As a Polynesian/Samoan, our Parents and family is always our main priority no matter how old we get. I’ve lost both my parents and til this day it still hits hard.. This performance was very special.. I loved your reaction.. Very genuine ❤

Iam. I have not cried so much as I have after listening to your videos since I lost my husband in July. Your singing is just so mello and so touching. You have an absolutely wonderful voice. You have touched everyone from coast to coast with your pain from loosing your Father and the love that you shared. You have more than made him proud I am sure with your singing and you will continue to do do. You are so blessed to have your Mother there with you to stand by your side and to encourage you. God bless you and may you continue to use your skill to reach out and bless others and to make your Father more proud. Whether you win American Idol or not, you have already made a name for yourself and you are already a winner in your Fathers eyes and your Mothers eyes. Be safe, be strong and certainly good luck.
I saw the young man too, I cried like a Castle dog. My father died of bladder cancer. He only lived to be 64, got bladder cancer at the age of 44, but his will to live was there. He fought for 20 years and still lost, hu hu hu, sorry, I cry. His father can be proud of him because my father was too.
Sorry for your loss friend. 💚💜 I, Mike to still find myself lost without my father. I worked hard to find the positive in it all. Perspective is very important with things like loss. If you look at it from the wrong perspective it can ruin you. Through the right perspective it can empower you like nothing else. Sort of like Iam being able to hear his father harmonizing with him. I do hope as the years pass we all learn to deal with it better and better. All the best to you friend

This audition was in October 2022 and his father actually passed away in December 2021, but he said "couple of months ago" meaning recently, and it still felt fresh to him. His father always wanted him to go on AI, but after he passed, Iam didnʻt want to sing anymore. It was his mother who convinced him to continue singing to express his feelings and retain that connection to his Dad, so she got him to try out for Amerian Idol. As youʻll learn, his father got him into music and they used to sing together and posted the videos on sm. When he sings now, he really does feel his father beside him and hears him harmonizing with him. If you watch the other performances on his American Idol journey, you will learn more of his story and fall in love with Iam as much of the world has. There are 6 more performances after this one and the Top 12 will perform this Sunday, April 30.

For the first time I started subscribing to people because of Iam and people genuinely reacting to him. He’s putting the Polynesian people on the map as far as music and it’s not so much her reaction because females feel a lot but his reaction because he’s lost someone and knows the feeling but I felt like his reaction was really genuine and sincere and men don’t regularly show that. What makes this performance amazing is that this is an anthem and tribute for men and their fathers. Not that many songs honor that relationship in such an emotional and vulnerable way. Love it.
I first saw this kid about a month after my dad passed, it was a few weeks within this coming out.
Every time I hear it, it brings me back the room, just me and my father on his deathbed.

I will give you an update on this amazing young man, he won the entire competition last year. Every single song he touched, he made special with his soothing angelic voice. I just recently found your channel. I love you Both. You are very authentic, vulnerable and real. I don’t know if you realize the magnitude of what you’re giving to us. You can never see something for the first time ever again. I believe somebody mentioned something like that in one of your videos. What we get, is to watch you, watch it for the first time and experience the emotions and feelings that we felt. We may be thousands of miles apart, decades different in age, a different race, a different color and completely different cultures. Yet we have this shared emotional moment, that bring us all together. Where else can you do that over and over and over again anytime you want. You should take time to watch another reaction channel react to something that moved you. Then you’ll know how we feel. The blessing is that in our crazy world today, where everything is out of control and there’s just no common sense anymore. Our governments want us to think we don’t like each other and that’s just not true. Our governments may not get along but we actually don’t have a problem with each other. At least I don’t. I believe God is using you reactors to expose all of us to the truth. Thank 4:21 4:21 you for what you go through to do that.

I lost my grandmother 12 yrs ago and her husband my grandfather died 4 yrs ago. And it still hurts that they are not here with us. I used to talk to them everyday and visit them and talk about everything and no type of judgment just love. I started following you guys for your BTS reactions and this one popped up. I had to watch it. One of my brothers posted this performance on FB and i couldn't hold back the tears. I lose my dad 8 yrs ago and still think of him everyday. He was such an amazing dad and this song really touched my heart.
