- 🛳️⚓Join us today in our first ever time in Norway as we explore the port town of Stavanger. We arrive into Stavanger at around 7 in the morning. We don’t have an excursion today, we will just enjoy a wander. We are in port until 5pm this afternoon.
🛳️⚓Stavanger is the first port of call on our Norwegian Cruise on the Anthem of the Seas cruise ship.
😔Sadly I did mispronounce Gamle during this video, it should be pronounced GAM - LE, so I apologise for that!

Love the music and views at the start,always wanted to do this,love norway,thoo alot swedish friends think there big headed as have so much oil lol. Love the tiny roads,and agree would not like a cruise ship there all time.love the pony statue,and the fact it looks so laid back,and not packed with people.This is something i have been thinking about doing,really enjoyed this debs xx 💎

Nice to have a comfortable wonder especially when it’s your first time! Great research on this area! Jill says it looks like the Roald Dahl Witches film set! Haha I'll have to rewatch Witches now to see what Jill saw. Yes when I was there I didn't really think of the impact that size of ship must have on the locals, but I certainly did when I started editing. But equally without the ships, what sort of hit would the economy have? Hope you both have a love weekend x

The shot of the ship down the road of the houses made it look gigantic by comparison. 😂. What a lovely Norwegian community. No, I don’t think I would. The lake and walking path/park was so pretty and green. Love a nice open air market. What a great video of your day off ship.

The old town of Stavanger looks amazing. Just the sort of place I enjoy exploring. Seeing the the cruise ship docked and towering above the town looked incredible. I just wish Norway was a bit more affordable. Nice day in port.
Luckily with being on a cruise ship we barely spent anything in Norway and we are not interested in buying souvenirs, I've got videos for my memories. Hope you get there someday as it's beautiful.

You had a great day in Stavanger and heading into the old part of the town first was an good idea.
I would imagine as a port they’re used to having ships in and during the off season there’s only the occasional cruise ship that visits.
Yes I bet Stavanger is really quite now for a good few months, the cruise ships must be a massive boost to their economy.

Stavanger looks a lovely place to visit. Seeing the cruise ship in front of those houses and buildings really emphasised how huge and imposing it is. It definitely looks incongruous in front of that picturesque old town. Though like you say, the town is probably highly reliant on the cruise ships, both for the tourists, but also for people working in local industries that support the cruise industry. It's interesting to see that side of it, as well as the pretty town itself.
Yes I bet Stavanger townsfolk are split between the benefits to the economy and the negatives of being invaded with thousands of cruise guests.
Wow such a beautiful city-all the little pedestrian streets, and the canals that wind through the city. Excellent video Nettie. I agree with you, the city should find a moorage spot a bit further away from the historical areas, much like they finally did in Venice. Have a wonderful weekend. ✌️
