    Great video and telescope! I also have a skyview pro 8 and love it.

      I have the Skyview Pro mount, but I am between telescopes right now. I'm wondering how easily or difficult it is to rotate the tube within its rings to reposition the eyepiece.

      @@charlessands6933 Rotating the tube itself isn’t that hard but having to do it often can become a hassle. I try to view objects in the same region of the sky before moving on to other regions so I can rotate the tube less. Nonetheless the 8 inch tube delivers amazing views so in retrospect I would still have bought it over a smaller cassegrain or refractor.

      @@epicsice6838: I know. I asked you this because I've had newtonians before that had such a tight ring that you had to open the rings and remove the tube and reposition is every time and want to make sure that wasn't the case. Fortunately of all the newtonians I've had only one has been that way but I but now I check every time I'm going to buy one.

      @@charlessands6933 Oh I see. Fortunately the tube rings for this scope are definitely not that tight. They're lined with relatively slick felt so you can just slightly loosen them and rotate the tube without having to remove it.

      Hello. Nice video a good basic review of it. I am also looking to buy Orion skyview 8 pro, so i am trying to gether information as its pros and cons. One question is in my mind is what is this tube focusser diameter, my mean eyepieces of 2 inch and 1.5 inch both can be managed in it or only either one? Please if you can answer it will help full for me. Thanks

    I have this scope. I modified mine last week for astrophotography by moving the primary mirror forward about 1" so that my dslr can achieve prime focus. I use my Skyview Pro on my Skywatcher EQ6R Pro EQ mount. Very nice scope!

      That sounds really cool. I'd be interested to know how you moved the mirror up. That's pretty neat. I am thinking of getting a 4 or 6mp astro cam and a guiding cam. Do you know if i'll have to move the mirror for an astro cam? I know DSLR it's recommended.

      @@DroneProShots You probably will but it is NOT a difficult thing to do.

      I contacted Kevin. He 3D printed the clips for about $3.00 and sent them to me. His clips where not large enough to fit the mirror of my scope so I snipped the tops off and used the part that was already on the scope and went to Lowe's and found 6-32x3 machine screws which are long enough to reach through the whole assembly and connect properly. All of the outer hardware is the same and works the same.

    Can you please do a video on the tracking motors on this telescope? Also how can you take care of the telescope and the mount?

    I got one of these at a yard sale. I took the optics out and did some optical tests on the bench. The primary has obvious surface roughness and a zone. The secondary isn't flat either. Kinda shabby.

    Please make a video when you get those tracking motors! I would love to see that.

    I really want one of these telescopes but I have the fortune of living in Mexico, they double or even almost triple the price if I can find it here but I don't think so.

    I cam across this telescope due to that its a true 1000mm length tube.
    Truthfully is it any good?

    I have the opportunity to purchase this same scope second hand in great condition. Comes with 2" - 1.25" Focuser, 7 x 50x Right Angle Finder, and Skyview Pro Mount. Only $400 for the whole package. Having trouble finding original price of the scope. Do you think it's a good deal? I feel like I should jump on it! Lol

    • @DroneProShots
      @DroneProShots  ปีที่แล้ว

      The original price was about $1100. It now goes for about $1200-$1400 with some upgrades they have made.
