Growing up in the 70's Barry Sheene was my absolute hero. Watching him pass Kenny Roberts then flick the vee's at him during the '79 Silverstone GP was epic.
In other news, full marks to Fagan for riding a 500cc hand grenade without a working rev counter.
It was tricky 😂
It was well worth it
I was there, at Stowe! Age 16, rode my RD250 from Leighton Buzzard. First solo trip to a race.
Jeez, can you imagine giving a 16 year old a 250 today?! I was only 10 at the time so could only dream. @@HughMessenger
I was there too. I came on my GT250 X7😊
How does Steve Parrish not age? He looks the same as when I saw him at Northwich Thundersprint about 15 years ago. Fair play to him 👍
Apparently, he looked 55 years old when he was born! 😂
Lol
Handlebars over the bed keep you fit.
I was at that Thundersprint 😂

Omg my childhood Barry Sheene was and is a total legend ❤️
His wife thought the same thing!!
@@alexnutcasio936 no need for that! He never said he was a saint!
Yes, Barry was a legend for the Continental Circus. A good race man 👍. Phil 🏍️ 🇨🇵 gsxr 1000 r. 2018 Originslimited n 14 France 🇫🇷.
You jammy, lucky, lucky, lucky bar steward !!!
Great to see those magnificent machines being used....who doesn't ❤ 2 strokes!!
That was so cool. Anyone would be green with envy. Thanks for taking us along.
This is so sick! Sheene is one of greatest characters of our sport.
Not sure what this has to do with vomit - but Sheene was a legend 😎
Nothing like the sound & smell of 2 stroke in the morning!!! Oh, the torque too.
Gawd, that took me back. How I lusted after an RG500 as a young biker in the '80s. When the 650 hit the powerband and the exhaust note changed, it reminded me of my stupidly tuned RD250LC, nothing 'til 8000 then pull your arms off all the way to 12000. I am a car man now, but if I were to go back to bikes it would have to be a two stroke! Brilliant stuff, great footage.
Outstanding video 👍. Thank you for putting this together. Absolutely love the 2 strokes!! Greetings from the USA.
Thank you fellas! As always, cracking to see anything from any of you three!
Friend has a RG500 gamma here in Canada. Rode it when I had a 900 Ninja , in 1990. Super small, but in the power , wheelies in 3 rd. !
The sound and smell , when you were warming it I swear I could smell it here in igloo land !
Pawlak
Love watching it. Nice to see some legendary bikes being used again.
Honestly I think the fear of binning it would wipe out all of the enjoyment. Boothy at the end was hilarious 🤣🤣
Thank you for sacrificing yourself and creating this awesome content for those of us that love 2-stroke GP machinery!
Literally, made made hairs stand up. My favourite circuit, on the all time, dream bike. What an awesome sound, what a great experience for you. I grew up in the 70's and this brought so many memories back for me, Barry and Kenny, true Icons
Barry Sheen ❤❤❤ I’m lost for words.. I never had an RG but when through a few LC’s and YPVS’s.. Loved this clip, thank you
Nice, exciting, cool…nice sound. Amazing!!!
Thanks for bringing us along on this piece of history and glad to see Boothy in the commentary box
Legend!!! Both you and Sir Barry Sheene
What an amazing opportunity for you to ride these amazing legendary Sheen bikes what an honour unbelievable!! 👌🏻👍🏻😁
that was not an experience , it was a divine occourance ! very fortunate and blessed to such a day!
Could see in the intro how hard you were trying not to grin from ear to ear! Lucky devil!!! 😂
Im so glad content like this is on TH-cam. Absolutely jealous, thanks 44 teeth. Long live two strokes
You lucky bugger…..that’s a proper once in lifetime moment ticked off…..👍😉🇮🇲👌
RG sounds phenomenal! Looks gorgeous too, has aged well.
Seeing Barry back at Goodwood for the Revivals was always a highlight. He was a great hero.
You jammy bastard !
I’m old enough to have seen the 500’s from the mid 70’s when we were kids and my mates grandad used to take us to Silverstone our local circuit so I saw Sheene in his prime and through to Rainy and Schwantz in the early 90’s. I’ll never forget the sound of a grid full of them at full chat.
