has a 230V secondary 184T of 3mm diameter 7.07mm2 enameled copper wire 54m wire length and 67Watts at 21.7Amps 230V, Primary is 28.75V 23T of 2mm diameter x 30 strands = 94.25mm2 at 28.75V and 175A is 58.5Watts plus core losses being 20Watts. 145.5w loss at 5000watts out = 97% efficiency. Add a 2 % loss in the inductor and inverter mosfets brings down to 95% not too bad.

      Hey, pleased to see some people do the calculations required to make a sensible design. Some of the designs for inverters dont even make the basic calculation (w=vxa) for the overall design to see the requirements.

    maybe you can take a 3 cm thick broom rod, 20 cm (or more) long, turn on him the wire about 10 cm (more or less). i hope it will take less time

    16kg's of silicon steel!
    This is why we use high frequency PWM sinewave synthesis converters. A 5KW high frequency converter would use an EE65 ferrite core that is less than 5% of the weight of the steel core.

      @@PhdHung I have also found that many high frequency inverters have questionable reliability, but it doesn't have to be like that. Many manufacturers use quite old fashioned voltage mode control inverter topologies that can't react to flux staircasing of the core, resulting in saturation and destruction of the power Mosfets. I've also seen inadequate snubbers using the wrong capacitor dielectric also resulting in self destruction. If these and other issues are addressed there's no reason they can't be very reliable.

      @@rogeronslow1498 What about surge load handling capability like starting of induction motor. Do you think ferrite core transformer can handle it better than iron core?

    • @rogeronslow1498
      @rogeronslow1498 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rupeshpilania7409 The surge current capability of inverters is dependent more on the MOSFETS and output diodes selected and the high freq filter inductor peak flux density. The transformer will just experience a temporary thermal spike which it should easily be able to cope with.

    • @sc0or
      @sc0or 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rupeshpilania7409 A surge capability must be included into a design phase. If your load is expected as 5kWt, and you have two (whatever) motors, then add yet more 2-5kWt and make a proper converter. This will be better than 20kg of iron. But if you're limited with MOSFETS from malfunctioning PSU, then well search for the core =)

    how can you know is a 5kw and not 3kw? Does it matter how "big" is this iron core, or is just what is easier for you to build? I imagine is easier to wind this wires on a big torroid then on a very small one, because on the big one there is more room to move your hands. But is that the reasoning for choosing such a big iron core, or it actually technically matters to be that big? And how exactly can you know upfront how big it should be if you want say 10kw or 7kw?

    I would like to make a request if you don't mind. Could you build a 12 KW PURE SINE WAVE INVERTER HIGH ACCURACY using only Precision Components? On one end having having a Precision Variac Variable Transformer adjustable from 0 to 240 Volts AC with adjustable Amperage say from 0 to 150 or higher Amps. On the other end would have PRECISION ADJUSTABLE DC VOLTAGE from 0 to 120 Volts or higher with a HIGH PRECISION ADJUSTABLE AMPERAGE from say o to 150 Amps or higher. Using only the best CAPACITORS, TRANSISTORS, DIODES, THERMISTOR, RESISTERS, and so on. Designing a very good Short Circuit protection System. Showing your design with clear Circuit Layout. Designing the Cooling System Using Low Voltage Fans with MINERAL OIL, FLUORINERT, HYDROFLUOROETHER or something like these within the HEAT DISSIPATION SYSTEM. With-in your design and build if you decide to take this challenge. Your design would have FOUR 110 - 120 VOLT / 20 AMPS AC outlets and TWO 220 - 240 VOLT AC / 30 - 40 AMPS outlets on the AC side. On the DC side you'll need up to EIGHT Low Voltage USB Ports for charging all modern devices. It would be great if you could put in your design a testing Station with Clear Readouts of DC Voltage and AMPS. Your design and build would have the ability to charge LEAD ACID, LITHIUM, and NICKEL METAL BATTERIES with Protection Circuits for Over Charge and Under Charge Detection and Reverse Hook Up and Short Circuit. Your design would need a Battery Balancing Circuit with Auto Cutoff and Alarm. Your Design would need to have Solar capabilities so the batteries could be charged using the SUN and Generator. It would be great if you could source all the components from Junk Found Around Your Area. This is a very large Job to take on. It will require a great deal of thought and Planing. I think it would be a great Educational Video and well worth your time, in my opinion. Yours maybe different. Please leave me your comment. If you don't mind telling me why you wouldn't consider taking it on. I hope you do take my suggestion and build this project. Thanks for the upload.

      Nobody does this for a good reason these are custom build inverters (neutral point clamped inverter) no big unit one fits all.
      If you use solar in 12KW range you should consider a HV solar System with around 500V Solar input without a transformer.

      @@losttownstreet3409 high frequency (transformerless) inverters are very bad - useless for inductive loads (start currents of motors, compressors, etc). With low frq. inverter like this, you can get out tripple of its max. power for shorter period! These properties are impossible to achieve on HF inverters ... We run two buildings on 8kW LF one (48v DC) for 6th year now 24/7, without a single problem, not only home appliances, but also milling and turning machines, CNCs, compressor, various welding machines ... Before we burned two brand new HF - high frequency (factory made transformerless) inverters. Living Off-grid is fun if your inverter is the right one.

      Hey , for the wire thickness you will need an area of more than 4mm2 , and this will be very hard to form into a coil if you used a single conductor so you should get many strands of thinner wire and use them in parallel, about the turns i don't really know but 3600 rpm will help you get the voltage you want l. Please take a look at my generator🙏

    The transformer is going to get extremely hot at 5kVA at 28V is 178.6A no way you will get all that current through 12mm2 primary winding. the secondary is also far too small. You will get about 1.2kVA limited mainly by the tiny primary winding, as it going get really hot and waste power.

      you don't know the maximum core capacity before you test it:
      at some point you'll get a
      iron core saturation (for iron you should get well below 2 Tesla)
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_core
      You'll see it on the secondary winding (with an
      oscilloscope) and it depends and you can't know on a used material. You should try to do more coupling of the primary and secondary wthout the core from wire to wire.
      The best core is air for extreme systems (winding on a trash can; yes the big >240L ones).
