A triangle is a polygon with three sides and three angles, and the midpoint theorem states that the line segment connecting the midpoints of any two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half its length:

Statement
The line segment connecting the midpoints of any two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half its length
Converse
If a line is drawn through the midpoint of a triangle side parallel to another triangle side, it will bisect the third side of the triangle
The midpoint theorem is also known as the midsegment theorem or midline theorem.