Had the privilege to meet Barry on numerous occasions and spend time in his motorhome with him. Those were the good old days.
Wow, amazing. I imagine blowing it up is as much of a worry as crashing it, especially with no rev counter lol. Sounds amazing. Makes me miss my 94' RGV250.
My first experience of watching bikes at Cadwell Park back in the 70s, was seeing Barry racing a big RG along with Ago and many others racing at an International meeting they used to ride along with their GP commitments.
The suites, as always, are on point Lads
Work of art, that sounds beautiful, I can smell the Castrol R from here lol
All that with zero revs too lol. Power bands. Just love two strokes ✊
Great little film 👍
These classic bikes are insane, and that right side shift must’ve been so strange to navigate 😅 What an opportunity to ride them though. Good luck for cadwell this weekend lads 😎✌🏼
What a day, one you’ll never forget. Riding on a damp track with old slicks, your balls are as big as Sheenes.
Lee gourlay would jump from r/h to l/h race to race at a meeting no problem.
Bravo on the intro shots/edit. Statham actually managed to look cool coming out of the trailer 😂👍🏻
❤ 44 Beards, what a channel ❤
What a noise! That RG sounds amazin
Good to see Sravros still knockin abaht
Sitting here dreaming about sniffing the fumes! Loving the routing of the rear spannies on the big bore bike...
😁
I had the pleasure of meeting Barry in the pits at Spa in 1984. I just walked up to him whilst he was working on his bike .. we had a little chat and he signed my ticket. Different times!
This is the stuff that still excites me!
Wow, what a great vid, bikes sound as smooth as the day they were built
abs fanatstic Sheene was my boyhood hero in the 70's & 80's & ive still got the posters & news clippings of Sheene from that era i had on my bedroom wall ,great to see his bikes are kept alive
Great stuff enjoyed this as much as watching his 1976 xr14 being restored
Amazing- great to see 👏🏻
I was about to say it looked like cracking weather....bummer about the showers (rain and coolant) but what an experience!
You Lucky Luck Luck boy, that is the pinnacle of anything Sheene Suzuki If your a Barry Fan… I’m so jealous as back in the day I saw the great man racing on it. Marvellous.
RIP. the great Barry Sheene, he did so much good for the sport then taken way to early.
Mike Hailwood my hero comes to mind way to short.
I had a magazine centre pin up of his bike when the back wheel went pop on Daytona , it had a caption “ at 195mph all a rider could do is pray “ , that must of been some praying Barry done to survive
Fantastic video, anything sheene you cant go wrong! Love the ending haha👍
Please keep boothy on board. What a perfect team with the Baron too. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant content as always. Those 2 smokers sing when on the pipe!!
Lots of old bikes. I love it
😂 Got to see that close up as you passed me on the XR69 into the hairpin & on to the wet bit😂😂
Joli rassemblement, belles machines, comme à la grande époque de Barry Sheene. Superbes souvenirs avec ces 2 temps en 500 cm3. 👍 Toute une époque du Continental Circus ! 👏 Bravo ! Phil 🇨🇵 gsxr 1000 r L8 origins limited n °14 France 🇫🇷.
It's the hard work and the success of the channel that gets you opportunities like this. What a privilege. #statham #sueperkins #boothy
Pretty cool. Sounded lean to me. I've been doing alot of laps on Ride 4 lately so that was fun to watch. 🙂
I met Barry at Keith Heuwens wedding at Binbrook Church .Lincolnshire .UK.
A TRUE GENTLEMAN !!!!!!!!! Nothing was too much trouble for him . He spoke to everyone and signed many auotgraphs !!
His wife Stephanie was there too . WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You lucky little bugger Barry . !!! A stunningly beautiful lady .
He was loved worldwide and in Australia where i now live there is still a motorcycle celebratory ride for him every year before the Philip Island GP . Well done Barry . You will never be forgotten . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Top notch cinematic exit at the start there
Those dials are creasing me up, what an experience that must have been
So interesting to see and hear moto journalists whos articles I have read for years.
