Was able to meet Zona at the fishing expo in Madison. We got lucky and bumped into him away from the booth he was working. He was generous with his time and it felt like talking to an old friend. He’s the real deal!
You two always crack me up... My Dream would be to get a day in the boat fishin With Zona! The energy.. the sense of humor.. the Drive! I would Love to experience that one on one!

I have had the opportunity to meet both Dave Mercer and Mark Zona. These two guys are the real deal. Both guys are genuinely great guys and are great to talk to. What I wouldn't give to hang out on a boat with one or both of these guys!
You two are my cousin and I's favorite BASS guys out there. Love the show you guys did together a while back. I would love to see you guys back in a boat together again singing some Iron Maiden songs while smacking around some Bass. LOL...

He took the time with me to talk about fishing St Clair. But….I don’t like this talk of being in the final innings of your careers 😎
Great show Dave really enjoyed it. Get tired of watching the channels talking about which 5 baits to use each month. What Z said about FF sonar was good stuff would like to hear more.👍

Is there a body of water out there that when you see it on the schedule you go, man this is gonna be a grinder, where the bite isn't there or the fish are finicky that day?
I could listen to Mark Zona talk for hours honestly. I will say im not an anti-livescoper but I do think there needs to be some rules eventually or were going to ruin all entertainment of our sport. Mirror the PGA or something im not really sure but were close to losing interest of even die-hards like myself
I agree with Zona's thoughts on FFS, for me it's like dirt track racing, It would be so much fun to be behind the wheel, but as a spectator it's not something I care to watch. I've made this comment before on other podcasts, but the only way to limit it is scheduling. Scheduling would put a big damper on it, not saying I'm anti technology because I'm not. In fact, one day when I can justify spending the money I will have it on my boat. But from a fan perspective and viewer perspective I'm just not gonna sit and watch a tournament on LIVE like the one on Oahe.
Things do get better. However, I am not a purist so all of you meat eaters get a forward facing sonar and fill your freezer. When people see the weights go down to win a tournament they will finally realize what they have done!!!!!

He was a fisheries biologist and lifetime fishing guide for bass, salmon trout and steelhead. He told me the Alabama rig in meat hunters hands would decimate a lake. The same is going to happen with forward facing sonar
