I BOUGHT MY FIRST PROPERTY! Real Estate in KYIV (Kiev) Ukraine! 🇺🇦

  • I can hardly believe it myself, but it actually happened. I bought my first ever piece of real estate. Out of all the crazy places in the world I could have bought my first home, it was here in Kiev, Ukraine (Kyiv). Here's the video tour of me visiting the property for the first time, as well as when I went back with my home inspector, plumber and electrician before finalizing the deal by putting an advance deposit with my lawyer and realtor.

And now, a city under siege, at the whim of a madman. I wonder where everyone in the video is, the realtor that helped Johnny, the people looking at his property. All happy prosperous people, now refugees or freedom fighters. Devastating. Breaks my heart to watch this knowing now what's happening. Glory to Ukraine.

RULE #1: Do not invest in any country that is outside of NATO or close allies of the US (Japan, South Korea) if you don't want to live with the uncertainty of losing it all some day because a madman decides it.

@@mariahewitt9787 No, but in Bulgaria and Romania, possibly even Croatia on the Adriatic coast, you can buy luxury apartments or even build a house for that money. All of these countries are in the EU, all are protected by NATO and touching any of them means nuclear destruction of Russia.

@@braves9652 My comment was not meant as criticism of Johnny, just a sad recognition of the political and social realities of this world. Hell, I probably would have bought an apartment in Kyiv too, if I had the money. Ukraine is a lovely country with lovely people. Or at least it was and will probably will be again. But the sad reality is that the only real progress in the world today is happening under the protection of NATO or the USA directly. With only a few outliers such as Singapore or UAE.

Hi Johnny! Congrats on your purchase. My biggest cause for paranoia would be the "empty dirt courtyard" outside , you can see that a building used to stand there, and usually what happens to those "empty areas" after a while is that a greedy construction company comes in and builds something, and trust me if it will then it won't be 3-4 stories. The biggest risk there (apart from having less light/a worse view outside) is that in order to achieve this they first dig up a huge pit, and the overall construction often causes other older buildings outside to develop cracks - better ask around your neighbors if they know anything about this and if they already have some sort of "court ban" in place to prevent this

    Slava Ukraine!!
My wife and I plan on visiting in the spring. Cindy (my wife) brought up the idea of buying a condo there in Kiev or Lviv. We will rent out our Portland condo for the time we're there. But maybe we will do like you, buy a condo for citizenship. Cindy really wants to connect with her grandparents legacy in Odessa.
    Your thoughts?

100% rent out your Portland Condo while you travel, but don't rush into buying anything here yet. I'd recomend you wait until the end of the war, as rent is cheap now, and you can see how things go and how you feel here. Kyiv real estate is still expensive, but Odessa is super cheap.

Not my cup of tea, but if you are happy, congratulations and all the best. Does this mean you will be living here for a while, will you go back to the USA.

I have visited Kiev 3 nights, Odessa 1.5 weeks only at 5 star hotels, Kharkov 1 week and find Ukraine nice country and most of the developments of infrastructure had been done in 1940s, very old subways, trams, buses, factories. My younger mechanical and computer engineer brother had visited Ukraine 10 times, mostly stayed at airbnb , contemporary apartments of Lviv, Odessa, Kiev, Kharkov and 6 other Ukraine cities and enjoyed himself paying high prices at ukraine restaurants with ties and smokins. He had always returned back to Ankara single as he is against money paid interminglings unlike me 537 various paid and intermingled ladies with me and I am pork eater and orderer at restaurants.

By the looks of it none of those are estate agents but mere unnecessary middle men/woman ... very weird !!