Bit of a frustrating weekend with the weather. Thanks for not running into the back of me on the start finish straight! Oggie is a star!
I see a clean Aprilia RS250 on the way home this evening, thought to myself here's me stuck in a bloody car while he's on 2T marvel. So glad i've kept a hold of my Mito 125 since i was a teen 20 years ago
So jealous, what an opportunity, nice one. 🙂
Super cool! I hope that was fresh rubber on the bikes. 🤘
I love that two stroke sound, lack of engine braking and there is nothing like the smell of those bikes.
Awesome bikes ❤
As soon as you started riding, I suddenly got a flashback to an old biker film I saw on TV once - Silver Dream Racer starring David Essex (1980)
If I remember right, it was the engine out of one of Mamola's 1983 XR-45 bikes in a Harris frame. So, it was a works engine.
Kin Barry Sheen, Legend!
In my teens Barry was my hero. My dad's home town hero was Phil Read. Irony is I now wear a Phil Read replica helmet.
Came from a time of great innovation. From about 74 the two strokes just went ballistic.
Good on ya mate, that must've been quite the experience. Had no damn clue his bike was right-side shift, that sounds impossible to get your head around in a scant 4 laps, especially when you're focusing on keeping it shiny side up.
To quote "Monty Python" - "You lucky, lucky Bastard", I grew up inn the 70's and 80's with a poster of Barry on one of those black, red and yellow bikes, on my wall. Ahh the good old days✌🤟🤘👍🤛👏
Living the dream!
Great job.
Seen those great machines at silverstone museum a couple of years ago down to watch the moto gp,brilliant to see some on board footage and fair play taking on the right sided shift, am with boothy no way I could do that either😂👍🏻
You lucky bastard 😂👍 superb!
With the technology we have these days, just imagine what a Ducati or KTM modern 2 stroke motogp would look and sound like and moreover how it would go !
Well done for having the balls to ride a bike with such a highly valued heritage
it was good watching that rev counter on the red bike
I remember Barry Sheene saying that 650 would wheelie on the throttle in sixth gear. It’s an absolute beast 😂
Front end got light…
Love power wheely's.
Tom Herron, Barry's team mate, was sadly killed at the NW200 in 1979 riding a 650 transatlantic bike identical to this.
i remember them well hope you appreciate what you were on there wow
Awesome!
I had the pleasure of riding one of Peter Hickmans Old R1 a couple of weeks back! Owned by a local guy! Loved it
What a lucky lad you are. Also did anyone else notice the guy in the vintage parts jacked looked like he was going to shove a Frankfurter in the exhaust 🤣
Love Suzuki, awesome video
That Kevin Schwantz 34 bike at 5 seconds - oh my days😍
Screaming 2 stroke is fabulous.
I can't imagine having an opportunity like that...
Oh well, off to go play Ride 5 with my helmet and boots on.
Magnificent bikes and video
The lack of a functioning rev counter on the 500 is bizarre. But more so is Fagans referring to it as if it was. However with a working tacho for evidence, he appeared to ride the 652 rather well.
Fantastic 😃🏆
Somewhere there's a photo of me age 14 sat on Barry's bike at a school event! nearly 35yrs later I was cutting Steve's lawn and got to see his bike I'm nearly 60 now still riding 😊
My school books were covered in my hand drawn front on views of those bikes and that 7 😍
Would be nice to see some dyno charts of these two bikes
whats the reason behind the right hand shift was it due to his injuries?
What was that contraption that they were rolling the back wheel on ??
I was chasing you round on the Gsxr 600 in the first onboard was enjoying the smell 👍
Get in there Betty!
Is the throttle blipping because they won't idle, engine's cold and to hasten warm up time, prevent seizure, something else?
Your offered Sheens bike around a circuit. Better be saying hell ya Brings back at lot of memories.
That noise is just ridiculous 🤤🤤
When did they stop the push starts?I can't remember.
Amazing what you were able to do at under 3k RPM the entire time!
What did they wire the gauge on the left to? Sketchiness?
