    Shouldn't we hold ourselves to a higher standard than "other countries that make dirty coal"?

  • @ursusmega2803
    @ursusmega2803 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    We have to build our renewable infrastructure BEFORE we wean the country off coal & gas. Labor won't get in next election to continue the work if the coal & gas industry collapses with nothing to replace it.

    Small modular nuclear power is more reliable than wind and solar. Less waste and still cleaner in the long run. Solar panels don't last forever and Australia doesn't even recycle old panels. Only Europe does this.

    It's good to see Labor allowing the Greens and teals to make certain tweaks. Nice to see a bit more cross party cooperation

      Right now the Greens and the teals need to forget about fixing the climate and turn their attention to fixing the earthquakes.

    Has any scientific work been done to figure out whether the sea levels are rising, or if the Pacific Island's foundations are sinking, such as in Jakarta, and the Netherlands? It sounds more like to me, the politics are jumping to conclusions.🥵

    “ instead of selling them our coal, let’s sell them our sunshine, let’s sell them green power in the form of green metals and green minerals”
    Let’s sell them our Greens party leader.
    Let’s consider Germany’s predicament of investing massively in Green Energy and facing a genuine crisis of Energy supply for homes and industry without Russian gas.
    Most Australians are on board with doing the right thing regarding carbon emissions, but people like this guy are downright dangerously misleading us about the realities of energy consumption, production, and costs.

      That may be correct, however Germany's issue was that they invested far too heavily on Russian gas (Nordstream 1 & 2) without effective planning that gave them a secondary energy option in case of events unfolding now. The current crisis they are facing is purely of their own creation. I do agree that there needs to be further discussion about the costs of transitioning, though renewables have never been cheaper and I think its time Australia capitalises on that.

    Australia has negligible emissions. So our solution should be negligible. Plant a few trees. Move on. We can't change the climate.

    Bandt says "the governments position at the moment is ......." but Australia's emisions are almost irrelevant compared to the Government of China and India and if Australia adopted net zero to morrow it would make NO DIFFERENCE at all .
