This is where the Precure movies peaked. I loved watching these as I got into Precure in the mid 2010’s. They mean so much to me and I will always remind new fans that these are a much watch.

I have my laptop at full volume and I am having to find headphones so that I can actually hear you. You were definitely louder in your last video, and I just thought that you might want to know.

For example I appreciated how much respect you gave when you discussed Yes5. I saw so many people who called that season a mess or mistake, which just seemed incongruous and overly harsh to me, which just like that Reddit user said, is probably due to surface level rash judgments. I would really love to go more into depth and tell you about what I mean! But I figure that would probably be best to discuss in a place like on dis cord or something! Do you have that? Honestly I feel like all stats movies now should have two parts to let the plot how they meet and the interactions go on for longer especially nowadays because of all the new cures now
Thanks for your thoughts on Precure canon. Personally, I think it's just easier to consider each series aside from the sequels its own separate universe and basically take any attempts to connect them all as the writers trying to be cleverer than they are.
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy these movies, but I get it given how these movies are mostly spectacle.

As for your thoughts on these three movies, yeah I get it. Personally I really liked DX 3, but I agree with DX and DX 2. They're just kinda meh for me. That said, I think the newer All Stars films (from 2017 to 2021) as well as All Stars F fix the issues you had regarding the lack of character interaction. There's still plenty of action, but as someone who prefers the character interactions, the newer films did it a lot better.
Honestly while I've been a precure fan for quite a few years, I never had the chance to watch the first 3 allstars movies because the site I was using to watch precure didn't carry them, so my tiny pre-teen brain just assumed they were lost media of sorts. I managed to watch all 3 of them by early 2023 (after rewatching the three seasons tied to the movies) and they were honestly a really nice way to incorporate crossovers to me.
I can definitely see why you may not have enjoyed them as much since you bring up many valid points, but I guess in my case I was pretty nostalgia blinded and honestly was desperate for any kind of crossover content since I love all types of crossovers 😅 They're not my favorite all stars group of films (that would definitely have to go to the dream stars saga) but they come pretty close behind and I'm so happy more people are able to watch them now! I think the movies improve over time, with the most recent allstars probably being my favorite, so definitely look forward to them!
Oh boy, Otona was such an interesting concept with varying execution and I also have a lot of mixed feelings on it so I'm curious as to what you thought of it! The nostalgia definitely made the series more enjoyable to me but I've been seeing a lot of valid complaints from people who haven't watched yes 5 and gogo or only finished them recently so I'm interested in how that affected everyone else's experience with the series ^^

I'm disapointed that you forgot poisony when talking about the villains.
Yes I agree she was super bland as a character but unlike her cohorts she doesn't rely on brute strength and actually makes unique plans that are interesting to watch
Then there's the fact she's one of the more sinister villains, as over the 9 episodes her arc is made of she attacks a whole schooltrip, she mind controled everyone who ate her chocolate and she brainwashed two girls to try and commit SUICIDE and drive the cures with them

Fair. I think most the villains that season blurred together for me (despite what they might pull off) because they were so bland personality wise. She was one of the stronger ones now that I think back, but by the time I had reached the end of the season she had just completely slipped my mind. 🤷♀️ she might have had that brutality, sure, but it failed to make her memorable in the long run.

Having watched the series in a very random order of "whatever one grabs my eye at any given time" and only having watched the crossovers attached to the seasons I was actively watching... The crossover movies have accounted for both my favorite Precure movie and my least-favorite. And even though this video neither deals with said favorite or said least favorite... I think you somehow managed to articulate pretty nicely what made said favorite movie the best one in my eyes. Because, like, while I can't claim that said one *doesn't* suffer from several of the issues you pointed out with the All Stars DX movies, I think it also managed to play to a lot of the strengths of the franchise that... none of these movies really managed to fully capitalize on.
As far as these movies specifically go though, I have seen the second and third but not the first, and my assessment is basically that the second movie had more impressive action, but the third one was more *fun* on the whole... for two thirds anyway. The climax really did not land at all for me due to being so accutely aware that it was *actively impossible* for the terrible consequences they were teasing to actually happen. Thus making all the drama surrounding it ring incredibly hollow, even before the oddly whiplashy end credits sequence.
Your second paragraph hits my thoughts EXACTLY
Even though most of them are meh, and some of them are just plain bad (I'm looking at you Haru no Carnival), there are some All Stars movies that are very good, i haven't watched all of them, but for me they are the Smile Precure All Stars movie, the Hugtto movie (2nd one), and Precure All Stars F (The Hirogaru Sky Movie), but oh boy, it'll take you some time to get to them 😅
If you ever have time, can you do a review on Rayearth? Or yuuki yuuna? I'm interested to see your opinions on it.
I think you'll enjoy later movies more. The DX trilogy has the most action focus. Over time, the formula changes more often. Some even limit themselves to just 3 Precure Teams, which creates more space for character interactions.
But you will have to get used to the Miracle Lights. But in later films the audience is addressed less directly. New Stage 1 has the worst moment with that.
And don't think too hard about the Precure canon. That doesn't make any sense at all. The crossovers are just for entertainment.
Yeah. And normally I’m just whatever about the miracle lights (though the Heartcatch movie did it the most subtly which I appreciated) but because there was nothing else about the movies that was grabbing me and the movies already felt so much like a toy commercial, it stood out all the more than normal.

In All Stars world, every January Nagisa wakes up, looks outside to see a ruined world, gets a call from Honoka asking if they should do something, and promptly declares today a good day to sleep in.
I find All Stars best when it's just dumb fun. Let the established characters interact with each other as much as possible, get some cool fights, and get through whatever plot there is as quick as possible to get to the good stuff. These movies are too short and crammed to have any sort of depth. So I've always had DX3 as the best of the crossovers, as it wasted no time throwing the teams together and letting the characters have different interactions than their usual fair. DX1 holding off the meeting till the end just ruins the point of the movie, and DX2 was kind of eh all around. It's good to have a goal in mind, and All Stars is usually at its best when it focuses on fun crossover shenanigans over everything else. That's what DX3 does right, even if other All Stars are better in certain aspects.
Well DX3 was the best. Until very recently. I've soured on Precure crossovers lately, but it looks like they can still be good even after all these years.
I enjoy the movies for the most part, but it would be nice to cut down on the characters in each one. Maybe if they just reduce it to two seasons of characters each movie it would give the characters time to develop and bounce off each other while still leaving time for the big action set pieces.
I definitely love the movie but its because of me being a child when I first consumed it
Now that I grew up, I do not really see the appeal but still loving it nonetheless
And I agree, Precure Movie lives in a Time Bubble and obviously written by new writer that is separate from the TV series. Honestly, I just headcanon it as Alternates Universes and stuff
Also, do not start with the future inconsistencies for each series with previous, just, do not think about it 🥹
It’s the curse that I e d up thinking about these things because the movies don’t have the elements that I usually like to distract me and keep me from thinking about that logic. I was doomed from the start.
