“The truth isn’t always emotionally satisfying to us” 👏🏽🙌🏽 reminds me of Psalm 13 how David asks the Lord how long? How long will the Lord forget him? But as you read the text you see that the Psalm doesn’t end with an answer to “how long” but magnifies WHO the Lord is. That He’s merciful, the He’s our salvation, that He deals bountifully with us! Praise God that He’s so consistent that Who He IS causes us to rejoice even through those times of suffering!
The irony is that I have a PhD in biblical studies and I have studied and researched most related topics to the point when I have a good idea of the limits of what we can know. I am one of those who people come to see to get biblical answers. However, I have long realized that in the grand scheme of things I still know very little and compared to God, I know even less than a newborn before she opens her eyes for the first time (we should keep things in perspective even when we have fancy degrees). This is very comforting when I do not understand what some of the things God did or will do as shown in the Bible (and there is still a lot I know that I will never fully grasp on this side of heaven) or what God is doing in my life. No matter how painful it is, I know that the problem is not with God but with my limited understanding. Approaching things that way and reverently going to God for clarity brings me peace in the storm and keeps me from sinning against God as he works in me and through me. Once we realize that understanding everything is not a prerequisite and will never be a reality, the foundation of our relationship with God and the universe around us becomes our trust in God for who he is instead of our understanding of what is going on which is limited at best and often corrupted by sin and the flesh. The attitude of the heart is important when we approach this question and go to God. With humility and reverence comes understanding and if not peace that he who understands all has it all under control.
Beautifully written. When I was in the world, not understanding something left me hopeless but in him, I feel comfort, and freedom and hopeful even in my limitations. Hes so good ! Much peace to you 💜
i never comment, but i’m watching this at a time where i can’t even articulate why i’m wrestling with God - thank you for helping young adults like me have language to communicate with God so that we may remain on this narrow way. truly.
I have said those exact words, written those words, screamed those words to the heavens..."God, You don't care about me, You're just using me"! Boy that hit home and I am so blessed to say that I'm on the other side of that feeling. Such a hard truth that emotionally satisfying answers are not always truth. Truth was He was using me to minister to others but He was also using others to minister to me. He was holding me up while I was trying to pull others up. I love Him for that. I pray this book reaches all who need to hear it.❤
Once people understand that God, is still going to love you, walk with you through the sin (sanctification).... you'll stop being frustrated. No you can't continue to do what you want..... but for the ones that are struggling and we know we want to stop and change....God got you and he will use us even in it.
This podcast is really helping me innerstand how to build a relationship with Christ . I did the sage and crystal thing . But I truly feel free building a relationship with Christ
I am so glad to hear that other people are going through this. I thought maybe I wasn't saved. I totally understand people leaving the faith as they wrestle with God. If you don't know it's normal and common your natural feeling is to leave the faith. God is so amazing to know our hearts and still love us and restore us.
Thank you to The Perrys for having thought-provoking and Holy Spirit led conersationists on the show!! Keep up the great work!! Love ya'll and praying for your continued success.
It is important to distinguish between what is normal and what is right/biblical. Normal just means common to human experience (for example sin and unbelief are normal). In that framework, resentment and anger toward God are normal but they are not necessarily right. If someone ever had “grounds” for resentment and anger toward God, it was Job. After losing his wealth, his children, and his health. The Bible states “In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong” (Job 1:22 and again 2:9b). We cross the line when, amid our pain, we accuse God of doing what is wrong thus placing ourselves as God’s judge. This is not to say that we should not be open with and share with him our feelings, and expectations versus reality, and the fact that we absolutely do not like and enjoy what is going on but… like Job, in all of that, we should not forget our place and who we are talking to. Pain does not give us a pass to disrespect the Most High and sin with our lips. Like Job humility and surrender lead to healing and restoration.
OMG!! I legitimately had a moment this morning where I just broke down with so many questions for God… questions I would have been so afraid to ask growing up out of fear of being struck by lightning. I am 40 years old and just getting to a place where I feel comfortable “questioning” God. I grew up in church and have been churched my whole life and have definitely found myself wanting to leave the faith multiple times for many reasons, I have felt a breech in trust with God and because some things just have not made sense. He’s guided me to this for a reason. I still have so many questions but so glad to know I’m not alone. One thing I will say is God literally used my 5yr old to save my soul and, no matter the lingering questions, I’m being pulled towards Him rather than away… and for now I’m going rest and move forward in that fact. Thank you, Lisa, for your openness about this topic.❤
There is purpose in the pain, that is where God develops us, grows us up and stretches us, that process will never be over, on earth. Love Lisa’s reason to help - the ‘bleeding‘ ❤❤❤ I am going to read this book, TY Lisa
This is one of the best episodes I’ve ever seen from you guys. The amount of though provoking lines I got from this will require a few rewatches from me, for sure! Thank you!❤❤
This is such a good conversation! I’ve been looking for more supplemental reading to recommend for couples and families in my work. Knowing that some of our issues with God, the church, or any other relationship stem from our desire to only have emotionally satisfying answers. Peace and patience are two examples of fruit that God frequently sent me on an assignment to gain. He didn’t just give it to me.
My favorite part was when yal talked about the cereals. Just kiddin this was awesome, thank yal. I appreciate Lisa's honesty about her struggle with the hard question
I took this Professor's New Testament class at UNC-Chapel Hill (who wrote her textbook) and as a PK, this did indeed kind of rock my world. He gave us an option at the end of the semester to either do an assignment or attend a class to only hear his story to becoming (at that time) Agnostic. It was essentially deduced to world hunger and his inability to reconcile its existence.
Oh my gracious!! 30 minutes of silence with the LORD, before moving to scripture, prayer, requests.. I know that I know, the Holy Spirit is speaking to me. Thank you!

As soon as Jackie said her outfit remind her of a song. I knew the song before she said it 😂😂😂 and I don’t know all the lyrics either. I mumble the exact same part LOL
The roast in the beginning was hilarious but the jewels dropped in this episode was even better! I'm so thankful to have stumbled across Jude 3 project some years ago. I had "my" Life Groups class go through their apologetics book last year. I learned so much
I was blessed by this and I love that she dresses professionally. I also will say I've struggled with the goodness of God when it comes to the life of Judas I'm still wrestling tbh and so I'm glad that I'm not the only one who found the emotional more wearisome than the logical
not Lisa Fields being a fellow Liberty alum... that just made me so happy as a fellow alum & someone who admires & is inspired/energized by her work! ahhh, kk lemme get back to the rest of this episode, so good 🤭🔥
This was a very enlightening interview. Thank you all for teaching and speaking to the glory of God as you discover your own paths. May God continue to bless you more according to His perfect will in Jesus' name.

Hi @@PoSHEmediaglobal. I just wanted to say that God can see you where you are. You don't have to hide how you feel or the things that bother you. I already listened on Spotify but I literally got on here to see her outfit. Lol 😂

30 minutes of silence. Allow the Lord to search my heart. Then Bible reading and then prayer. I love that!
Wow she just freed me with a one liner “peace is the assurance of God, not the absence of negative emotions” (paraphrasing). WOW! Needed that. 😭
