    Great video. I just got one out of my father n laws barn. I have more "iconic" tools than I know what to do with! 😂 he retired from the carpenters union as a union rep, teacher, superintendent, ect. And im just a dumb drywall and framer lol. But I might start my own company with all these tools. They all seem to work well. Thanks for the video sir I will be cleaning mine up as well!

    Wow John you really do understand the workings of this type of tool I cannot believe you designed one and brought it to market I didn‘t realize you had so many strings to your bow fantastic mate I’m a little bit disappointed though you didn‘t fire it through your neighbors fence to test the mechanism properly🤣👍⚒️

      it’s funny John because I see those all the time on the flea market I might be tempted to pick one up now I know what they actually do thanks for the video may really enjoy it as always :-)

      @@tooladdict7463 This model is okay. I see others at flea markets that are old obsolete tools with no parts availability.and/or loads and fasteners so they would be non working tools..

    Hi. Great video! I work for a contractor in Nova Scotia Canada. We recently purchased another one of these off Ebay. The shot cartridges will not feed. I took the back end off but honestly not sure what to look for. Can you advise please?

    Hi John, those first clone tools really were badly made, they have improved but they are still not as good as the original. At least some of the parts for Hilti's new DX-2 tool will fit on the DX-350. I had a DX-350 clone tool repair come in once with the DX-2 base plate. I gave them a clone base plate and kept the Hilti one.

    Thanks for you quick reply, I know nothing usually compares to Hilti but do Spit come close ? I’ve never owned one of these ( only hired ) but doesn’t look like much can go wrong. The gun I’m looking to buy seems a bargain, it comes with some cartridges and fixings and they can demonstrate working, it’s £25 or approx $35.

    • @johnfix1
      @johnfix1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      SPIT made some tools for Ramset that were imported to the USA and they used a circular 10 shot disc load. Other than that one I am not familiar with their tools. If you are getting it to use you may want to be sure the powder loads are still available. $35 is a good price for a working tool with accessories. The key thing is to keep the tool clean and to always start with a light load first. Overpowering the tool is dangerous and can also cause tool breakage.

    Great video, I'm looking to get one of these, I'm in the U.K. Does Spit brand mean anything to you ?

    • @johnfix1
      @johnfix1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SPIT is located in France and manufacturers powder actualed tools. SPIT was purchased by ITW Illinois Tool Works in the 1980's. ITW also owns Ramset Fastening Systems.

    Hi. I have this gun but it doesn't shoot. I took it Apart many times, cleaned and still doesn't work. Do you know where is the problem ?

    • @johnfix1
      @johnfix1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      sorry I would not know without having the tool in hand. It's either a broken part or needs complete tear down and cleaning. Also could be incorrect reassembly.

    What chemical do I use to clean the tool? Also what chemical to lube it upon reassembly? Thanks.

    • @johnfix1
      @johnfix1  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use WD-40 To clean tool. Also lubricate tool with WD-40 and wipe down . Less is better as the oil gums up the tool.
