7 years gone from my first comment, I was at this show. Blues Traveler opened. My favorite version of this song - Garcia had the most exquisite taste in covers.
No matter what problems you had or drama going on in your life, when you went to the shows everything was put on hold you didn’t think anything negative and the band did their thing. JGB in 1990-93 was on fire. NYC show in 91 was epic.
Right on jerry garcea band shows defenetly made the world a better place you dident think about the every day bs good music good people good times that’s the world needs now
i was at this show! blues traveler opened up , it was a feild trip for the band i used to play in, we were trippin our faces off! our new drummer was never the same
I saw 2 shows on this tour (Worcester and Providence), true highlights in my musical life. Profound appreciation for the musicians in this band. A special shout out to Jackie and Gloria, they added so much to this band.
dancing around the den!!! Thank you Jerry so much for the good times, the stories, and for the music that shot right into my heart and soul, making me the man I am today! Forever Grateful... "Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right!" .
Norton Buffalo was a friend of mine. No one, and I mean no one, could play the chromatic harp like he could. And he was the nicest kindest man you ever could meet.
Saw this show and the next 2 nights@Albany&Hartford. BluesTraveler opened@MSG. Good Stuff! After Albany we rode to NYC in the back of a pickup truck. COLD! Met Doug Irwin, Jerry's guitar guy@ a rest stop cafeteria. We had a cool convo! Hartford is/was a blur. Bread Box @ all 3 shows! LOVE ALL DEADICATED PEOPLE!
He looks happy, but what bummed me out was seeing "Bill Graham Presents....." on the tickets. Uncle Bobo died only a couple of weeks before this show. I can't imagine Jerry was feeling too great. That said, this is the best version of this song I've heard the JGB band play.
I feel you on that, i like the groovy version. Sorry forgot the date. This one feels too rushed. I know exactly where you're coming from brother. Well said.
I love Jerry and I miss him so much.... what a talent.King of the triads with Bobby. praise Bobby the beautiful bearded minstrel is still inspiring love and happiness thru his amazing talent.
I bet it would be VERY hard for Garcia to walk away from this really spot on incredible tour. In my humble opinion, Papa in his element doing what he loved to do. Crazy tight!
I was there. It was sad to see "Bill Graham Presents...." on the tickets so soon after he was killed. Blues Traveler opened. And I think this is the definitive version of "Breadbox." At least that I've ever heard them play.
That was fucking hot, I never missed a JGB show here on the east coast and after a while and some bad scenes I said the hell with the dead and just saw Jerry. I was amazed at his broad style and he could always bring a tear to my old eyes.
Didn’t have to look at his strings. The man was a legend. If you never saw this man perform, you are missing a lot. He was absolutely the most amazing performer I have ever seen. I miss him so much.
Stood doing balloons in 95 degree heat in the lot watching guys at Citifield make full on pizzas in a giant oven in between two massive black speakers on mounts playing this. Pizzas flying, people passing, smiles, Jerry noodling, ice cold ballons.....thanks Jerry! (and the pizza guys for the memory!)
The Dead should’ve taken a break after 1989. Man, if Jerry would’ve stayed around the Bay Area after Brent’s death in 1990, just gigged local with JGB and JGAB, the events that transpired from 93-95 would happen a little differently. Would love to have Jer still with us. But like Harrison said “All Things Must Pass…. Away”
Yes, I have one. I remember feeling somber because my ticket read "Bill Graham Presents...." and Graham had been killed only a few weeks before this show. Also I was a little somber because it was the first time I had seen Blues Traveler since I used to see them at my neighborhood bar (Nightingale on Second Ave and 13th Street) where I grew up in Manhattan only a couple years earlier. So it was definitely a wistful feeling of change and moving on. But the music was incredible.

My third comment on this video. This is far and away the best version of this song by this band I've ever heard. The official JGB release of the Hampton show with Hornsby is a crime - they should have released this show.
i was @ this show, i was 14 and had seen the GD twice in 91, but this, my First JGB show, is when i signed up for life. Thanks a million for posting these clips of the show. Any chance you have the "what a Wonderful world" encore video? that was the highlight of the show for me and i've yet to see it on Video. Thanks a million Brother.

