  • This fly was given to me many years ago by a Scottish Internationalist and friend Robbie Baldi. Not only was it my most successful point fly on my dry fly cast at Loch Leven but all over the place this thing caught everywhere. Rutland , Grafham, Eyebrook, Pitsford and ofc the Lake of Mentieth. I would never be without it in all honesty.
    Thanks Robbie

    Ah, Steve Parton! The world is a poorer place without him, my supplies of Sparton gear are running out fast. Nice video, thank you.

    Thanks for this great video, David. I only have the mylar pearl tinsel, but I'll use a yellow permanent marker to give it some hue! Oh, yeah, the weather here in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is brutal - -30C with the windchill! Sunny but so very cold! I guess over on this side of the pond, we'd call this patter an "emerger".

      Good Idea but Pearl mylar should be fine also thanks for your ideas.

    Many thanks for this pattern. I have used it this week for the first time at Grafham which proved a great success. I coupled it with a claret hopper as a sighter . Fantastic sport seeing a slight swirl and then lifting into the fish as the hopper slides away.

    • @TheDavedownie
      @TheDavedownie  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardferrara86 no just plain black but would work with orange also and maybe even green

    Hi David,
    Thank you for another very good informative video.
    I still have the Steve Parton Tinsel (blast from the past)
    Unfortunately despite an extensive search on internet
    I cannot locate any 3/4 mm foam.
    Nearest I can find is Veniards Foam Sheets 2mm wide.
    I would be most obliged if you could suggest anywhere
    I could locate the 3/4 mm foam.
    Thanking you….Keep the video’s coming..
    Always a pleasure to watch….👍👍👍

    When is the best time to use this pattern please?

    • @TheDavedownie
      @TheDavedownie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All year round to be honest, I use it as a generic buzzer pattern trying to hatch. Early morning rises were my fav time to fish this.
