I had an undercut in the back of my head and never again! It took forever to grow out, and year 4 now. It is nearly long enough where my undercut is gone, but now we need layers and a bit of texture. I loved it until I saw how much work it is to maintain. I have fine curly hair, so layers work great. No undercut!! 😂
The cut suits him nicely as he wanted to keep length. It was fun to see something different, too. Having said that, he was already just tying up his hair and didn't seem overly happy about it. Perhaps he'll rock this for a while them go ahead and get it shorter on top.

Long hair is so low maintenance in my experience because I don't have to work so hard to keep the shape of the haircut. When I had short hair it only looks good a month or so and then my bangs and sides get crazy and the thickness gets out of hand. You do need a proper trim now and then but it doesn't look shit so soon, and you buy time with the proper shampoo and conditioner (and I use leave in as well) to make sure you keep moisture in the ends. You do want the right cut for your lifestyle, the way your hair behaves, etc. the right cut at any length MAKES your hair lower maintenance because you aren't fighting it, need less product, and and often air dry and let it do its thing.
I was not happy when I heard they were doing an undercut. I was hoping it would be an epic transformation!! lol But he does look better and I’m glad he is happy with it 👏

It looks a lot better than what he had. It looked quite scruffy before he had the cut. I can't say I can understand why you would want your hair tied back all of the time though, but that's just me. I think he would have looked great with a shorter cut.

I think this is one time where i disagree with the approach... The undercut and basic cut was a GREAT first step to get him to let go but i think with some encouragement he would've looked amazing in some medium/ long layers to give shape around his face... plus some basic care tips for curly hair/ layers. It would've been an easy 'style and go' with his curls and not a ton of time drying or brushing etc. Probably the time he expressed issue with brushing and brushing would've been length and also tangles from miles of splits or broken ends. Maybe he'll have someone get their hands in his hair with some gel or some such. Even with low porosity hair, that'll greatly work in his favor and I'd even very his hair thickens up and maybe recovers some of that front hairline depth without all that weight pulling on it now!
When I first saw the picture of the suggested haircut, my immediate reaction was, "What the heck? Dan must've been drunk to think this was a good idea." But now, after seeing the results, it turns out I'm the one who looks like they've been hitting the bottle!