I’m totally jealous

We're u there at the cape cod coliseum?
@@foresttemple1380 Hi, I didn't get on the bus until 1988. However, I must say, I'm not a Touchead. I got in the band via Europe 72.
Jerry. Saving my life from beyond the grave.
Gotta love him.

dancing around the den!!! Thank you Jerry so much for the good times, the stories, and for the music that shot right into my heart and soul, making me the man I am today! Forever Grateful...

It was always fun watching Jerry and Melvin comp together Jer was so happy in JGB
You don't know what you've got 'till it's gone.
Saw Jerry In Rochester NY around this time. Sure miss him.
Norton Buffalo was a friend of mine. No one, and I mean no one, could play the chromatic harp like he could. And he was the nicest kindest man you ever could meet.
Never Was a Bad JGB show!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss Jerry so much. Been inside of 217 show, on at least that many parks. I feel lost without the real Dead. RIP! JERRY!!!!

What a treat! THANKS!
He looks so damn happy.... love me some Jerry
@slipnutt ...I do... i snuck in the garden for this show...it was off the hook !!! thank you Jerry !!!
The Only Show I Ever Saw At The Garden. great time!
"open up your eyes little Darlin'!!!" Thanks Jerry!
Love Jerry Band!! Sometimes even more than the Dead. I think he enjoyed it more also, he could play what he wanted.
For sure - over the last four or five years of the GD the Garcia Band was light years better than the Grateful Dead.
I think Jerry knew he was the jgb and had to perform. With the dead he didn’t try as hard. Sad but glad to have these videos
I think it was reversed with jgb he could have fun, he didn't have to be this christ-like figure responsible for thousands of his kids
I only got to see him in the later years, but to me, this tour was the best he sounded the whole time I was following him (1987-1995)
I wonder if I know you bro 87-93 I live in Eugene now prob saw you on Shakedown brother
U saw when he was probably the most sober
'91 was one helluva grateful year!
This show was smoking hot from the first note to the last! Boy do I miss this.......
Hot in that breadbox. The violet flame burns in the space of perfect potential emptiness clarity conjoined compassion. That’s what I learned from this
I bet it would be VERY hard for Garcia to walk away from this really spot on incredible tour. In my humble opinion, Papa in his element doing what he loved to do. Crazy tight!
Happy Birthday Jerry, 2019!
The audio works for me. And as JGB's modern band goes, late 1991 was just smoking tight.
I was there. It was sad to see "Bill Graham Presents...." on the tickets so soon after he was killed. Blues Traveler opened. And I think this is the definitive version of "Breadbox." At least that I've ever heard them play.
Goddam Helicopters :( Bill Graham and Steve Ray Vaughn RIP !
Hell yeah - rock and roll with the big fella.
I was at this show. Blues Traveler opened.

Jerry’s in the groove!

I’m totally loving watching him right now. Damn I miss him

There ain't no bread in the bread box
'Cause we ain't got no dough
And it's seems like we ain't got enough time
To go foolin' around no more
I've been working so hard for oh so long
What've you got to show?
Open up your eyes little darling
Let's pack up your things and go
Open up your eyes little darling
Don't want to live here no more
Open up your eyes little darling
Been here for far too long
Open up your eyes little darling
It's time to move along
It was late into December
On a cold winter day
I'd just finished bringing wood into the kitchen
When I heard my Amanda say
She said "Elijah, you better look around
Things ain't like they used to be
Times getting hard for you and me
Come on daddy, it's time to shake things down"
There ain't no bread in the bread box

Open up your eyes little darling
It's time to move along
Later head down in the middle of the city and I went up to her flat
Trying to make it through [life] with my child and my wife
And the world upon my back
I said sweet thing, you better hold me tight
Things ain't like they used to be
Times are hard for you and me
Come on baby, it's time to make things right
There ain't no bread in the bread box
'Cause we ain't got no dough
And it's seems like we ain't got enough time
To go foolin' around no more
I've been working so hard for oh so long
