I may have missed it but can you look at this gateway remotely to look at the stat's ?

Good question. When you set up the device you join it to Unifi.ui.com. This gives you access to what is called site manager. This allows you to access your configuration and stats and everything remotely (obviously as long as the device is conencted to the internet!)

Great video. I am going to be purchasing the Dream Machine SE. Will I still need a gateway or is the Dream Machine able to act as a gateway?

If you are buying the UDM-SE then this is a full router as well, so will be your gateway and OS Console all in one.

    Bit of a beginner here.
I have a 1 gig FTTP connection with Vodafone in the UK.
I want to move to unify eco-system and am trying to understand how this works and what I need. I am looking to future-proof my home.
So, If I get this unit, do I directly connect it to ONT/Fiber inlet to get internet working?
Would I then need PoE switch(whats recommended here) and a few AP's to get good solid wifi at home?
    Do I need anything else?
I have a user/pwd from my ISP to connect to the internet(I am assuming this is called ppoe), do I request them for an IP address?
    Thanks

Good questions. As long as your ONT / NTU has a RJ45 outlet then you can connect the UCG-Max directly to it. It also supports PPPoE, but I believe the performance (throughput) is a lot lower than in our tests) You can choose this settings on the WAN interface in the UCG-Max and the IP will be allocated to your device once authentication has taken place.
For a switch I would look at the USW-Ultra-60w as a nice little starter and I would choose either a U6-LR or a U7-Pro for the access points.
I hope this helps get you moving in the right direction.

Question... Is it compatible with other non-unifi AP'S? Im wanting to use it as a router for my existing Cisco AP's that are standalone and Microtek switch.

You can use it for any AP. But you cant "adopt" like unifi ap's. So those third party ap's will need to have their own built in controller. Am currently using an old xirrus ap with mine

Good question. This is a router, so anything network based will work with it with no issues. If you were wanting to control the access points from the UCG-Max then no it won't work, but it sounds like you don't want to do that, so yes all should be fine.

I’ve got a little problem with my new Unifi UXG-Max
I'm on a 2000/2000 Hyperfibre connection. When I connect with the PPPoE settings that I’m supposed to use, the WAN port changes to GbE and I only get 1 GB of speed, even if I set the port manually to 2.5 the Uplink stays on GbE and no Parent Device
When I change the connection to Auto DHCPv4 the WAN port changes to 2.5GbE and picks up the parent device as Mediatribe, but of course this doesn’t work as it should be a PPPoE connection
Any idea what the problem could be

Good question and this is a common one. PPPoE since it is an authentication / Encryption solution has an impact on network speed. On previous models the speed would be just 100 - 200mb/s or so. I believe that due to limitations in PPPoE / the way that Ubiquiti have implimented it, currently you can't get above the speed you are seeing. I would suggest you reach out to Ubiquiti and raise a ticket to see what their response is, but I believe you will only get over 1Gb/s if you are not using PPPoE

@@The_Tech_Geekswhich type of key is used to open the tray? Is it just the generic quick release key from other unifi?

    • @The_Tech_Geeks
      @The_Tech_Geeks  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, the standard flat one, but, from memory, it is included in the box for all the models except the No Storage.
